ND will spend money but will never let a kid in that it doesn't think will survive academically. It tried that during Holtz era and found out it was just a waste of time and scholarship because the player will just flunk out within a year.

ND playing arguably their toughest game week one and Deuce is going to watch Auburn vs Alabama A&M. Pretty definitive action there. Hopefully not many recruits committed because of his personal "recruiting."

​@@Ndfourlifeit's not becoming a common trend, This has been a thing when ND goes after these type of kids. I remember Aaron Lynch. ND hasn't won in these kids lifetimes. ND hasn't had a good NFL QB since Joe Montana. Notre Dame just doesn't offer as much from a football standpoint as Auburn who has won in the last 40 years, had a Heisman QB and a successful NFL QB. If Notre Dame wins they will land more of these kids but losing Keon to Bama... its Bama. Losing Peyton to OU when OU was his favorite team growing up. Losing Dante to UCLA when sources made it clear he didn't want to go where CJ Carr did.

Deuce is a good recruit for sure. In my opinion I have heard everything about this young man’s measurable. He is fast he can jump, but when it comes to his actual Qb skills everyone says he is a work in progress. The problem is if he ends up here at ND I think he wrecks this QB room because he expects to be a starter very soon in or he will leave anyway. Get a QB who knows how to be a Qb not a high jumper.

WHO CARES? I like Duece Knight, but this is precisely the reason you stack elite QBs ... so when one leaves, or is a bust, or gets injured, your team is not set back. We have Carr in 2024 and Grubbs in 26. That's not to mention Angeli and Minchey. We're loaded.

I genuinely wish fans would realise we are following what "sources" say a childs current thought process is. Lets not be rude to Deuce ESPECIALLY before the actual flip happens because there isnt a 0% chance he stays. He was more of a luxury than a need. Just rip the bandaid off though. Recruiting sucks as a fan now. Too much money. Not enough maturity.

Recruiting is less fun to follow these days. commitments don't matter, and if they come they can leave anytime. college football is fun, but everything around is getting worse.

Seems like Irish fans just lived through this.... oh wait. We did. Hello, Dante Moore. The problem is not the reporters who a couple years back certainly earned many clicks with stories about five-star qb Dante Moore loving the Irish and making ND the fave to get him to sign. Obviously, it didn't happen. And now, we are apparently about to lose five-star QB Deuce Knight who actually went Dante Moore one forward pass better by verbally committing to ND and now apparently bailing on the Irish. Just guessing, but I would say the number of internet stories heralding Notre Dame landing Knight number somewhere in the many, many dozens. Make that many, many, many dozens. The internet reporters are kind of forced into this. If five reporters produce click-bait stories on the Irish and a five-star qb prospect, and a sixth reporter does not, that sixth guy is going to get busted by his boss wanting to know where the QB story is. These days, away from ND, Chicago Bears reporters are in a similar spot with Caleb Williams, and women's pro sports reporters are in a similar spot with Caitlin Clark. In these cases, no news is bad news for the reporter. The difference, of course, between Knight, Williams and Clark, is the the latter two have signed pro contracts, and Knight will sign his pro contract, apparently with Auburn in the near future as a likely huge NIL payday awaits him. Obviously, a big NIL payday would await him at Notre Dame or Mississippi or Auburn as well. The problem is this: Reporters have zero clue how NIL money is being offered by each school to Moore to sign a pro contract with their school. And because the NIL cash number is unknown, the reporters are all still covering high school recruits as they did in the pre-NIL days. And that leads to this ... readers wasting time reading glowing reports about the Irish QB recruit and reporters looking out of touch with reality because college football recruiting COVERAGE hasn't evolved in recent years even though the recruiting itself is totally different. Thanks to the portal, the two key factors for many players now is 1) NIL cash; 2) immediate playing time. Notre Dame reporters love to fall back on how an ND education can better set the athlete up for the rest of his working life better than a similar education at most other schools. Likely true. But for talented high school senior players with the NFL on their minds, it's about NIL cash now and immediately playing time. Basically, writing so much about any team-changing talented prep football player without knowing how much he will be paid to play at various schools and how much playing time he's likely to get, is weak. And it's going to get worse starting in the fall of 2025 when the players will get NIL money and cash from the school to play. Money and playing time talk in 2024. Since the reporter can't know the answers to either NIL cash or playing time, the stories can turn out 100 percent wrong. How many internet stories were there about Knight recruing other players to attend Notre Dame? Those stories seem just plain stupid now. Trying to cover recruiting in 2024 is like a reporter trying to cover the NBA "G" League as if the results of the game matter. The "G" League is there only to develop future NBA players. The game results are irrelevant. Yet, reporters still cover that league as though the "four-game winning streak" matters. Please media. Adjust and do better.
