I keep telling myself Denbrock is saving carries of Love and Price for a potential playoff run as this can be a 15-16 game season which is more than these college kids have played at this level. I know the receivers have not been a huge factor this year but Jayden Harrison has now put two games back to back where he looked very good. Also, Mitchell Evans seems to be getting more involved in the game plan. ND's defensive backs have SO much ball skills that they sometimes look like the QB's target. I agree that play calling may be different as they approach field goal distance as there just isn't must trust there to get 3 points.

Notre Dame needs to threaten to leave their agreement with the ACC if they don’t fix their reffing. Yesterday was atrocious, and that wasn’t even the worst we’ve seen from Acc refs this season… the Miami-Cal game was inexcusable. Heck, if you’re worried about what conference would give ND the same deal as the Acc of everything and half of football, literally the sec and Big12 would agree in a heartbeat, just to keep ND out of the big10

One big difference John points out is the fact that this team is blowing the opponents out. In most of the 10 win seasons in recent years we've barely gotten past teams in close games. Assuming the two lines stay relatively healthy and barring any other significant injuries, the passing game and the kicking game are the top two concerns. Leonard has his limitations passing, but he could be good enough if he had better than just average receivers; and ND's receivers aren't going to get better this season. Given where the Irish were after NIU, I am thankful that they have bounced back so well and made watching them so enjoyable. Hopefully ND can win out and win at least one game in the playoffs. I'd consider that a very successful season. Going forward, ND needs to get in some wide receivers that are both speedy and have breakaway running ability after the catch. Last year ND's final ranking in the AP and Coaches' Poll was 14th. I think it's realistic to hope for a 9th or better final ranking this year, which would represent nice improvement year to year, especially given all the players they lost to injury.
