I started on a 04 zx6r. just takes time, respect the power. Im still no where near this guys ability to wheelie. But Ive gotten better at my parking lot wheelies. Ive been riding for about 3 years now, to give you a frame of reference. I've also put more miles on my bike than the average person would. About 26k miles since I bought it.

started on a 1993 yamaha xj600.. its a pretty forgiving bike cause its only like 60hp.. just take it easy till u feel the bike like its part of u...easy on the acceleration.. do not floor it especially in turns.. ride on twisty roads whenever u can..

Flashing RPM is the shift indicator. You can set any rpm or turn it off.

It's also a "breaking in period warning" indicator, hence the blinking in 6th gear too. IIRC in default settings, it will steadily increase the set RPMs when the blinking starts, when the breaking period is weaning off.

I love my 650, took it on the G2 track was a blast. my 1000rr I left on the trailer all weekend. It's budget bike so does needs mods, but every bike does these days. Ecu flash, swap out the rubber velocity stacks, suspension for a start.

It's the scavanging you want, not the pressure. A well designed pipe will actually create a vacuum at just the right time and empty that cylinder proper-wise

My 17 y/o buddy has a 2022 z650 perfect for around town. Comes up 1-3. Feels super planted while doing sit downs because that seat. Only thing I don’t like is how soft the front suspension is. It gets bouncy in the corners but over time I’ve figured out to keep it from getting bouncy. super fun bike tho

@@lakebruhh only way is a staggered wheelie. Stick to 2nd gear that’s where all the fun is at anyway. I go like 20-25 clutch up and it usually goes straight to balance point or right below it so you just hit the gas a little more and bring it up to balance point. I have go pro footage of it if you’d like to see.

I have one of these.. it was my first bike. I love it. Plenty of power for going around town fast and looks really sharp. Good gas mileage, like 55-60mpg. I have about 10k miles on it right now. Highly recommended.

@@MagicCarpetRide8669 Sure, my bike is a parallel twin (BMW f800r), BMW is very good at making an engine with a smooth power delivery and a lot of torque even if it's not a boxer, so I really like this bike, but the sound is so whack.. I much prefer a V-twin like a Suzuki SV650 (Cagiva raptor) or a Ducati Monster.. My brother used to have the Honda Cbr650F, that bike was totally awesome and a heavenly flat 4 sound. My next bike will be an in-line 4, there's just no comparison

my first bike was the 08 model ER6N, got a tad bit more torque and bhp than the ninja 650 but both parallel twins. 5 years on, still got my ER6N, really don't want to get rid of it and I still ride it sometimes, but I have gone a bought myself a MT-09. In all fairness, the MT made me like the ER even more which is surprising. The only thing that I like and also don't like is that now the ER feels like I'm riding a 125 compared to the MT. The ER is smaller, lighter and a pinned throttle is just so much easier to handle. Used to be afraid of the power when I first got it, and now it's like a 125. But wise words said, better to ride a slow bike fast, than a fast bike slow. But now I kind of wish I never got the MT and just got myself a new 650 because now the 650s feel slow it has taken a slight bit of enjoyment out of it. Which now makes me think that I should never get a bike faster than the MT lol my worst fear now is that I get on a fast bike and in the end it feels slow and I end up laying on the side of the road. So many people told me growing up, you don't need bigger than a 600/650 and it is 100% true, you really don't, but as always the curiosity always gets people and they want to ride the bigger, better, faster bikes. I'd hate to be in the shoes of the guy that went from fresh licence to turbo hayabusa first bike, pretty sure that would a riding lifestyle killer!

I went from a Harley 1200 sportster (sold) to the mt09. I got rid of the Yamaha fz09. Now I might be buying the ninja 650 . Sometimes faster isn't always better or more enjoyable. The Yamaha just begs to be driven fast or it feels boring IMO.

@@95turboteggy65 totally agree with you. but my reasons for buying the mt09 was purely because its labelled wheelie machine. i dont enjoy going fast, i enjoy the roads and wheelies and thats enough for me. its just the fact that because the mt has a lot of torque and revs up fast is what made me feel the difference that the 650s are a lot slower. that said, i do regret getting the 09 over the 07. still yet to find the perfect bike for me, something thats small, has a lot of torque, pops up easily and sticks very well on corners. although arguments can be made any bike can pop up i enjoy the bike doing it rather than me having to bounce them up etc. but im with you the ninja 650 is a class bike, its practically the same bike as the ER6N just way nicer looking

I currently have a 2005 Ninja 250. I love it and have been riding for a year. I want to upgrade but keep the 250. Comfort is a big thing for me, and when I sat on the ZX-6R I didn't find it comfortable. I loved sitting on the Ninja 650 though. What would y'all think of me getting a 650 for my 2nd bike? still plan to keep the 250, I just want something faster, and still comfortable. I thought I wanted an MT-07 but just didn't find it comfortable.

Two different types of bikes imo. You can get a windscreen for the MT too. But the 650 is more for the sporty commuter vs the MT, which to me feels more like a larger dual sport. The Yamaha for sure feels more refined in the quality of the parts, fitment, etc. But the z650 looks great, though compared to Honda's Cbr650r (a better comparison for the style), I'd say the Honda is a lot nicer. Regardless, solid video as usual.

the flashing light on the speedo is actually the gear shift light, it's been set really low on the one you're riding. I set mine to 8krpm :)

Stock performance wise an mt07 is better. Theyre just about as freeway friendly depending on wether you want wind protection or upright comfortability. Ninja 650 would be an easier stunt/squidbike.the mt07 can still power wheelie in 3rd just not as agile

On the freeway the Ninja 650 will pull away from an MT07, fairings make a massive difference on these bikes. The R7 will pull away from the Ninja 650 though. Goes to show how much aerodynamics matter. Also a Ninja 400 will reel a MT07 top end, there’s videos on here to prove it to… naked bikes struggle more past 100 mph generally. The MT09 and Z900 prove that to, similar/slightly more power to a 600 but can’t outrun a 600 top end due to aerodynamics, we act as big wind sails on naked bikes… I personally prefer faired bikes

The 400 can do highway speeds but your going to be pegged out and not have a lot of top end passing power. Definitely go with the 650 if you can

I installed after market rear shock in my 08 650 from yss I think. Decent shock but less money than olins. It's winter here so I haven't had a chance to ride it but I'm wondering if having improved, somewhat sturdier rear suspension will react negativly with the sponginess of the front shocks. I have a 2024 ninja 650. Idk what is going on, but it has nowhere near as much torque. I have traction control off and still cant even get the wheel off the ground from throttle alone. Can clutch up, but needs to be going less than 15 mph w 8000rpm. What am I missing???
