the fact that this was easily 100% preventable is so infuriating to me. those passengers would still be alive today if it weren't for the capitalist greed, egos, and incompetence of the people in power. it really just gets worse and worse the more you learn about it. i hope the survivors and the victims' loved ones are healing as much as they can

Agreed. The fact that EVERY SINGLE person on that ship could have been saved MULTIPLE TIMES and each time, it was pride, greed, selfishness and lack of human empathy that killed hundreds of innocent people and that this whole tragedy was 100% preventable. The worst part is that the victims KNEW that they aren't going to be saved and that they were abandoned and left to die slow, agonising and terrifying deaths as the ship sinks deeper and deeper into the ocean and that makes me so sick and heartbroken every time I think of the incident and how much the loved ones of those that died are still suffering to this day.
@sometingwong27335 ай бұрын
Compare this to the titanic making this even more crazy, all the engineers on titanic stayed so lights on ship can last as long as possible, the captain also went down with the ship and all crews member helped evacuate the passengers, the Carpathia ship traveled as fast as it could and avoid all iceberg on the way and saved 706 people which is all the people that survived the titanic sinking. Meanwhile 22 crews member out of 29 in the the Korea ferry fled along with the captain and let the children died, the coast guard also was negligence to the rescue. The band members on the Titanic was more brave than the Korean coast guard is ridiculous.

To give you some perspective, in a typical dive recovery it usually takes about 4 divers to retrieve ONE body. These volunteer divers are HEROS. Bodies will naturally float, it takes so much strength and power to pull a body out of a sunken ship while trying to keep it in tact. The KZbin channel DiveTalk has several videos reviewing dive recovery film. It is a highly physical and highly technical feat to recover loved ones

Thank you NSD for doing this. The thing that the surviving students want the most is that their friends and classmates " will NEVER be forgotten". In the MV in the laundry room scene on the dryers is a sign that says Never Forget. Notice how the dryer windows look like portholes on a ship and you can see Jin representing a student inside. Thank you for making us remember again.😢

Younjae from Got7 with a ribbon tattoo on his arm, cuz one of his teacher of his highschool died in that ferry too. Thank you for the video and very detail information about this terrible tragedy, what I watched this news on social media and news from Hong Kong, what I just know from it are small parts of it, like, wrong information for the "wrecking crew" , the captain and ferry crews run away from the ferry, 350 died, "wrecking crews" didn't work as they got no orders and 2 girls (students) bodies found in water of so far away from crime scene 2 years later, they were identified because we were wearing school uniforms.... I am Hongkongese, we had a very similar tragedy in my hometown few years ago, I feel so bad about this tragedy and so helpless for all this hell situation. We kept watching news and trying to see someone saved by crews, but we always have to adapt to the harsh reality. How ridiculous this is. What we could do is stay strong and pray for those victims, parents and those kids and people who are in heaven.

It's basically letting a shaman or confidant use her like a puppet. Now that's very a imprecise rendering of it for the case of Park Geun-Hye. Simply because of the normativity of a South Korean shaman and who exactly was pulling the strings whilst she was in power. And before that! So yeah thats why I highly recommend you watch the video that she made on her other channel.

The captain was originally given 36 years then the prosecutors appealed and he got life instead, and the 3rd mate was not paying any attention to what the helmsman was doing when he tried to fix the original list and she told him to turn in the opposite direction and he did and very sharply which caused the list( that was in official report

You still don't know everything... there are reports that in the ship, there were safety manholes separating the engineering room and lower decks. Regulation said they were all to be closed at all times fpr safety so water won't flood the ship in case of emergency. When the ferry was brought up, the found that most of the manholes were opened. And apparently (read from the internet somewhere) some of the people died from hypothermia - which means they waited for rescue for a long time, while no one above the sea level tried to help quickly. Except their devastated parents and others who were not allowed by South Korean authorities to help at all.

The U.S navy being ready to assist and being turned down is one of the worst parts as they had the equipment and experience that would have saved way more lives. The Japanese navy also offered help and were ready to send another helicopter that had the rescue equipment and experienced crew needed but were also refused. President Park being elected was always a strange one being the daughter of a previous dictator who caused a lot of problems. South Korea was only about 10 years into peaceful transfers of power though so I guess some of the corruption was sticking around. She was a lot like her dad, more concerned with herself and her own image and continued the connection to a weird shaman cult who's leader had been a bit of a Rasputin figure in her dad's cabinet, influencing decisions. She was friends with his daughter from a young age so she also had a shaman whispering in her ear in the form of the guy's daughter. She used her connections to President Park to get her daughter into an elite school without the proper grades and also on to an Olympic team that actually went to the Olympics. That's how messed up the government was at the time of this tragedy. When news of the accident came to the President, she was apparently still sleeping and told her staff to not bother her for a few more hours and then they wanted to set up a video feed which wasted even more time.
@アキコ20036 ай бұрын
Its incredibly frustrating to watch the clips of the parents in agony and being denied and lied to. It reminds me of the fact that the government as a collective can do whatever it wants and that they can literally deny your childs life in front of you and you wont be able to do anything. Besides just turning into a criminal and ending every single person who is denying you at the moment with some sort of weapon, and then getting arrested afterwards.

Honestly, with those incidents of mostly just young people dying because of government, like here or with Itaewon, it's no wonder Koreans don't want children. I wouldn't want either and have their lives be in the hands of government who clearly couldn't care less. I know it's probably just one of the reasons, but those incidents alone tell me to not have children.. at least not in Korea.

Even if the captain didn't want to say he was the captain, he could have at least said I heard the intercoms keep repeating to stay put and to not move like it was a glitch in the intercom system. Like anything would have been better then what he did. Also this happened to a ship called the costa concordia where the captain and some of the crew bailed telling the passengers to stay in the cabins, wasting valuable rescue time telling the government that everything was fine. But Italy and the government officials knew how to save the people, knew when people were lying to them. South Korea's government was so much worse that it astounds me that no one had a backbone or an ounce of leadership and command to just say "f*ck all of you I'm going to see if there are more people".
@TimberlakeTigerGirl6 ай бұрын
I remember hearing that one radio recording of an Italian Coast Guard Captain just chewing out the 'captain' for abandoning ship. He said "You may have saved your own a**, but I will absolutely nail you to the wall for this. You will not get away with what you did. I will make it my mission to make sure you go to prison'. It was glorious. If only the South Koreans had swallowed their pride and accepted help from the US and Japanese military vessels, those kids would still be alive today. Those military vessels should of said 'screw it' and forced their way in. Political fallout can happen later; those kids should of been their priority.

The reason for the turn: Third Officer Park (an educated and experienced Merchant Marine Officer- ask her professor) took multiple bearing on another vessel in the passage and determined that the two vessels were on a collision course and observed that the Sewol was the, “ privileged vessel “ to take early and substantial action to avoid the predicted collision. (I have to go to work now - 2024.04.24:1409 Mina Sharon’s Texas time, I will start over tomorrow) Again, If you want to know the root cause, start following the three Captains from 2014.03.01 hour by hour to 2014.01.20. bye

It's difficult to move bc of the tilting - which is techincally corroborated by the victim's videos) ; and then they were like "if they jump, will they be saved immediately? The water's really cold so they might" smth smth hypothermia. That's mentioned a bit at the end 2:08:03 Went looking for a quote I thought I read about Park watching and workers saying "we gotta pretend/try to look like we're doing something in front of her" - instead found that there was a section of MIA time where she was getting her hair done for 90 minutes before showing up in front of the camera oh here's a quote A mother of a victim who died in the ship, *Goh Young Hee*, could not hide her anger against the President during her interview with a *CBS* radio show on December 7. She said, "" "," the mother cried out. ...oh the "she intentionally got that hair done" part was because the stylist was "instructed to make it seem like the President showed up in a hurry, by making the up-do messier than usual. 2024.04.29 @SewolHoONCE back one more time regarding the, “3 Captains of the Sewol.” KZbin did not give us the required information, so we went back to Wikipedia. Captain Shin, who knew the condition of the ship, was fired before the 15-16 voyage started. Long-term replacement (not temporary substitute) Captain Lee was relieved of duty at 0916, about half an hour before he disembarked. He was legitimately out of the Captain’s uniform when he disembarked. Coast Guard Headquarters ordered the master of Patrol Ship 123 to take total command of the situation at 0916, but he did not know what to do. Park Han-kyul, Third Office, also lost her officer’s commission at 0916. Her alleged promotion-at-sea never happened; the master of 123 was already legally in command even though he had no idea what he was supposed to be doing! We, therefore, request a long report on Shin, Lee, Park, and nameless 123.

More people need to be aware of this incident and far too many people only know about the basics of this tragedy by watching short videos like the Spring Day explanation and that is a shame. This wasn't just a freak accident, it was an incredibly monstrous series of intentional events that had lead to the deaths of hundreds of innocent people that had lost their lives way too soon.

Even if it was some of the strongest windows in the world, you can't tell me they couldn't take some type of saw saw to it. Pressure is different than cutting. You get what I'm saying. Those windows like that are made for pressure, but you put a blade up to something with the jagged edges and start going at 1000 RP m's. It's gonna cut through it if I cut through sheet metal all day with saw saw blades you can't tell me they can't cut through thick a** fiberglass. Or at least try

Who had that shit?

@@MySerpentine who had a saw saw? I mean every block in America has someone with one and that's just a normal one, emergency services have way bigger and better cutting devices... plus even if didn't they could have gotten one in 30 mins..i mean i don't believe one second this "accident" was an accident. They could have gotten torches to cut in the beginning, hell... put inflatables under it... and imean so many inflatables that the people putting it under the boat would be in no type of danger plus sometimes you have to put yourself in danger to save people hell bring 10 helicopters 20 helicopters and hook them to it wherever can to at least slow down.. i don't know if that is rediculous suggestion because idon't know aeronautical engineering, but iwouldn't have cared.. if ihad money and power that boat would have not sunk with that many people on it.. don't care what people might criticize about later saying that was an crazy idea.... fuck em as long as kids were saved

@@DoNkEy_LoVE Seems more like a clusterfuck of buck-passing to me. No reason for the ship to have a saw like that, and if anyone else had one they were too busy with simultaneously doing nothing and being too proud to accept help. It was a case where literally everyone responsible was incompetent.

I'm discussed by north Korea this is why I'm scared to go to other countries and now I don't wanna go to north Korea anymore

You mean South Korea? Because as far as North Korea goes, they talk s*it all the time but they are at least upfront with their lies and deception. South Korea, on the other hand, tries to brush everything under the rug and pretend nothing happened.
