Nottingham Council House Chimes

I have finally got around to editing this one together! So here you are, the best sound in Nottingham (according to some, including me!): the Council House Chimes. Recorded at ten in the morning on a visit courtesy of NUSCR.
The great bell in the middle is called Little John and weighs ten and a half tons. It was once the deepest toned clock bell in the UK, until Great Paul was hooked up to York Minster's clock chimes.

I can hear him ringing from my little home out in the wilds of Holme Pierpont by the River Trent, the deep sounds boom across rhe water beautifilly and are a sonic timepiece. ⏰🕰️

Yes.I live in a village in Devon and they have stopped the chimes from our local church during the night.Very sad as I love the sound even in the dead of night.

I noticed that the heaiest Quarter jack has a muffled sound, unlike the 3 other quarter jacks, do you know why? It sounds as if the hammer has leather on the face of it rather like a muffle on a clapper. How good would Little John be if was swung like Great Peter

The hammer on the heaviest bell doesn't move as far back as the other hammers when they strike the bell, so I think that might have an effect too.

It’s actually Great Peter, not Great Paul. Great Paul is not ringing anymore due to the ringing mechanism being broken.
