It's amazing how none of this was relevant until it started to affect "normal people"... like that girl with the boyfriend. Minorities and gays didn't matter, though they're human too. I get their reasoning behind that --racism and fear of being outed--but that still doesn't make it right!😒

There was still very much a lot of Victorian, authoritarian social attitudes in the 1980s. Like the Victorians believed, there was still the idea of victims either being "deserving" of "undeserving". If you didn't conform, you were deemed to have earned every bit of pain and misfortune you got. A very brutal way of looking at the world. Contrary to what some people (who only remember the music) will tell you, the 1980s were a pretty horrible decade.

Interesting that at the time of this documentary they thought HIV and AIDS were separate viruses and they speculated that if someone has the HIV virus they might be resistant to the AIDS virus. 😅

What? HIV was found because they were looking for the virus that causes AIDS. It was a combination effort of US and French scientists. It did originally have a different name, HTLV III. But was renamed to HIV.

Exactly. 40 years later people would pay more attention to Kim Kardashian having another kid than they would if they announced an actual cure for HIV. Name one scientist worth a billion dollars.

HIV was created by your government to eradicate certain undesirables... would you believe they used the poopy diaper of a 4 year to formulate the virus, and they purposely released it in African countries first, knowing full well it would spread... HIV is very similar to the coronavirus ... do the research and look at the facts and data 🤷‍♀️
