Hi, thank you for this video, some really useful hints and tips and a lovely finished coat 😊 I’m based in the UK, and going to start on a Nova coat very soon using a boiled wool. I was wondering what interfacing you used? It looks like quite a heavy weight one. Thanks, Pippa

Hi Pippa, Thank you for your kind comments about the video and my coat. I used a woven fusible weft interfacing that I purchased from Mood Fabrics. Unfortunately, Mood doesn't provide the brand name. You can find it here: www.moodfabrics.com/catalogsearch/result/?q=weft%20fusible%20interfacing%20single-sided. You are correct - it is substantial. This interfacing was what was called for by the Clare Coat pattern that I made a year or two before and so I used what I had left over from that. I hope you enjoy making the Nova coat and that it turns out beautifully!

Hi, thank you for such a great tutorial. I will be making the Nova coat soon, and I will follow your instructions. Did you clip the curves on the seams where the back section is attached to the side back, and also the neck curve edges? When you attach bias binding, I would assume that you wouldn't want to clip through that layer.

Hi Carolyn, thanks for your kind words. You are correct that you don’t want to clip through the twill tape. I really didn’t have to clip anywhere. Since the collar stands up, there isn’t as much of a curve that would need to be clipped. I also found that the wool has some give to it, so I didn’t need to clip the back seams either. That might not be the case if using a less flexible fabric. I hope that helps.

The name change was because people were offended this non-japanese company would use a japanese name for the coat. This was probably right after George Floyd/BLM movement.
