He's pushed it too far to back pedal now, and if he doesn't pretend that this is to save the hostages (most of which have probably been bombed to death by the IDF), his actions in Gaza lose the anemic justification they have. Any acknowledgement of misconduct, or that these are false pretenses invites political disaster internally and potentially some more substantive back-lash from the international community (though not enough to force-stop the Genocide he's perpetuating lmao) may come down. It's like the Bush administration with the Iraq war; we all *know* it was declared under blatantly false pretenses and was about plundering oil reserves, but no-one involved is crazy enough to actually *admit it* cause that'd confirm it. Instead, let it fester without consequence long enough that people lose interest, and it gets swept under the rug as new scandals pop up, and hope folks don't have the energy to keep pursuing it.

Lmao, when I use to want to be a journalist, I would see small news outlets asking for massive portfolios detailing work across years worth of journalism. Apparently, the JC doesn’t need evidence of work, maybe I should have applied there! 🤮
