First time someone's had a good look at the drum pads. Great review.

Another feature of this controller that I really like is that it has CV output so you can do CV sequencing as well for any of your hardware with CV input.
@TheAudioDabbler4 жыл бұрын
that is a cool feature except I don't own any hardware yet to utilize the CV. Maybe one day.

Good demo Mitch.. BUT.. because of that sneaky little link, now I’m seriously jonesing for the KeyStep Pro.. 🙃 Thanks for this.. and that..😁

Nice demo Mitch. I just got a korg triton taktile 49 and I’m loving it. It doesn’t have a sequencer onboard but the arpedgiator is the best I have ever come across in all my years as a musician. And it also has a built in kaos pad. Try myvolts they make a cable called rip chord for powering different music gear from a usb powerbank they may just make one to provide right voltage and polarity for the novation.

Thanks. I actually have a Triton Taktile 25. It is pretty fun and that ARP is great. I will check out the myvolts cables to see if they have what I am looking for. Thanks for the tip.

What about using full software instruments in the sequencer?

Finally someone who isn't paid by Novation or given a unit to talk good about their product just to sell it.

Can i Play Softsynths from IPad Pro with my sl 61 mk3? I have Mandy from Korg, Moog and other and will Play it with that Key. And how can i connekt the IPad to the sl mk3 ?
@jimihendrix43762 жыл бұрын
Use a Yamaha UD-BT01 (Amazon $60) and download a software called Midimittr found in the app store (free) then you can connect your iPad or any other controller via Bluetooth, I use this to connect my Novation SL MK3 keyboard and my wind controllers to my iPad Air, this video will give you the general idea which will work with a lot of things! kzbin.info/www/bejne/o56mZWSDmrOWY7M

Great !!! How many presets can we store ? With sequences, vst assignements on the 8 tracks ...etc ? Thanks.
@TheAudioDabbler11 ай бұрын
a lot of presets and sessions. Works like the novation circuit, so basically you have 8 circuit sequencers at a time. Its really great and lots of learning but can be really fun once you learn it.

Are you still using your novation SL 49 as a controller for iOS?

Hey! Nice review! I'm interested in buying this, but I'd like to know what all buttons/menus you have to use to change the midi output channel?

I'm looking for a great controller for ios. You have been at this for a few years now. Have you tried any new controllers or heard of any that interface better?

Great video. just wondering; are all the sounds coming from the ipad? what program are you using? how did you connect to the ipad? any chance of doing a video on your signal chain/set up? thanks

yes all the sounds are coming from my iPad. I have a setup video on my short list. hopefully I can have it out soon.

Hi, how do you connect this to the iPad? I have several synths (on iPad) that I want to use this with. I haven't bought it yet, but am about to. I also have Ableton and know that Live is the main strongpoint in design but didn't want to exclude the great software I have on my iPad Pro. Lastly, can I connect both at the same time and how would that be managed, i.e.; both PC and iPad. Are there multiple USB ports on back or would I need some sort of hub? To be clear I need to be able to quickly juggle between both for live performance. Thanks for any help here.

What kind of slide do you have your keyboard on? I’ve been trying to rig something up to be able to slide it back when not in use.

Thx for this vid! I can really use a realtime sequencer that also records automation for aum. Any thoughts?
@TheAudioDabbler4 жыл бұрын
This controller can record 8 lanes of automation per track. I haven't covered that yet.

Hi, a bit late to chime in but I stumbled upon your video when looking for a suitable MIDI controller to use with both Mac OS and iOS. In fact, I'm searching for a 49 or 61 key MIDI controller to use with either Ableton Live or Logic Pro X on Mac (not yet decided on which DAW to use) but I would also like to use it with iOS on my iPad, for Korg Gadget 2 and Cubasis 3. I've had my eye on this Novation SL MK3 for a while but since I'm a novice as far as MIDI music making is concerned, I thought that it might be a bit too much for me. Do you think this would suit me ?
@TheAudioDabbler3 жыл бұрын
The Novation SL MK3 is a great controller. I would say there is a small learning curve over a less advanced keyboard. However, this thing will grow as with you as you learn. Even if you didn't use the onboard sequencer, having the 8 tracks setup for different instruments is a really quick workflow. If it's in your budget, I would say get it and let it grow as you grow.

Nice controller Mitch good to see someone using it with a iPad. Lots of plus points there integrates well by the looks of it be interesting to see where you take this. I see people using a cheap android table or even their android phone to use with Components to keep portable.
@TheAudioDabbler4 жыл бұрын
I hadn't really thought about using a cheap android table with components. I will keep that in mind if I am ever in need without my computer.

Yes, Apple’s lack of support for Web MIDI on their mobile devices means configuration software like this won’t run on iOS or iPadOS.

The right USB barrel jack adapter running into a decent battery will probably power it.
@TheAudioDabbler4 жыл бұрын
I have a barrel connector but it didn't work. It needs the voltage stepped up from 5v to 12v. I know there are some out there but just need to do more research.

Push??
@TheAudioDabbler4 жыл бұрын
yea, the Ableton Push 2.
@perrypelican94764 жыл бұрын
TheAudioDabbler yeah, sorry about the push confusion. I thought you were comparing only to other "novation" controllers. I thought maybe there was a novation push. About your disappointment about the novation not being bus powered; is your setup totally battery powered or is it about being able to use it absolutely anywhere? I must say that I like to have the choice. I always say that my favorite word is hybrid. The more flexibility the better. Another cool video from the king of audio dabbling. Thank you.
@TheAudioDabbler4 жыл бұрын
No my setup is not battery at all. It’s just sometimes I like to move around the house or outside for different creative spaces. it would be fun to move the novation around and if it was bus powered it would be a lot easier. I think I can get a cable to be able to power it from a battery.
