Novation will get my money when they implement multitrack recording over USB like Roland. No clue if this will ever happen but here's hoping...

Nice one Gabe. Not long got us a circuit. And a few other bits. Midlife crisis for me. 1st time touching synth's/Drum machines in 25 year's. Watching your stuff's, Loopop's and Bo's made me wanna get back into it. So got a load of stuff to see if I can get my 2 boy's into it. If they do then great. If they don't then I'm all set up ready to go. So buzzing that you're back on the circuit train 👊🙏💪🔥🔥🔥

Ouch. I thought scenes was a song mode. Thanks for clearing that up. It's crazy that such an expressive machine doesn't have an option to record/song mode/whatever a performance. Also, I seriously dig the song you made to demo the video.

Record all the midi to separate tracks over USB, sequence the Circuit with your DAW, record each instrument on separate tracks.
@ScottGlasgowMusic3 жыл бұрын
Cool video! My instinct is to switch to individual track per muted instrument but using 1 track to record all the audio, then cut/snap to downbeat on a new track is a great solution. Midi recording is great too and you could send the midi from the DAW back to your CT with midi in, then use the DAW as the tempo control to trigger internal synths on the CT as a synth module-- I wonder if midi tempo info is sent from DAW to CT so it changes too?

Thanks for the video Gabe! For the mono tracks, what I like to do is pan them hard left and hard right on the Circuit, so I can record 2 at the same time to my DAW (using mono tracks as well to record only one of the audio interface inputs).

Syncing external gear with midi form the Daw often has latency issues. Especially ik you want instruments in the Daw to be in sync with you hardware Something like an ERM multiclock works, but is expansive. Ricky Tinez has some good videos about this
@GabeMillerMusic3 жыл бұрын
Yeah, that's why I don't really recommend it, and instead recommend just recording the audio, then snapping everything to a grid later. It's a lot less effort. The latency doesn't usually become an issue if you're doing multitrack midi recording though, since it doesn't rely on being real time. You can just sit back and wait for your DAW to record all the midi notes while the Circuit plays, then disconnect the Circuit and work in your DAW like normal.

It's a shame the Components software doen't offer a way to mix & export whatever you have created on your device.

But when I chained them together all the sounds played in scene 1,2,3,4 and 5 if that makes sense ,instead of building up . Can anyone tell me where im going wrong
@GabeMillerMusic10 ай бұрын
Scenes are just combinations of patterns, and chaining scenes together makes them play in order. So you'll want to select your patterns so that all your instruments are playing at the same time, then save that combination of patterns as a scene. This video might help make that make a bit more sense: kzbin.info/www/bejne/gHOvoKF8Yticg6Msi=lGLWrPyhXCEuw9fz

Upon viewing this I realized I am far from the target audience... headphone out to a laptop? Why not use the 1/4 TRS and feed the thing into a mixer with FX send, eq, limit/compress...
@GabeMillerMusic3 жыл бұрын
That's just one method I showed that will be very easily accessible to complete beginners to this stuff. I also showed recording the 1/4 stereo outs into an audio interface. I personally prefer to just record the raw signal, then master in my DAW, rather than use a mixer, but that's just me. I figured that anyone who wants to use a mixer with sends and such already knows what they're doing.
@EnochDark3 жыл бұрын
@@GabeMillerMusic I am 100% dawless and consider the mixer and rack units as instruments in their own right ;) While we're here though, do you know if it's possible to feed the Tracks back into itself? Since there's no way to separate tracks from each other, feeding the Tracks back into itself would feed EVERYTHING. My guess is that it would just cause ear shattering feedback.

@GabeMillerMusic2 жыл бұрын
I did my best to explain the jargon as I went, although I did assume the audience for this video would be somewhat familiar with the Circuit's user interface. Scenes aren't just loops, they're combinations of patterns (the patterns themselves are basically just loops). Different scenes can hold different combinations of patterns, so they're useful for building up a bigger arrangement. And this is not some term I just came up with, they're literally called that on the Circuit. Also I know this is not the first comment you've left... If the video style doesn't do it for you, stop watching/commenting, unless you really want to live up to your username.
