Novation Launchkey 25 / 49 / 61 MK2 FL Studio Setup

Be sure you set the correct controller type for the different instances of the Launchkey 49 MK2. Look around the 8:30 mark in the video. The MIDI instance should use the 'performance' version, while the InControl instance should use the 'keyboard' version in the newer FL Studio versions. Email [e-mail] if you run into any issues. It's the quickest way to get support.

Hey, you can easily link each FPC pad to a mixer track. - First link FPC to a mixer track, then click on each pad and change its output in the top-right corner of FPC. - Once you've linked all your pads, click the arrow in the top-left of FPC and click "Add to plugin database". - From now on, when you open FPC, the pads will already be linked to the mixer. Cool template though!

Try the below steps if you have issues. For those that have issues follow the steps in this comment here Put the template in both folders. In the 'Novation Launchkey MK2' folder AND in the 'Novation Launchkey' folder. In FL MIDI settings make sure it looks just like mine. In the Output section (the top) Launchkey Mini should be controller type "Novation Launchkey MK2 (keyboard)" and the bottom one MIDIOUT2 should be controller type "Novation Launchkey (performance)". Same thing for the Input section (the bottom set of controllers). This does NOT work for Mac OS. If you have a MAC, use the Akai MPK Mini MK2 or the Novation Launchkey Mini MK3 which I have similar templates for. Check my videos. Be sure to enable Midi2Out as well. It should have a green power icon for inControl to work. What do you guys think? Who has this working and loving it? Let me know!

Follwed the same steps he provided only difference is for mac, 1. go to applications 2. Right click on fl studios and click show contents(this is how you bring up the hidden files) 3. Open the file Al Be has provided, then open the file of your choice in notes(free app comes with all macs). Copy the opened file contents 4. Open the launchkey mk2 25 6th file in notes and replace the contents with the file you copied into the 6th file in the novation launchkey mk2 25 folder. All steps matches what Al Be tells you just some work arounds for macs. Hopefully this works for you like it did for me.

I got the akai mpk mini a year ago when I first started using FL, ONLY cuz u made a video for that controller doing the exact same thing that hooked up the drum pads to the channels. Only reason I got the Novation Launchkey 25 was...u guessed it, the same reason, I just wanted the same small midi controller with these same drum pad functions but with full size keys (those mini keys are just too damn small for me, but the akai drumpads are still superior in my opinion). Anyways just wanted to say good lookin for puttin this video out!! Idk how long it took u to figure this shit out but 7 bucks is the least I could do for ur time. And oh yeah, fuck FPC. Lol. This workflow method shits on that all day. One love!

Worked out perfectly for me. Thanks. Couple of observations. Firstly, FL20 installs to the Program (x86) folder, regardless of whether it is 64 or 32 bit, so searching for that folder threw me for a bit cos I was looking in Program Files. Secondly, I needed to have InControl selected to get this to work. That might be obvious , but as a novice it threw me for a loop intially. Thirdly, that organ sound is gorgeous. I've no idea how you would make a sound like that. Any pointers? Thanks again, great video.

In all honesty, the keyboard doesn't work really well for FL studio. It's intended for Ableton. That's why I made this template for those that wanted it to work with FL studio in this way. Make sure you select the right controller type in midi settings (Novation Launchkey MK2)

Hi Chicano. I had the same problem just now. For me, I fixed this by going to MIDI settings in FL Studio and making sure that MIDIOUT2 and MIDIIN2 for the ouput and input were also both enabled (clicking 'Enable' so that there is a green on symble next to each of these). Hopefully this will work for you?

You would have to toggle the template from this template to another template. Or use something like slicex but change the midi port numbers. It's not exactly straight forward so I would have to look into it.

@@ZachOry1985 yeah you can save a template. You should do this anyway for efficiency. There is a template folder. Make a project with your favorite defaults. You can even throw an EQ on the mixer tracks so that it's always there. Then save it in the template folder. After you can go to your settings and make that template the default it will open with that always.

this is awesome, but couldnt you just use splitkit preset in patcher and set the kit that way? you could even use something other than dum sounds in it. that way there is less cpu usage and you have one channel that controls a ton. Is this done for mixing purposes ? Im pretty curious if that would be the better route aside from using patcher.

I can help. Hit me on IG. Make sure you don't have the file extension twice. Page6.scr.scr make sure you enable the viewing of file extensions in your file explorer. If the pads don't change colors you're missing something.

Do you have a full version of FL Studio? If so, what version are you running? I just built a new PC and installed FL fresh, the folders are there and the keyboard pops up under input. Check that you don't have a faulty USB cable as well.

When I press the forward and rewind together at the same time, only the first pad on the bottom left lights up and if I press anywhere on the bottom row the rest of the rows (except for the 1st two) light up in different colors in pairs. Pressing these pads does nothing at all except change the colored pairs. Any help as to wtf is going on?

Try this.... Put the template in both folders. In the 'Novation Launchkey MK2' folder AND in the 'Novation Launchkey' folder. In FL MIDI settings make sure it looks just like mine. In the Input section (the top) Launchkey Mini should be controller type "Novation Launchkey MK2 (keyboard)" and the bottom one MIDIOUT2 should be controller type "Novation Launchkey (performance)". Same thing for the Output section (the bottom set of controllers).

Youre missing something. Be sure to upgrade the firmware on the keyboard if you haven't and no port set on the controller. (Different from omni channel)

You're truly a lifesaver. On my Launchkey 49 MK2 I need to activate the incontrol button for the drums for this to work tho? and is there any simple way to keep the drums like this on the pads while letting the keys always play from let's say Sakura or Omnisphere?

You should be able to select Omnisphere or whatever in the channel selector and play the keys should play Omnisphere.

You should be sure you didn't add an extra filename extension. I've seen people do Page6.scr.scr by accident if their computer isn't configured to show file extensions. Also try this... Al Be, is there any way to map the knobs / sliders? Your template works great but when I go to "Link to controller" a cutoff filter on one of my knobs, the knob is not recognised when I move it? There's a green question mark at the top left. When I move a knob, on the debug it says "Novation Launchkey MK2 (performance): BF 17 18 Control Change: Not handled Absolute 0%" - it stays on 0% no matter how much I move it, maybe why FL isn't recognising it?

Turning the top and 2nd 'InControl' off button fixed this!

Yes there is a way. The green mark denotes that FL studio sees the movement but it's not assigned to a function in FL. When you right click -> link to controller make sure auto detect is enabled.
