Having taken a look at the 'mini' range of Novation Launchkey controllers last year, I was itching to get my hands on one of the larger models.
And Novation certainly went big with this one - A massive 61 note keyboard controller which, incredibly, still works with your iPad!
Whilst being a great controller keyboard for PC/Mac software like Ableton Live, Cubase and Logic, the Launchkey 61 also serves perfectly as a control surface for not only Novation's own iOS apps, but also any other iPad app which supports midi input.
It's well worth investigating if you want to get into creating and playing your own music on a budget.

I bought this keyboard few days ago... And Customer Service from Novation has been so prompt with me!!! I recommend this brand unlike Native Instruments... Or even Ableton (Push) is very slow on responds... But Novation guys were really impressive and lots of resources online like ableton...They should add XY pad and touch strips to the current layout that would be copacetic!!! Almost half of the control surface is empty. Couple of Touch Strips should be above octave buttons and Large XY pad after record button. The Transport buttons should be lit and colored. eg. Play button must be green and large!! Record button must be red. The stop button grey. Back & forward blue.

How to store & play preferred instruments tracks instantly by using pads, without track button. For live playing. Example, playing Track 1, track 8, track 4, track 2, track 7, track 3, track 5, track 6, so on.

Hi Can you show us how to record sustain pedal using ableton live lite 9. I m using Novation Launchkey 61 with pedal and I am also using Modern Upright Addictive keys Plugins. But while recording any midi clip using this all, I can only see the ableton records only the key data, but the sustain from the pedal does not gets recorded. Any help or any video to show how to record sustain using novation & pedals with ableton will be a great help.

Nope. It is a controller, a midi controller. It only controls softwares and thus becomes a hardware. It cannot act as a hardware itself! Kind regards!

I have been using novation keyboard for 2 years. Recently midi sound in my daw goes very little. Even sound is not heard. Then i restart my pc and it sounds perfectly but suddenly the sound falls down. I use cubase 5 on windows 10. My sound card is also ok( focusrite). Can you help me?

Gawsh trying to assing pads to the kontak interface for like, djembe drums and its just confusion. Launchkey mk3. Need to find how to change the drum pads (piano key note trigger or what ever). Some work in kontakt when changed then some dont, launchkey (pad section for assigning pads to keys seems to do nothing at all) bleh, about to return this thing. Any help there? Checking manual again.. Thanks

I have this device and can not get the keyboard to work. We received a free membership to Ableton Live, installed it but the only sound we can get is the launchpad keys...none of the piano keys make sound?

Have a question...how do i use 7 octaves on the 5 octave midi keyboard? I have a Launchkey 61, using ableton live 9. I see - and + button as the Octave on the keyboard, press minus shows till -3, press plus shows till +3, what do i make of it? Newbie here.

You can only ever play five octaves at any one time. In normal position you can play from C1 to C6. (where C3 is "middle C"). Press up an octave and now it plays from C2 to C7. Up one more and now it is C3 to C8. Same logic going the other way - press down an octave and the keyboard plays from C0 to C5.

I had the same problem with mine when I got it. After I returned it and got it replaced with a new one it was fine though. I would suggest getting a replacement.

Hi! I have a question. Our church's keyboard player is using Novation Launchkey 61 plugged into windows/PC and he's been experiencing some latency/delay in sound. It's almost 0.5 seconds delay from contact to the sound. Do you know how can it be fixed or is that normal for windows? Thanks in advance!

you should be able to go into Ableton's Preferences, then the Audio section and adjust the output buffer size. As a rule of thumb, you'll want it to be relatively low if you're playing a midi controller, so your latency is much lower. Then you bump that buffer up if you're playing back a more complicated, layered recording you've put together.

Keyboard controllers like this don't have any of their own sounds. They trigger (play) sounds in your software.

recently i have accorded myself a novation lunchkey 61) and i have install all the drivers and i am playing the keyboard also but when i use the pitch bender the whole keyboard transposes it self. and the whole keyboard basically transposes it self into different keys. its like E becomes D or F and i don;t know how to fix it. i really really love reaper but i am poor and i live in a 3rd world country so getting a new keyboard is like 3 years on my salary so i don't know what i will do. but the mod wheel works fine i must say. so is it a hard ware problem or a software problem i don't know and can you tell me how to fix it thanks for the advice in advance. my previous yamaha psr didn't have that issue though.

Kranty & keys A pitch wheel adjusts the pitch of the keys. If you hold down a note and slide the wheel up and it changes pitch its working right

@@fiercekoolaid7711 I know that sir its just when i use the pitch wheel the whole keyboard shifts its pitch after releasing the bender this is a really horrible issue for me since i can't use the bender. Because after using it the whole keyboards pitch changes like E becomes D# or F depending on the way of pitch bending and it is horrible because imagine you r playing a lick and u use the bender for a phrase but than when u play normally with using the pitch or anything the whole keyboard changes its pitch
