Nice update. And yes, you don’t want to buy an expensive breeder without knowing all the details and history surrounding the bird. Good luck in 2024 my friend!

loved seeing your son involved (hopefully he wont drop out). just keep doing what your doing mate regarding your breeding plan.if I was starting again I wouldn't have prisoner stock birds (much healthier flying out) my winning race birds bred winners anyway.

I know a very good fancier who let some of his stock birds loft fly. He lost his NPO winning bird like that (bc the hawk got him), sometimes the risk doesn’t outway the reward. Also it is very common here in the Netherlands to retire birds from flying. Plus The birds don’t seem to mind at all

I restarted with my dad again this year, so I just want to ensure you not pushing you’re kids it’s the best option. If they have interest in the birds they will join you when it’s time. Also I just like to spend the time with my dad going to pigeon shows or visiting other fanciers with him. And just wondering with him what this season is gonna bring. That’s why I love the sport bc no matter how much you do or how good you’re birds are you never know what’s gonna happen. And speculating about it with my dad just makes it so enjoyable also bc my dad has a busy job and helping him out makes me feel pretty good

Good to see the boy still being involved and youre doing a great job of encouragement without pressure. Finding great birds at auction is a very difficult task, the most important values in a pigeon cant be seen, heart, lungs, and instinct. Those are proven by performance and results.

I love watching this as a beginner from the Netherlands (so keep it up!!) and obviously i really love the pigeon sport. ❤🕊 I'm 16 years old and in my first year with only youngbirds i flew the 5th place from almost 10.000 pigeons. In our club is a tradition to give some off your best youngbirds to the younger ones or the beginners. That should be a rule all over the world. It helps younger people to get more exited about the sport, because the beginners can also fly a first prize. Saturday we are going to the olympiad in Maastricht, that is the biggest pigeon tournement off the whole world i think. I hope you get to the Netherlands sometime. I love to let you see how it goes around here.

@@howtotrainyourpigeon tbh I’ve had no video done, lol, we started with the idea of trying to do some loft improvements which has turned into changing stock avairys, hens avairy, cocks avariy, new front and roof for the youngster loft! Let’s just say weve about 3 weeks to finish and the still abit to do! So the focus has been trying to get this finished and hopefully do an update with breding etc mate 🤞🤞🤞 never long going in!

How did Archie get on? Great to see him still interested, I think your approach to keeping him involved with the birds is perfect 👌 I was in a similar position 25 years ago and our Tom, he's 33 now and become the main player in our partnership👍 I never managed to get my Mrs to go to Blackpool though, not sure if this was a good thing or not 😂😂😂. I think you made a good decision not bidding on those birds, maybe it was a good idea taking the wife or you would have come back with a basket full 😉 All the best with pairing up, look forward to the next installment.

Great humour Dan, maybe another good breeder like the boys at Angwyn family pigeons down In Cornwall might gift you a decent Hen but they have some for sale on their website, or the lovely Missus could buy you as a surprise or for your birthday.😂😂 keep up the VLOGS .

Cant wait 2 sse more from the show dan, good lad archie keep it up little man. I hop you and the mrs went 2 funny girls the vriday night 😂😂😂, loving the L Shape loft idea , but corridor at the front and aviary in front of that again leaces you with 6 foot deep sections by what ever lenth you choose, the Eirghkamps have them you can see them on you tube and they have loads of lofts with loft managers also as hans is to old now, definitely worth a watch allways. Was there many young birds for sale at the show and how much roughly please?.
@howtotrainyourpigeon11 ай бұрын
Very few birds for sale actually. I was surprised. There were more at Doncast as far as I could tell. But obviously more auctions at Blackpool (but not a ton of birds)
@desburke778611 ай бұрын
@howtotrainyourpigeon strange that Dan, used to be a fair amount of auctions years ago and a decent amount of young birds for sale but allways thousands of late breads for sale for stock, maybe because of the cold weather lads struggled to get there stock birds down 2 breed. I'd say archive loved the pictures of the diffrent types of fancy pigeons did he??
@howtotrainyourpigeon11 ай бұрын
@@desburke7786 no he's all about football at the moment. I heard a few people say they didn't have as many birds this year because of bird flu last year. I think they wanted to play it safe and not be left with loads of stock they couldn't shift?
@desburke778611 ай бұрын
@howtotrainyourpigeon makes sense alright Dan especially with late breads, the young birds I can only tink its those that don't have heaters are struggling to get them down on eggs since say mid December, in ireland the wild pigeons have being treading and building nests the last month but we have a lot milder December and January than you guys in GB, do you tink you will take John callaghan up on his offer of some young birds ??. Good ting with football it's training 2 nights a week and a match on a Saturday and that is it, so hopefully archie keeps showing an interest in the pigeons it would be great if he did especially help wise for you, what if you suggested to him that you changed you're name in the club from D, ..... 2 Dan and archie ......... might just give him that little more incentive
