Wise words indeed and in my opinion all your lawns and flowers are looking great just now. Its your gardens (And neighbours Lol) its up to you what you do and what processes you apply and what you spend big man. I like you really enjoy my lawn care hobby and will upgrade whenever. Keep up the good work. Ps are you not going to use the Allett on the front lawn ??
@NoviceGardener4 ай бұрын
Cheers mate. It's the best way to look at it. Some people don't want to do much to their lawn, which is fair! And others want to apply everything under the sun. Whatever works for you is best! I just like giving different approaches a go. I'll find ht perfect formula one day! 🤣 I'm hesitant just because of the stones from the road when it comes to the Allett. I'm still in that early phase of being really careful. That will go out the window in a couple of months 🤣

Any reason why the little bit of grass by the black drain pipe isn't looked after?
@NoviceGardener4 ай бұрын
It's where we used to have the bench. I've never bothered with it. But the plan is to stone it and build a few planters to go in the space. There's an awkward drain in the centre which scuppers it being a decent flowerbed.

Good general advice. Just out of interest, have you thought about adjusting your front path to remove the little grass strip before the extra slabs by your front door. Not an issue but it’s something I notice when you have to do the extra little cut each time.
@NoviceGardener4 ай бұрын
I have. It's something I'm hoping to change this summer. I wanted to stone it at one point, but thinking putting a few planters on there might be quite nice so it doesn't just look bare with stones. Annoyingly, there's a water grid thing (don't know the actual term) bang in the centre! Otherwise, would have made it into a flowerbed. Poor design whacking it there!

Looks fantastic. Put your cylinder on that, those stripes will pop big time 😀. Also what grass type is the patch on the left?

I just whacked part of a bent/fescue roll on it the day after I turfed. It had been baked in the sun, but has somewhat recovered. It's just a stopgap though so when I sort it this year (it's covered the mess that it was underneath 🤣)

Cheers! Looks worse than it is - lawn is decent, just haven't strimmed in over a month 😅 Looking to put plants in there that can go in front of the metal fence, just don't want anything that with stick out too far into the road.

I'm only 3 years into having lawns and its becoming a chore. Every year im getting it looking good in summer and then it looks awful and thins out and the weed grass and weeds come in. Surely there has to be an easier way. I'm not far off buying artificial grass

What height do you find best with your Hayter?

Third lowest setting is the best for the lawn I've got. Not too long, but still stripes up well.

The fescue lawn will win just give it a good water,rye grass will die off. Might look good but it does'nt look good,in winter. The bent grass,/fesue will survive.
@NoviceGardener4 ай бұрын
I agree! I'm interested to see how they all get on over the winter. If the bent/fescue lawns in the garden do well, I'm definitely going to going bent/fescue at the front too.
