How do you determine which spreader setting to use when applying it to your lawn?
@BudgetLawns8 ай бұрын
I start with a really low number and barely let any product out. I might open it a little more, but I prefer to let just a little product out at a time and make 2 (maybe 3) passes in multiple directions to spread it evenly. Hope this helps.

How does the “p” in the npk affect your thoughts with runoff and your drainage you have?
@BudgetLawns Жыл бұрын
Do you use anything besides fertilizer in your lawn?
@butchbr73 Жыл бұрын
Yes but I don’t have drains. I’m “learning”.
@BudgetLawns Жыл бұрын
This is only a second year lawn in the back and first year in the front. For now I’m feeding it a balanced fert to get it established. At some point, I’ll switch to a more nitrogen based fert with a little k and no p. As far as drainage goes, small amounts of leaching are possible but from my research through the university of Arkansas extension office, the affects of fertilizer runoff are not as much as people think. Fortunately, I have run all my gutters underground to the street. I have very little moving water in the lawn even during the heaviest of downpours. The catch basins in the back do very little after I redid the grade on the uphill side of the backyard to direct all flowing water from upstream into my dry creek bed then eventually to the street. I do my best to be as environmentally responsible as possible and take all precautions necessary. Beyond that, all that’s left is to do nothing at all. Hope this answers your questions. I get tired of tap dancing with folks about P because that’s all anyone ever wants to virtue signal about and ignores everything else. Not saying you’re doing this, just clarifying.

You are correct that there is absolutely no need to send major dollars on fertilizer. However, everyone should be very careful about putting that much P down regularly . If you don't see some sign that the soil is low on P, or have a soil test that shows low P, not only are you likely creating an environmental problem with too much P, you are also wasting money paying for P or K if you don't need it. AMS 21-0-0 is much cheaper and useful to the grass...

Yes, we did and you ignored the issue. Too much P is a serious problem and can't be ignored. It's too easy an issue to fix...@@BudgetLawns
@BudgetLawns Жыл бұрын
I didn’t ignore it. I made more points to your point and you never responded. The virtue signaling about phosphorus but not anything else people contaminate our environment with in lawn care is a tired act. If you’re gonna take up the cause, do more than just push the phosphorus issue. That’s the easy way out for you I’m sure. Likely because you feel good about yourself for performing soil tests but also know that you throw far worse down on your lawn than the phosphorus I do on mine. Go back and read our conversation and tell me I’m wrong.
@grayfox9911 Жыл бұрын
You are wrong. Whether anyone has a soil test or not, The red wave in FL is cause by excessive P. That is fact, not guessing. You are advising however many people to add P regardless where they are or their particular circumstances and that is wrong and @@BudgetLawns y excessive P. That is fact, not guessing. Oh geez. I'm not talking about whether I'm right or wrong about the P issue. I'm talking about your virtue signaling about it. Detach from your emotions for a second and address what I said after you claimed I ignored the issue last time when I in fact did not.
