neogeo cd has 2x the ram to load data into from the cd than what the playstation has, ps1 had a 2x speed drive as well, so two times the data max to load at half the speed. that's part of the slowness of loading on neogeo-cd and they had bought a big bulk batch of single speed drives on the cheap or something. the other part is just many games reloading stuff they already have loaded.

Man think how awesome would be if you could actually play the cartridges or rather the ROM files of the cartridges on this device as well it'd make your Neo Geo CD much more universal

Never too late to try SD Kit :) ... but you need to complet your full CD set on the SD card !! You didn't show the Cheat menu ingame, like unibios... And there a lot of new stuff really cool to try, like Hypernoid, Treasure of the Caraiben, Xenocrisis, Frog, Xevious and more ... This SD kit is a pure revival of the NeoGeo CD, and i continue to use it because some game like NeoTurf Master have many more option to offer compare to the MVS/AES version ... like Gran Slam, a 5th parcours, user profil and stat, etc etc ...

Neo geo CD Z was the dual drive version, At the time it wasn't much more, But man, It's loading was loads better, I remember having the single speed neo geo CD and yeah the loading was an ass with 15 sec loading, Especially if you have kind of fighters 94' etc but it was a fun console, As the neo geo is an amazing console be it neo geo CD / Z or Aes Or Mvs, Such great memories on these games SNK produced, So owning them now has never been so affordable to own the original arcade experience 🥰😇

Pretty cool! I always wondered is anyone is making smething like an ultimate version of the games that had less frames beacause of size restrains cuased by the use of the cd audio plus loading times. This seems to have fast enough loading times to pull something like that off.

Between these two, original system is better in general. Yes, Neo GeoCD games does have red book audio soundtrack (BGM for Japanese), but game sprites tend go have fewer frames of animation compared to cartridge version. So what's the (monetary affordable) acceptable solution? Original Neo Geo emulation, of course👍

@Jerome-C How is it different? Explain the differences in a practical sense without relying on meaningless buzz phrases like 'cycle accuracy'. It's an expensive way of achieving the same end result that software emulation has for years. Additionally, for people who are nostalgic for handling the original console original cartridges and those bulky controllers, fpga is just as soleless as any other kind of emulation.

​@@garethLLBI'm not going to waste my time explaining what FPGA is, especially if I'm convinced that it won't change your opinion in any way... you have to experience it in real life to understand that it's totally different from emulation, but in short, emulation tries to look like... the FPGA rebuilds the console's CPU (CORE) identically in order to run the game's ROM. The result is identical to the base console, without lag, without glitch, without sound problems. There are a plethora of joysticks that allow you to find the sensations of the original console. I'm not a FAN of FPGA, I only have the Analog Pocket + Dock. I play on original hardware on NEOGEO/DC/GC ...

OMG no, pandora is shit !!! take a NeoGeo MVS slot with Unibios 4.0 and a 161in1 cartridge at least ... but for the love of god forget pandora box !
