Honestly, I think the main problem is that they announced the game too early. Like, they announced it basically when they started developing it. I was hyped, but now I'm just like... cool. I think Mongo Corp coming back means having to get rid of skate stoppers and avoid guards is (assumedly) coming back, which is something I thought added character to the world of Skate 2. The selling point for me would be offline play, I know the Skate games have fun multiplayers or whatever, but everyone I know who has played the games didn't even touch multiplayer, because skateboarding in of itself is a solitary sport, which can of course be done with others, but it's unique in its option for solidarity. You can't play Football or Baseball by yourself, that sort of thing. Not to mention if the servers are kaput over time (like The Crew) or just suck ass on launch (like Payday 3), the game will just be unavailable to the majority of people, which makes all of their time spent "still working on it" for nothing. I personally don't mind the development times as, I mean come on, you see the game. It's not done. Full Circle isn't as big as Blackbox and can't pump out a skate game every year, I get it. I just think they're focusing on the wrong aspects in terms of what they're showing us, like pop up activities and especially quick drop. I personally am of the belief that if a previous game in a series has a certain (good) feature, it's reasonable to expect it in the next game. Quick drop was already in Skate 3, so It doesn't hype me up in the slightest seeing it in Skate(dot?). Those are just my views though, I wrote so much I might as well make my own video on it lol.

Also M Corp is being brought back from Skate 1 and 2. In those games the only significance they had were being security guards, would chase after you and kick you out of non skatable spots, and a lot of street spots in Skate 2 had "skate stoppers" that were placed by Mongo Corp, which you could call some characters in the game to come remove, like Big Black (RIP). I hope this is a similar thing but more expanded with actual story and lore behind them.

If a battle pass type thing were to be added, I would rather have it so each time they change it, it just adds more to the preexisting one instead of the Fortnite route of 'you don't do it all this season, you miss out on all this!' because it gets rid of so many things you could have used, but they just get rid of all of that. If you just add more things to extend the pass, it would likely lead to more playtime from whoever gets the pass, leading to them recommending the pass to others, which then leads to more revenue for the devs (or EA) without angering the players. Also, as you said, they shouldn't add some stupid collabs like marvel or some random movie stuff.

To me it seems like they're just doing too much, obviously to justify the online f2p microtransaction stuff but.. I don't know it just seems like a gimmicky game. Live service is proper going down the pan, and when a failed game dies boy is it burnt to ashes. Hopefully people wont be bored and have moved on by the time the game finally releases. I'd have spent 60 on a solid offline capable game. Tbh hell I'd even have spent 60 on an all in one remake of 1 2 and 3.. a la THPS1/2 Massive shame really.

It helped make the team working on the game and it allows very early feedback so they dont waste their time on the wrong things

Im sure the game will look great and play well once the development is done. But microtransactions will ruin this. Clothing for me atleast is one of the key parts of a skate game and having to pay real money to get your character looking fresh is so wack..

I have faith that FC can make a good game, just don't like the influence EA is definitely gonna have for monetization.. Skate got announced 4 years ago in 2020, it's still in pre pre alpha in 2024, everyone should be on the same page that it should not be taking this long. Not even just for release, but the stage it's in, it should have been in beta at least a year or more ago at this point. I get they're taking their time and making everything the best it can be, which I appreciate, but considering it's EA and they have 3 previous Skate games to use as a blue print, it should not be taking this long. That's my only gripe, I just wish they would tell us exactly why it's taking so long, what are they stuck on? All 3 previous games were done, out and Skate 4 was already in demand in the same time span as the Skate announcement in 2020 to present day, let that sink in for a sec.

The last skate games were made with old engines, unless u want a skate 4 that plays like old games and is not up to modern standards then it would be faster. The first announcement thye barely had anything to show, was just an announcement. We are forgetting most big games like this take up to 8 years of dev, and I rather have something that is shown and is constantly being updated than something that comes out broken.

@iloveordinarythings Honestly wouldn't mind if it played like the old games, which it sorta does anyway. I playtested twice and it feels like easy mode on Skate 3. Not wanting to use the old engine to build the whole game, but just port bits and pieces shouldn't be too hard. Activision did it with last years Cod porting over 2009 maps, and they re coded the OG THPS engine for the THPS remake, so it's definitely do able. But I don't know anything about actual game development so in my head it sounds easier than it is, but you get my point haha

All hype for the game died as soon as they announced it was always-online, almost no one is going to play it and those who do will play for maybe a week and then drop it, causing EA to see no more profit in Skate as a series, leaving it dead after maybe a year. Any good ideas they have or good changes they're making will go to waste. There will probably never be another Skate game because of this and there will likely never be a port of Skate 1-3 to PC and modern consoles. It sucks

Bros mad about a 2 year old game in development meanwhile everyone is absolutely thrilled about Sparking Zero that’s been in development for over a decade that’s still being actively improved upon. Certain games that hold testing don’t follow the same standards. I can guarantee that these devs don’t care about news atm they just want us the players to let them know where the game can be improved upon before opening up to beta or open testing even. There’s no reason to inform or provide news on a game that likely plays like the old one with clear improvements or changes in dynamics already shown or mentioned by the devs themselves. Any news regarding play testing would more or less result in everyone just saying there’s glitches we found but they’re getting fixed by the devs as we provide feedback. Game is clearly not finished either. Everyone is welcome to speculate but think logically when it comes to game development and testing. If you’re impatient just say so🤷🏻‍♂️
