Hi Tammie. Thank you so much for your important message. My friend, Lorraine has done much work with the local tribe, and is welcomed by them here. She is also a descendant of Cherokee blood. It is our intention to honor the gift of this song from the Dina Navajo, and to name the mountain by its name given by the original peoples. As people (including me) awaken, there is so much awareness needed of how to share song appropriately, and I'm sorry that this comes off as appropriation. Our intention is to honor. We are listening. Both credit and context matter and without it, this looks like nothing more than appropriation and the response to Tammie, comes across more or less as justification of that appropriation.
