I like that you don't lose the truck bed due to the hitch. I mean you do lose the truck bed, but they put another "truck bed" worth of space (and then some) in the basement at the back -- practically speaking, they just moved the truck bed to the back of the RV!

Wow, now that's a home on wheels! LOL! I like the bathroom sinks, mostly for aesthetic reasons. RE; the dead zone in the kitchen...I'd put the countertop on hidden hinges so it lifts up, then install a top-loading fire safe in that empty space, for my valuables.

Remedy for the kitchen "dead space": a coffee elevator or a mixxer elevator; how about a "tower of power" or a monitor to hook up to the camper monitors to view unfamiliar sounds outside?

My Grandparents were snowbirds in the 70's, first few years an 18" travel trailer and then they bought the 25" Sprinter fifth wheel. Campgrounds used to say "omg, we've never had anything that big here". No slides, Black wrought iron stair railing to the upper deck, totally open beds. Tiny rear corner bathroom with closet in the back and you had to crimp the clothes hangers because otherwise everything was on the floor when you got where you were headed. I have very fond memories of my parents several campers and borrowing that 5th wheel once. Times have certainly changed in my 60 years and good lord, we're so spoiled and don't know it.

This is more rig than we want or need or can tow with our 3/4 ton truck. That said...I really like the design elements. RV design is a series of compromises and Keystone decided to focus on everything a full-timing couple that has occasional visitors needs to have a pretty luxurious life on the road. This rig is *heavy* and long and, while it doesn't fit how my wife and I camp, I'm sure it's going to be awesome for those it fits for. Great video, Josh...even if you did miss the technical spaces. :-) (Yeah, it probably wasn't possible to film the 'garage' and all but I do love when you hit the more technical areas of these rigs...)

I like the idea of the garbage in the lost corner space. I could chop between the sink where I rinse the veggies and the fridge where I'll store them if I'm getting it done early. The best benefit is scraping the scraps straight into the garbage (assuming I haven't brought my lomi with me). I don't usually like vessel sinks either, but it works. I love all the half bath space for sun-blocks and bug sprays. I don't like double sinks though, so they lost me in the next one. I suppose I could shut of the water in one of the double sinks and store keys.🙂

Thanks for the great review! All I can say is Wow!! WOW!! That is an "everything" rig. I would not want for anything. I see no faults with it, stem to stern. The layout is spacioius, the storage inside & outside is hyoooge, absolutely **nothing** cramped. As for the road mode access? I do not see that as any sort of serious issue -- the truck you would need to pull that rig around would have plenty of room for a cooler to handle sandwich-makings & drinks until you reach your overnight stop. This rig makes me **REALLY** want to sell the house and start driving easy-going laps around the country. Dangit!!

Starting at the very beginning is a very good place to start. I see what you did there! I want this kitchen for my house. Seriously. That hard to access corner I think I'd put the coffee supplies there. I'm not sold on the vessel sinks. I especially don't like the space between the bowl and the counter. It doesn't make it easier to clean, it gives it a grand opportunity to get cruddy in the 1st place. I'd rather have an under counter mounted sink. I love that rear storage! Looking at it from the outside you'd never think the kitchen was on an upper level. Really nice layout, incredible interior storage.

Hi Josh. We just finished watching this video on the Montana 3901RK. A real beautiful full timer's RV. About the "dead" storage space in the corner of the kitchen counter. The first thing that comes to mind is the televator, but what about a corner "dumb waiter". (For the younger generation, that was an elevator system for food, from the kitchen to the upper floors). Cut the countertop, and use it for a top that the cupboard could be attached to, and then install the televator mechanism in a useful place. Personally, I think the televator is wasted space invention. It would be interesting to know how many people put the TV up and down. The elimination of the window behind the television would create space to have additional cabinets instead.
@mtmartianesq Жыл бұрын
Just had another thought about the dumb waiter in the dead spot. Instead of using the televator mechanism, possibly a larger version of the pop-up power towers mechanism. Release it with a button. Pull up until it clicks in place, then push an unlocking button and push the cabinet back down.

Hey Josh, we have this Montana model with the Legacy package and we are in love. Not too much we would change. We feel overall, it was pretty well thought out. Tows really nice, too, with little complaints. We are not full timers or seasonal. Definitely 1 ton territory, dually preferred. Dead space in kitchen doesn't bother us since this unit has so much storage, we don't even use it all. But a lazy susan there would have been awesome. Vessel sinks are my favorite and would hate to see that change. Easy to clean and alot less splashing onto the countertops. They don't scratch like the plastic or stainless used before and definitely gives more overall counter space. I personally love the 16 gallon electric/propane water heater vs. on demand. We have yet to run out of hot water and we can run it on the campgrounds electric instead of just our propane with an on demand. Our's has a headboard on wall in bedroom with the window above. I personally like that better and was surprised to see the change. A Montana unit should atleast have a headboard for a more finished look. I also like the shade up during the day for the window above headboard allowing more natural light in. The bedroom tends to be on the darker side during the day so the window above bed helps brighten it up. Road mode is do-able compared to some other models and like you said, with opening the dining slide I can access pretty much every thing. Half bath location is perfect in road mode if thats all you need while traveling to destination. I agree with a second awning kinda being expected. But would like and use it more if it was actually on the dinette slide vs. after the slide. I would also love to see an outside tv built in (similar to what you see on motorhomes) on the dinette slide. Thats one feature I was surprised this unit didn't have and from what we see on the current dinette slide construction it appears they could do that.

Wow, that’s an amazing space! -I’m short so that style of sink makes it near impossible to use without making a mess. Plus cleaning “well” is impossible. I’m a bit OCD when it comes to bathrooms. -That “dead space” in the kitchen is where the water take is what I’ve gleaned. I think a instant hot water heater would be more efficient. Then install a “secret” cubby with an auto left would be nice. Some people said a safe or a bar…I don’t drink so I would lean toward a secret cubby. -Also the bedroom windows could be higher and long so the shelves could be lower easier to use. I really like those daylight shades. I’m going to see if I can get them for my windows. It would probably help sleeping and staying asleep…🤔 Although I wouldn’t even dare to dream of having one of those. I would have to win the BIG lottery for all the other costs such as a truck to tow, fuel, insurance etc. I was watching and just dreaming… Since I started getting sick, I can’t “travel” like I used to. I can’t travel without going to the hospital at my destination due to all kinds of “exhaustion”issues and more. Yet all the doctors have no clue why I experience this. Nor do they look any further. Doctors are lazy and don’t care about some on disability. An hour drive, as a passenger, to visit my mom for a few hours puts me in bed for 2 weeks plus. Traveling in an RV like that (don’t think it’s legal driving down the road) or 1st class flight is the only way I can travel without a complete collapse at my destination but still extremely exhausted and takes recovery time. Up until my late 30s I was very fit and very active. God I loved life and the smallest of things made me happy. I especially loved nature and being away from concrete. I would get “concrete crazy” is how we used to say. Now I wonder what it’s like going grocery shopping. *NOT looking for pity. but if anyone else has this issue and has an answer…please post to this.🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻 An acupuncturist said I should try and move away from all things electric like in the city. I haven’t had a chance to be away for long enough to see if it would work…looking back even as a child my father and then I made sure I got out of the city at least a few times a month, I did feel better, I thought at least. First class always makes me think about one trip when I was in my 20s and visiting my best friend in “bf nowhere Arkansas” before starting a new job. It was always tornado season, I learned, when I was allowed to take my vacation and I did that for 8 years. One year my flight was delayed due to a severe storm. I didn’t think I would get out of Dallas on time and at best I would get to work without sleep AND probably late for the first day on a new job. The counter stewardess, Carol, was really nice as we were talking about the weather and how it was messing with our schedules. I remember that sinking feeling when my name was called over the P.A. just before boarding. I thought I was getting bumped off the flight. Instead Carol ungraded me to 1st class so I could get some sleep for my first day on my new job! I didn’t know anyone could do that. That was almost 38 years ago and I still think of her. I will always be grateful to Carol for her kindness.❤ I know money can’t buy you everything but it can make life easier, especially in 1st class.😂

This is lovely, I think I just love everything about it, except the floor vents. There's little things, like the door shade, but oh, the kitchen counter space, the room to the sides of the cook top. I love the storage and the layout in the kitchen. I do think the table should lay down flat against the wall, even though there's plenty of floor space, but if you have kids playing on the floor they won't get in your way and you won't step on any lego! Plus temp area to put buggie, or cot/playpen. Could they access that "dead" area, from outside instead of inside, then a hole in the countertop for you to put rubbish in, which you can get to from outside? I love the bathrooms, and love the look of the sinks but have never used them so I'm not sure if the pros and cons. It would be nice if the cabinets reached the ceiling. The bedroom is lovely too, plus the walk in wardrobe would be my hiding space 😂. No real need for 2 sinks in the bigger bathroom. All the criticism is pretty stuff though, this is fabulous #nerdherd #RVnerdherd

I wonder about weight distribution. Having so much weight (kitchen cabinets, residential fridge, stove/oven) above and behind the wheels seems top heavy and sway inducing to me. Also, I know it’s me but, I think people take way too much ‘stuff’ with them for a traveling lifestyle bordering on extreme. It seems the kitchen drawers could be moved next to the stove putting the cabinet door where the drawers are, making that cabinet a ‘lazy Susan’ feature to access the dead corner space. An appliance elevator garage space idea would be nice but adds even more additional weight to the back corner.

Heating vents in the floor. I know, I know, it's more efficient yada yada yada whatever. For the minuscule difference it makes, I MUCH prefer the vents built into the kick plates, walls, etc. Okay, last thing... why isn't the T.V. in the living room retractable into the cabinet behind the fireplace like the "other manufaturer (G.D.)"? ****Okay, ...**** Making these changes will make this Rv kitchen and livingroom fully travel accessible, also more open feeling. ..1st..eliminate pantry kitchen slide, dinette slide. There is plenty of area left for pantry storage else where. ...2nd..add a flip-up counter on wall for eating or extra prep space opinion. ...3rd..same at wall of the dinette add flip-up table for optional dining. The chair's can be accessed by adding a staircase to kitchen that will flip-up to cargo area for foldable chair's. ...4th..move entertainment center and bedroom forward 1-1/2 to 2 feet. ...5th eliminate dresser slide by adding to front bathroom area. ...6th..ofcourse washer dryer space is eliminated. ...7th.. eliminate second bath sink and make the one sink bigger, wider and deeper front to back using a vessel sink with spicket of to the left back corner. This is to prevent your noggin from hitting it while washing ones face. Also makes for more under counter storage. ...8th.. if possible shorten rv a foot or more at front closet. 🙂.....in behave of these changes what have we accomplished. .....well, reduced RV weight greatly., thus adding more cargo capacity..... .😢......Hey Keystone!....you know by the time a owner puts all their kitchen gear, bathroom stuff and traveling gear....that 2,259lbs of cargo for this campers storage underneath is crippled for the owner. Not to mention atleast 200lbs of fresh water weight while towing. ........so what the hell is all that under storage underneath the kitchen for with only 2,259 Lbs of cargo....and all that under belly pass thru storage for. Really! ...come on....make the fresh water tank capacity atleast 80 to atleast 100 gallons. Just maybe by making these changes your cargo capacity will be increased to 3,200 maybe 3,500 lbs.or more.

I don’t believe they are. I think it’s just a result of the hardware they use consistently
@scottmichaels12 Жыл бұрын
The problem is that the cabinet doors don’t open all the way because the handles are too big. With the “soft close” hinges, the door has to be fully open, if not the hinge will do what it’s designed to do and close the door. They should have either used lower profile cabinet handles or just don’t use soft close hinges on those particular cabinets.

6k payload on an SRW? Something is not right there. Please double check those specs
@scottmichaels12 Жыл бұрын
F350s typically have a 7800-8000lb payload. From what I understand, the “F350 camper package” is intended to be used on an F250s to give you a similar payload to the F350. They just provide you the same springs that are used on F350s. It’s essentially for enabling you to use a heavy truck camper in an F250. It’s just for adding payload but it has nothing to do with stability. A dual rear wheel truck is the only thing that will give you the stability you need for towing a rig of this size. An F350 has more than enough payload for pretty much any fifth wheel but duallys are for the stability.

In the kitchen, the corner cabinets could be a lazy Susan. Making use of that area, which is dead space now. I have had a kitchen with this feature before. Woks well.

Hate the vessel sinks and would like to see a mirror in the half bath. In the kitchen corner I would flip the cabinet door and drawers and leave it as a blind cabinet.

I was looking at the 3941FO, but feel the 3901RK will be a better fit for single person, full-time living (once i turn that half bath into an office). Large living room with high ceiling and an entertainment wall with upper cabs, kitchen feels connected to living, master bath is large with a walk-in closet and a full width dresser in master. (This is comparing the 3941FO vs. 3901RK)

This is an awesome couple’s camper floorplan loaded with quality standard features and “fans”👍👍👍but unfortunately the slide that helps make it awesome along with the steps also makes the patio area tiny and almost unusable in many situations😢

A televator for kitchen app[icances instead for that corner
@wnebergall Жыл бұрын
That is definitely a negative on the vessel sinks😮
@golfinginthesun Жыл бұрын
Imagine if they did a corner sink and let you have that sink area as currently designed as open counter work area - you can see the main TV while chopping vegetables or prepping dough. I would also rather have just a sink Le sink in the primary bath and then have a stack of drawers on the left side of that cabinet.

Great video and gorgeous rig. Any idea why manufacturers aren’t playing towards full-time remote workers? Where’s the dedicated desk space for computer, printer, etc? In this day and age, most full timers need some sort of office space beyond a tablet. Beautiful space though!!

Lost corner space ? Only solution I see to use the whole space is a Lazy Susan ! Eliminate the 3 drawers and slide a big old Lazy Susan in the space! 😉😉

I am under tall and really dislike counter top vessel sinks. I'd rather have under mount.

Drooling over these apartments on wheels. Hate vessel sinks, give me undermount. Surprised it doesn't have a on-demand water heater. Road mode doesn't really matter, this is probably going to be a set and forget model. May as well be a destination trailer.
@JoshtheRVNerd Жыл бұрын
I kinda agree all that around

What do you do when you need warranty work done on these “set and forget” models? And I’m certain it will need warranty work. Unless you plan on fixing everything yourself, these rigs are still going to have to be moved multiple times because many of these are purchased by older folks who can’t perform the work. I personally wouldn’t buy an RV that I didn’t trust to hold up to multiple thousands of miles per year.

For me the obvious answer to that corner is a lazy susan but that would lose the drawers and cabinet.

Why do they have different heights on the kitchen counter top. Great place for crud/crumbs to collect.

I found out it’s supplier related. They’re not able to make a single piece that fits. So we have to have a split counter

What is in dead corner to the right of the stove? I’ve seen others with 5 gal water bottles for drinking - that might be a good location to load from the exterior. (At least to the left of the sink). Overall, stunning unit!

Higher sinks stand, I don't like bowl sinks. Knock teeth out of mouth when room is on the darker side and bend down to rinse your mouth.

Maybe move the water heater to that disused back corner of the kitchen.
@JoshtheRVNerd Жыл бұрын
Could work. My only thought then is it’s a looooong way for water to travel to the shower..
@gaemlinsidoharthi Жыл бұрын
@@JoshtheRVNerd Oh well! Maybe a generator or batteries or fresh water tank. Must be something that could go there. Otherwise, just join it to the storage area under the kitchen and put hooks or shelves in it.
