Great watch as always, especially being down south at the moment for work so missing those Pennine hills and views. Liked the long shot down Blackstone Edge. Very silly speeds possible on that bottomish section if it's still or a tailwind (where you noted the wind direction change). Great fun! 🙂

Previously I've only had the hand-held camera for this ride so it was nice to leave it running and capture the best part of the descent. Garmin logged me at just a hair under 50 mph near the old toll-cottage - I'd felt a slingshot effect with the wind-change but without a handlebar computer I had no idea how fast it was. Let's hope the good weather sticks around for a while

Cheers, Jason. It's nice around Eccup with some tough climbs on Weardley & Arthington. It was 19C when I got home around 1pm but I saw it pass 21 C as I was editing the video - we're not used to these temperatures!!

Cheers, Ian. It's been such a long autumn/winter following on from a disappointing summer so I think we're all ready for a bit of warmth - especially if we haven't taken a short-cut and sourced our UV overseas. I can't believe my first 'shorts-ride' is this late in the year. Plenty of projects and rides in the pipeline so let's hope it lasts for a while.

Having that country in your back yard is great, and I'll bet your climbing benefits as a result. I've been riding in this area for nearly 30 years and I still see 'new stuff' or find new ways to appreciate how wonderful the landscape can be. Cheers, Russ.

Thanks - it was a fine day to be out. I walked to the supermarket at 8am and could barely see 100m but thankfully it cleared quickly. It's great cycling country and the long-awaited double-digit temperatures added to the fun. I was surprised to see that Garmin logged 49.8 mph on the Blackstone Edge descent. I think those wide, sweeping descents never feel as quick as the tight twisty ones where dry stone walls are whizzing past your ears.

Thanks, Roger. I don't think we'll be the only ones on the channel to remember those TV ads for budget LPs. I also remember cheap albums at supermarkets on the 'mfp' label - mostly covers from session musicians, a bit like those Top of the Pops records.

That's rotten luck. You've probably picked it up on Thursday or Friday and it was just making itself known on Sunday's ride. Forecast for Yorkshire looks good for the weekend and beyond so all being well you'll be able to enjoy some of the good weather.

I'm all set for a cycling karaoke summer, Matt. There's no going back now! I started double-wrapping my bars in the 90s after seeing the professionals doing it for the cobbles at Paris-Roubaix - trouble is, a lot of our standard roads are heading that way now.

Another fine Vlog showcasing the sheer splendour of my local roads/routes Gordon. Buckstones is a brute but well worth the effort just for the views up at the Black Ladd….. It’s nice to have the shorts back on mate. Stay safe 👍🏻

Cheers, Mick. Just a touch hazy yesterday to see the fancy Mancunian skyscrapers but the scale of the moors never fails to impress - even with the flattening effect of the GoPro lens. I hadn't realised the Black Ladd had closed down, although yesterday it looked like there were renovations underway so I won't write it off yet.

It’s been shut a little while now. Hopefully renovating rather than bought and turned into a housing. Too many of these public inn’s with so much character and history are being lost.

That's brilliant, Andrew. A traditional century ride is quite a landmark, one which non-cyclists can still relate to and be impressed by. You should be really pleased with that, and it's only May. On you go! I double wrap my bars for comfort, so the 1st layer is Cinelli Cork Gel & 2nd layer is Cinelli Cork.

@@clippingin1593 I wondered if it was double wrap. I’ve started to notice old aches returning, probably from vibrations and potholes, looking to mitigate some of the effects on old rock climbing injuries.🧗🏻‍♀️

@@andrew300169 I came into cycling in the mid-90s from the rock & ice world so I have an idea what you might be going through. Double wrap is an old trick - I suppose the next level would be to pad the contact areas with closed cell foam (Karrimat style) then single wrap - then after that it's probably suspension stems. I have some good track mitts with ulnar nerve pads which help with distance numbness - not sure if they're still available, but they were part of the Specialized Body Geometry range.

@@andrew300169 Cranking on cold limestone used to trigger my tendons, gritstone not so much. I was Sheffield based so I don't know Glossop, but in Sheff' there was the original Poly wall, the Foundry was excellent and then 93-94 came 'The Edge' nr Bramall La. with motorised-tilt lead-wall. All of that came between bouts of axe-swinging in Scotland 😁
