Like I said in the last video get 2 or 3 guards and try to gun for the hp regen tech ASAP

Another thought: you can get squashed at random by blocks dropping when mining from below. Not just from the boulders. So in general it's best to clear paths and mine from the side where possible. You want a faster route to the base and for carriers to pick things up more quickly.

IMO having 3 miners and 4 carriers is a bit lopsided, it's kind of like having only level 1 drilling in Dome Keeper. In any mining game, having more mining is good. If you do want 4 carriers, sure, get another barracks. Having a bit more miners is going to let you more quickly get resources as waves get harder, and you will also be able to continue drilling another block while having 3 guys to rush to those spawn points (three can mine one block at a time). By the way, the clamshell red thing that spawns an enemy gives 2 swarmlit (red resource), which you needed at one point so should help you in the future. It's a hard enemy, though, the one you called a "boss" and has about double the hp as a usual. In all, this was a great showing of improvement and enjoyable to watch so I definitely support more videos on this game. it has great potential if the devs listen with some quality of life updates like the ability to reverse a general retreat and improved miner AI. Edit: immediately after I typed my comment 53 minutes into this long-ass but great video you realized and dismissed a carrier to get another miner lol

Hey, you listened about microing people at night, I appreciate that. It is a bit challenging since you can't give direct orders but it will speed things up for you. Part of what I do, especially when the worms are in the way of useful resources is just cleaning up the travel path so carriers can move more efficiently. There is wiggle room for playstyles especially as you get more upgrades. I could see people running a few guards, with an upgrade or two and just letting the bugs spawn so you can focus on blocks that matter. I run a ton of miners 7+ and just micro them to death.

This has turned out to be a really fun game to watch! And awesome to see your play improving quickly as well ^.^ I have a little suggestion - if you're being overwhelmed by enemies at night towards the end of a wave and just want to survive that one more night, you could demolish some of the turrets at the top of the shaft once the enemies have passed them to upgrade the lower turrets and squeeze a bit more damage out where it matters most - I think you could've beaten the arachnor the first time you'd encountered it if you'd tried this - very situational though :P

If you dont want your miners to die at night - You can lead miners to an area by pausing - then selecting random blocks in a place that is safe and deselecting all other blocks. Then when the worm is halfway across you can press R on them (they won't die unless the worm hits them head on) Or.... If you're feeling brave then pause, select the blocks you want them to dig again and deselect the random "safety" blocks you just had them digging to keep them out of harms way. Moving guards around is easier - just middle mouse click where you want them to go (this is an upgrade in the main menu area)

I think the experience is for the "Division Level" displayed in the top left on the main menu and upgrade tree, and the upgrade tree had level requirements the further in you went; you were division level 5 and some of the next upgrades required division level 6

The platform building cost depends on the number of building that you have built regardless of the type. Personally i think it's a bad design, it's more fun for if you don't incur to this cost, if you want to slow down the player the cost can be associated to the space upgrade and not to the total number of buildings

Will be honest, with the amount of people that you lost to the worms and had to re-hire. While keeping the mine open at night is possible, I'm far from sold on how useful that actually is! Feels like most of the resources you would want to get from the mine faster, to spend on turrets, buildings and upgrades, just end up spent on hiring fees instead. Maybe it's too early to just give up on the idea, but in the interest of seeing how that can be handled better. I would suggest a bit of an alternative take on it. You retreat all the guards, so they can fight up top, all the carriers, because it feels honestly like it's way too easy for them to travel at the wrong place, at the wrong time. And so, you keep only the miners down there and active. Maybe just two to start things, until you feel like you have a good handle on it. Then three, and eventually maybe more if you keep going deeper and adding more barracks. You can easily manipulate where miners go, by which digging block are selected and using the retreat button on them. And if at some point an enemy spawn in the mine other than a worm, you can easily retreat your miners up so the guards and turrets can take care of it! Other thing I've noticed, that was specially apparent while fighting the mine's tougher block enemies. You tend to let your guards die and then re-hire new ones. But once you have unlocked health re-gen, you could retreat the guard that's getting low on life and probably save yourself a few hiring fees to spend! Just a little thing to think about! Overall though, nicely done on defeating the big spider! And getting to the bottom! Your turret placements and choice of turrets for strategizing was pretty interesting! I'll be looking forward to how things look like, once you've begun to be a well oiled machine, like when you play Dome Keeper!~

Just to add to this - I've found that barracks (and factories) are much more expensive if built on level 2 - but research buildings are not so much. So on the first level build 2 factories and 4 Barracks. You REALLY want to rush barracks. Day 3 = 3 Barracks. It's tricky but doable, and once you get it you realise it's super OP. Then keep research on the upper floors. Building more than 2 factories is a trap - you will definitely NOT get the ROI (return on investment) if you build more than two factories total. Getting your worker numbers going ASAP is huge, resources come in so fast. Have at *least* one more miner than carrier. (ie 5 miners 4 carriers, 7 miners 5 carriers etc) You can only have a maximum of 19 workers unfortunately. PS. Grenade launcher (+ explosives damage building) is *hands down the GOAT* for middle + top defense. [if you're lucky enough to get it offered to you] Also - let's say you don't have a guard: If you've placed a long range weapon (ie rocket or laser) on the wall at the bottom near your base, then when your guys retreat from a bug then it will follow them up to your base and your night time weapon will take care of it. Even if you do have guards - sometimes it's preferable to pause, click R on them to lead the bug up to your base to a lasery/explody death.

I'm not so sure about digging at night.... In my opinion it is not worth it. It's too risky, takes soldiers away from the fighting on top, and is simply too exhausting 😅 I went pretty deep in the mine and never done it (I am mindful though of not retreating carriers if they are carrying resources and are close to exit). I have successful runs with just 7 workers (3/2/2), but I'm focusing on their quality. Getting the first two levels of labs asap. Also important not to waste drillers time by making them go from one side of the map to another by selecting multiple rocks. I hope they fix this and the drillers will go to the nearest rock not the latest that was marked. Really nice job with combat and this run was much better than the last one 🎉
@LucklessLovelocks
@LucklessLovelocks 5 күн бұрын
Yeah. I'm still not sold on it. I lost a lot of workers trying to do it. Yeah. Keep the mining in the same area until it's clear seems like the way to go. You can also manage their movements better that way.
@HomelessNoob34
@HomelessNoob34 5 күн бұрын
The game itself is clearly not designed around retreating mining individually, ofc if you micromanage perfectly it works... The problem is that it's not fun to do it and not fun to watch someone (at least for me).
@BrophyMichael
@BrophyMichael 5 күн бұрын
I agree with mining one area at a time as the miners tend to waste time traveling between spots instead of drilling otherwise. But, building 4 barracks on the first level of your base is a *must* - it's so important to get your economy going asap Then research buildings on the second level and above prioritising move speed and drill speed (and healing)
@neverbored
@neverbored 4 күн бұрын
@@BrophyMichael you mean factories not barracks? I also think labs on the second floor is good, because they are cheap.
@BrophyMichael
@BrophyMichael 4 күн бұрын
@@neverbored no I really do mean Barracks - more than two factories is a trap. You will *not* get the ROI back from more than 2 factories. More Miners = More Economy. And Barracks are much more expensive on level 2 and above, research buildings are only one extra iron on level 2 and above. The game design is signalling to you that barracks are more important and should be built ASAP. If you get 4 barracks going, it's huge - and you'll get 2 iron for the second floor, and 2 research buildings (6 iron total) almost instantly because of all the miners and carriers you have!
