An interesting video without a doubt, but I hate to put a bit of a crimp in it. Bethesda is just very lazy when making things at times. All of the white labs coats, outside of the one that is Arktos labs, are vault tech logo coats. Just like with the Pitt raid zone, instead of using the steel worker outfit and helmet, they use the miner outfits instead. You could be correct, but I think in those cases it was just lazy or rushed by Bethesda.

Funnily enough this resembles in part a real life experiment that was done by Holy Roman Emperor Frederick II in the 13th century. It was to raise the children with minimal to 0 human contact until they were grown enough, So they could determine what language they would speak without having been raised around people who spoke or communicated in any way. They also weren't allowed to touch them for any longer than was entirely necessary. The experiment ended when, even tho all the children were fed, kept free of disease, and given all things needed for life. All the children died because of lack of human interaction. PS: Take this with a grain of salt as we don't really have a whole lot of evidence for this experiment's results and obviously its never been replicated to confirm the findings, although other similar experiments have been done there were too many other variables that changes too make them good comparisons

That makes a lot of sense. Even more so considering that if Vault Tec actually wanted this particular person (you) and his or her child for their experiments, then they would have been _way_ more purposeful. Saving those people literally in the second the bombs drop would have been way to risky and the chances to actually lose their targets would have been _way_ too high. . In case they would have actually targeted the player character and his/her child, then they would have made sure to convince their targets and bring them into the vault quite some time before the bombs began to fall _or,_ in case he/she would have refused, simply abducted them.

I remember reading an interview in an old gaming magazine back when they were big, maybe 10 years ago, with a dev of some capacity for the fallout games. They mentioned how the numbers of people in the vaults just wasnt really enough to justify/suggest that vault tech's plans were truly about re-populating earth should things go bad, but the number of inhabitants and experiments of different gender ratios, equipment malfunctions etc instead represented populations and conditions which might arise if they were to need to bugger off on isolated/damaged ships and populate somewhere else in the event of the catastrophe, and that's what their vault tests were actually for. But since it wasn't in a game and just a dev chatting we can give it legitimacy or not
@marhawkman3034 жыл бұрын
Well it's canon that there were hundreds of Vaults. Many were not manned with enough people for repopulation but there was quite a few that were. One thing Nate didn't mention is that some Vaults were earmarked for Vault-Tec staff. Having special hidden vaults for actual VIPs like the Enclave is a possibility. While Vault 13 was said to be staggeringly expensive... it's possible that Vault-Tec was siphoning funds and lying about how much it cost while they spent the money on something else. Also some are known to have had hundreds of residents and the highest confirmed number is 118. Interestingly the custom numbers in the Creation club Vault suits only go up to 120. So assuming 120 Vaults, with an average of 250 people in each(some more, some less), that gives us 30,000 Vault dwellers. Not a huge number, but significant.

This is great EXCEPT Some of the vaults had disgustingly cruel experiments. I’m not saying this directly contradicts the idea that they planned to escape to a new planet, but not all of the vaults seem to really follow suit For example vault 12 never actually sealed its doors to study the effects of radiation poisoning, and vault 11 where the entire purpose of the vault was to have the members of the vault sacrifice 1 person every year which they did until only 5 were left. 95 was filled with drug addicts and after a certain amount of time a room filled with drugs opened up. Once again, while this doesn’t directly contradict that they may have been trying to repopulate a new planet, but these select vaults don’t quite add up
@marhawkman3034 жыл бұрын
@L1qu1d S1lenc3r This brings up an interesting point. HOW did the Enclave/Vault-Tec expect to get to another planet? We've never seen them use anything more sophisticated than chemical rockets. Were they planning to build a city-size generation ship? Sure it works but it's SLOW. Your distant descendants will be the ones who get to the planet.... if they get there at all. Unless you upload your mind into a Synth body or robo-brain.
@Tekagi5024 жыл бұрын
@@Floormat-ux4rw The examples you gave can easily be explained in regards to testing for effects on a new planet or being space. The first one being vault 12 wanted to test prolonged radiation poisoning which is possible on a surface of a planet or from being in space for so long, or even in the event with a faulty power core. Why they needed to test for radiation poisoning and how they tested it don't have to be the same, especially when your trying to hide what your doing. Vault 11 killing one person every year could be a test if a colony could handle a decision such as this due to a lack of food or oxygen. And from the tests it looks like they would indeed be able to make the necessary sacrifice. Vault 95 could of been a worst case scenario test if people with an addiction to a substance that was no longer available would they still make the decisions for the good of a colony or revert to their basic desires at the cost of a colony if said substance was re-entered into the environment. Not saying it's right or wrong, but almost any Vault test could be explained as a way to test worst case scenarios. Even the one man and 99 women Vault could be a test if the colony due to disease leaving only one man left could survive, and if so what would happen. Knowing these outcomes in advance could help them have contingency plans for all these disasters.
@jesternario Жыл бұрын
Vault 77 did actually have an experiment beyond “let’s have a lone guy and a crate of puppets.” It was isolation. How long would someone last in a large vault meant for 1-2000 people all on their own. What would they do, how would they behave. How insane would they become. When you think about it, it was actually pretty disturbing. Not as disturbing as 10 men, 12 women, and a panther, but still.
@Anomaisie Жыл бұрын
Yeah, actually that makes a lot of sense when you think about it from the Tim Cain generation ship angle. Basically any generation ship would definitely have cryogenically preserved Enclave members hidden in it. They'd be the intended leadership caste with all of the generation ship people only reproducing in space to ensure a supply of labor for the Enclave bigwigs to colonize whatever planet they land on. But what if almost all of them died? What if there was only ONE laborer left? Could the Enclavesicles trust them to maintain the ship alone? Would they go insane? Would additional people need to be unfrozen to refill the labor pool? Would a supply of entertainment items be sufficient to stave off their mental collapse? All things that would have to be known.

If this is true, it's pretty unbelievable. Nuclear launch orders are designed to be incredibly clear and concise. Leaders are definitely noticed on launch of a suspected nuclear missile launch, at which point verification begins. You have quite some time to verify and intercept. While this verification is happening, the leader is then formulating a response if the missile turns out to be nuclear. The response is almost certainly interception - preferably above the ocean in near orbit so the resulting EMP does minimal damage, but you also then have to worry about the nuclear fallout which will be even more dispersed across the world. This is another reason nuclear launches are such a last ditch effort because the entire world is going to blame the launcher for the radioactive atmosphere and any EMP damage; they're not going to blame the country defending itself. Vault-tec causing the nuclear war, however, makes a lot more stance. If there's one thing any company wants, it's more money. The best way to secure more money is through securing more power as they're practically the same thing. Build a shelter from the government's weapons and encourage mutual destruction while you wait out the literal fallout. Then rise from the ashes with your advanced technology and weapons and produce an economy based entirely out of your pocket and start corporate feudalism with the board being the one controlling all resources.

There is Vault 0. In Fallout Tactics. "Unlike most vaults involved in the vault experiment, Vault 0 was not an experiment in human behavior. @@myaltaccountthatiwillbarel2288 : That's the thing: I dont see how F:T _isn't_ canon. Why? Because IRL, Cheyenne Mountain is two things: 1) The HQ for NORAD, part of the defense against the Soviets, being a part of SAC (Strategic Air Command). Who is to say that Vault-Tec, in its dealings with the US government -- and by extension, the Enclave -- didnt add on to, or lease, part of Cheyenne Mountain? 2) Cheyenne Mountain, even now, is still considered a place to go, as a destination of "Continuity of Government" plans. While nuclear war is fading as a means of waging war IRL, there is still the possibility it could be used at some point by a belligerent country. Why do you think that the US has been interfering with Iran and its centrifuges? Why do you think Trump attempted to get North Korea's Kim Jong-Un to negotiate? Because like him or despise him, even Trump knows that nuclear war would be bad for business. But my point here is, Vault 0 _should be_ considered canon, because from a logistical, communications and tactical perspective, it makes sense. Plus, if Vault 0 was the hub for all of the Vaults, then it would allow monitoring for all of the experiments in different Vaults. Vault 0 being what it is, is just too good, and makes too much sense, to not be considered canon.

@@myaltaccountthatiwillbarel2288 : First, what contradicting points were made with the main lore? After brushing up on the known information, it gels with the idea that those in Vault 0 went the same way as those in Fallout 4, in that those cryogenically frozen ended up dead. At the least, those people whose brains were used in Vault 0 and hooked up to the Calculator suffered severe conditions, such as dementia. All in all, Vault 0 seems to be the same outcome as Transcedence, where the minds downloaded into the computer did not realize that physical oxidation and other corrosion would still happen. Whether they planned for this via maintainence robots, or some other means, is unclear. What is clear is that at some point, the programming of the robots, along with the corrupted minds, corrupted the entire system. But the point I'm raising is that the original premise for having Vault 0 be at Cheyenne Mountain is sound, as it literally sounds like the civilian version of the government's own "Continuity of Government" contingencies. And, don't forget that, more than likely, Vault-Tec, being a pre-war corporation, probably did act as a contractor for various government entities, which would have given them access to government ideas and rationale.

There's a couple of questionable things here, but the Megaton bomb really gets my goat. It's not a Vault-Tec bomb at all. The logo is very similar to the USAF roundel with a circle instead of a star, and the bomb obviously wasn't armed at the time of the plane crash due to being over friendly territory; hence you being able to detonate it hundreds of years later. As much as this video feels like conspiracy strings on a cork board grasping at straws, I did enjoy all the new tidbits that were covered. Did you ever hear the tragedy of Darth Vault Salesmius the wise? I thought not. It’s not a story the brotherhood would tell you. The vault tech salesman was a dark lord of the mercantile arts, who was so powerful and so wise, he could manipulate his customers into buying spaces in underground vaults. He could even get them to purchase the day he arrived. Ofcourse with all the talk about nuclear annihilation, eventually all he came to fear was getting caught in a nuclear blast, which, ofcourse, he was. Eventually after convincing a family to register for space in a vault the nuclear bombs dropped, and he was kept out of the vault by armed guards. It’s ironic. I'm glad I'm not the only one that caught that. You wouldn't lower your voice to speak "confidently", you would raise it. But you would lower it to speak "confidentially" since you're passing on sensitive information. It's an easy enough mistake to make, but one that can also be avoided with careful reading. The same conclusion can be reached both ways, either by confidently declaring that the end is nigh, or by confidentially passing that info along, but there is a distinction. If the Vault Tec Rep knew the end was coming, it wouldn't make sense for him to be raising his voice during his pitch and scaring anyone within earshot into a panic, since he likely knew there was limited space in Vault 111. Actually, P.A.M., encountered in Fallout 4 in the Railroad, is one of these "doomsday planning machines" as it was supposed to see the future. It always warns you not to trust its foreseeing and was wrong with the encounter of the lone survivor not being part of its vision to begin with. And the repeated scepticism it proclaims of trusting its visions only strengthens there might be something the robot wasn't telling. And a console in the prior Railroad HQ (which was an underground military operations base before the war) tells that P.A.M. was used to tell doomsday scenarios and how to avoid them. But as far as I can remember, they totally trusted its visions. And priting bombs with logos is nothing new; you usually expect them to go boom and when a nuclear bomb does that, there are no traces of any paint or logo on it. And as narcissistic Vault-Tec actually was, I do not doubt a second they would print their logo on every part of every bomb they produced and used.

I was waiting for him to bring up Pam but it never happened. Here is the thing. I have always suspected that many of those vaults were populated prior to the bombs dropping. Vault 111 was an exception. But it also had limited cyro banks. So the occupancy was limited. The vault was also much easier to enter than the average vault as it had a outside access. The idea I suspect with this vault was that the food supply was deliberately in short supply because Vault-Tec did not want the support staff to be the ones to awaken the people in cryo. The wanted somebody from the outside to do it. And that would only happen once it was safe to occupy the region again. But even this vault had to have support staff already in place. But Vault 88 is interesting though. It was obviously intended to be a command and control vault. It was supposed to be staffed only by Vault tec personnel.
