Nowhere to hide Stolen Honda PCX 125 Scooter in Southampton 050418

Күн бұрын

After receiving an Automatrics motorcycle tracking unit motion alert we contacted the owner and they confirmed their 67 plate Honda PCX 125 scooter had been stolen. All that remained was a few parts strewn over the floor, including the ignition barrel.
We received a GSM cell site location to the West of St Denys and a cluster of GPS positions from some residential tower blocks a few miles away from the theft site to the East of Redbridge in Southampton.
Hampshire police contacted our find team as they were heading to the motorcycle tracker reporting location which was only 20 minutes away from our offices.
We arranged to meet the police to search the area . But as the stolen scooter was not visible the Automatrics radio finder needed to conduct a radio tracking search of the immediate vicinity with police. The highly accurate radio tracking facility immediately leads the finding team inside one of the residential tower blocks. View where the radio search leads to see the find operation unfold.
Our apologies to our subscribers and other viewers for the reduced quality of this video, unfortunately we had to switch to a fall back camera which did not have the rather essential automatic stability.

Having had three small motorbikes stolen in my time it gives me great pleasure to see this recovered before it was trashed or stripped. Not everyone who rides a motorbike does so for pleasure, it can be a vital link to work, my first was my only transport to and from an apprenticeship (about 8 miles) once it was stolen it became a daily miserable commute on an old pushbike. One note on the Police, bits of my first one were recovered and they saw how gutted I was (no money to rebuild) they pushed for compensation so with the insurance (minus excess) I came out about about even, stellar response from the Police but that was back in the 80's, I expect they would not be funded for the time now.

@ BAKERRR c The 'neighbourhood watch' is broken . . . Very few people want to be involved, as they are too busy with their own life and secondly they avoid additional problems they don't need. So if you were dying on the street after a fall, for example, the possibility of having someone stop and assist you are next to zero. It's a jungle out there. Society has degenerated over the past 50 and 60 years. Even reading some of these comments it becomes obvious that there is a very high level of illiteracy and thus Education. and so many have the attention span of a house fly. It will only become worse over the next 50 years. You will start noticing the changes after 2024 -2027 And when you know history well enough you will recognize those years as significant. Knowing History tells you much about the future.

In Hampshire county due to the volume of motorcycle and scooter thefts and policing finance cuts they are adopting a policy of no bike forensic unless blood present. Apparently they know the bandits use protective gloves. Having said that, the bandits may not have been so careful when it came to the tools in the shed and the bolt croppers, so they were all bagged up for forensic checks.

Following some channel comments we are looking were appropriate, to possibly include some suitable, action relevant audio backing music. We have completed an experimental version of this recovery with the removal of some of the bleeding obvious narration "like the scooter is now on the recovery truck". It came out to us looking pretty cool although we will need to perfect this additional edit if it is going to be a way forward. We choose not to post this time as experimental. We agree that subtle audio at relevant times could work out. We are keen to offer viewers more. Just putting this idea out there for general comment please .... Do you think if done well that this could be a good idea ?

AutomatricsMTrack Personally I enjoy the raw nature of your content, very satisfying when you find the asset and recover it (especially if it's a motorbike!). Spending lots of time in the pre-production edit would obviously be a good marketing tool for your company's services and showcase the professional way you handle things, but in my eyes you don't need it for KZbin only content. It's already apparent you do fantastic work. Making it too polished / TV documentary esq. may get tiresome quickly for every job? May even run the risk of the more easy recoveries seem a bit under dramatic and not worth the effort to produce and even post? Dunno, just my 2p. That being said, the BBC piece done about the R6 was fantastic! Perhaps invest a little in better filming equipment? Maybe something a little higher quality mounted on a small gimbal for better stability? Lots of options for GoPros out there. No idea what you currently film on (guessing a phone?).

Where does the meter come in - as it a gas meter, or maybe electicity meter? We use UK English here, it is METRE, not the dumbed-down US English where two words that sound the same but spelled differently is confusing for the (non-private educated) average state educated American. It helps our kids learn the language better too.

Bike thieves use private garages like this all the time, it's not hard to figure out if one is in use or not. Put a small piece of tape on the edge of the door and door frame for example, see if it's disturbed after X time, then you know it's in use. There's many other ways. If not, you could probably hide stuff in it for quite a while before anybody notices. It's not uncommon that several garages would be "hijacked" by the same group and used to store multiple bikes in. Look at the door frame where the original lock is, it's smashed up indicating forced entry, replace the lock and add extra locks, job done. The fact a block has private garages available does not mean the resident must use them, usually they're offered to the resident as an optional additional cost.
@jshorto
@jshorto 6 жыл бұрын
There's no extra cost for the flat owner for sheds even though each occupant has 2 sheds each and the biggest ground floor flat has in fact 3 sheds there's 1 just inside the lobby way for them.

Any devise or system to help recover stolen vehicles, in part or whole, has to be a good thing! Often theives are so fast that to catch them in the act is virtually impossible but if catching them in possession of the vehicle is made inevitable then its not only a good tool for detection but also a good deterrent once the perpetrators know that they run the highest risk of being caught.

I fkn hate bike thieves. I had a BMW R1100RT - the 1996 75th anniversary edition. They used hydraulic cutters to get the locks and the chains then forced the steering lock which broke the frame and ensured it was a write off. They think "it's insured, victimless crime" but because I had nobody to claim against it goes against me personally. I am now paying more than £1000 a year for comprehensive insurance for the next 5 years until that theft has cleared my record ( Basically I pay the insurance companies back with hefty interest ). I was paying under £200. What's worse is they only stole it to joyride. They blew the engine up. Now I ride a moped on 3rd party only because it's all I can afford.

what often happens is people are forced thru intimidation, to give up their space (shed) or "asked to look after" an item, criminals target people who are weak and unlikely to go to the police thru fear. The police cant be there all time to protect them and the criminals are generally living on the same estate so know whats going on.

I think the recovery truck is a bit small for that scooter, do you have anything larger?
4 жыл бұрын
It's quite common to see larger flatbed trucks with one small item strapped down like a bike. Even saw a mobility scooter on one once😂 I think they send stuff like that as it's not worth having a smaller vehicle on fleet to pick up the occasional small item and it's likely on it's way to another job in any case.

Nice cozy looking neighborhood! I wonder what's behind the rest of the doors. It actually makes me feel better just to know that where I live is not alone in the game. Had eight houses burgled on my street and the nearest crossing road in three days last week. As I think about it, I live just 40 meters from the fourway intersection so cars will always slow down but I may have noticed one in particular that seemed to slow and accelerate directly in front of my gate. I say may have noticed because I have seen it happen several times in the last weeks but I did not pay attention to the car model. Not that slowing to take a peak into a slightly obscured yard would be overly strange. Everyone is curious about everyone else, that is completely normal, and I made a pretty yard that might merit a slower pass if anyone is like me. I slow down when I see nice things and pretty girls or wild boar crossing the road.

Following some recommendations from our comments received on KZbin, we now cover the truck recovery cost. This helps owners where possible to "not make any claim on their insurance". Theft insurance claims cannot be blamed onto third parties so they can often wreck the owners insurance profile for at least 5 years, with some heavy premium increases from various insurers as personnel insurance claims profile information is shared. Getting a stolen scooter back can help avoid or reduce such insurance profile damage so that’s likely to be also a possible consideration these days.

I find these videos so interesting, and it is a cherry on the cake when they get arrests when the items are recovered. I don't know of any companies in Canada that offer this type of service... specifically trackers that sent out GPS coordinates, and when reported stolen, can be triggered to send out VHF or UHF tracking signals as well for more granular tracking. We have a tracker now by com-spec and used it for tracking our pets if they ever became lost. Do you know if your service would be offered in Canada or the US at a the same reasonable prices you have in the UK?

We supply globally and there is an international option in our shopping area. We even have a great customer review from the CBC who have used our services. Written by Jacques Taschereau I'm an Automatrics' customer living in Canada. I used the company's services to track items both locally and internationally. I was impressed by the trackers' performance. They lived up to my expectations. I was also impressed by the outstanding service I received. When we will need trackers again, I will definitely require Automatrics for their devices and their service. www.thediscdirectory.co.uk/se/po/fareham/transport/car-security/automatrics-limited-8292890.html

Should have knocked on their door, claimed to be the from another flat and told them that it looks like someone has attempted to break into their storage area. They would have gone and checked. Leave the door off its hinges and have the policeman waiting inside.
