I would go through MLB box scores in a newspaper to get the names of players to customize each team's roster with the real guys. This was the game that introduced me to the Sega Genesis. When I was a kid, for my 3rd birthday my mom brought me to a KB Toys store and they had the games hooked up to abunch of tvs in the back. Long lines for each one, the first line I got in was the SNES line where they had Super Mario World. While I was playing my mom kept saying "is this the one you want? Hurry up lets go" and I kept saying "waaait I dont know yet!" Well at that time I looked over to my right and saw a bigger kid playing the Genesis and on the screen he was fighting this giant blue rock monster. It looked awesome, so I passed the controller and went straight for that line! As soon as it was my turn, I was blown away by the gameplay and graphics. I was Eric Lacarde(the guy with the lance) and it was amazing with all the skeletons and different monsters that would come after you. My mom asked again "Is this the one you want?" And I immediately said "Yes this one!" And after that Sega was my console and it changed my childhood forever.

The advantage of World Series Baseball on the Genesis vs. Ken Griffey Jr. Baseball on the SNES, if you were a fan of specific stadiums, is that World Series Baseball had.a much lower simulated camera angle so you could see stadium details in the background while you were batting, while, in Ken Griffey Jr. Baseball, you pretty much had to hit the ball to the outfield if not over the fence to see a significant differences between most stadiums. As someone who went to a few Montreal Expos games per season in real life, it was pretty mindblowing at the time to see Olympic Stadium recreated faithfully on the Genesis with a significant amount of real world detail (aside from the ads, for licensing reasons). I hadn't played Castlevania: Bloodlines until the Genesis Mini came out when I was already in my 40s so naturally I'm quite terrible at it. Same with the other Konami game on the Genesis Mini, Contra: Hard Corps.

One thing to note though for collectors is there's actually two boxes for it. It was originally released in the standard plastic clamshell case. Then the second batch of releases for it were in the cardboard boxes they went with towards the end of the Sega Genesis life cycle along with games like Mega Bomberman and X-Men 2: Clone Wars for example. Ken Griffey Junior Presents is also entertaining for it's timing. Late in 1994 season, the Mariners would have to play the rest of their games on the road, as the Kingdome had some emergency repairs, as one of the ceiling tiles killed some of the maintenance staff, followed by the player strike. All this happening while in theaters a fictionalized version of the Minnesota Twins would se the actual Mariners give a mild preview of the 1995 season. As far as Nintendo's ownership of the team goes, that was all Nintendo of Japan's ownership. It gets confusing, because Howard Schultz was the former president of the American branch.

One interesting difference about the baseball games featured this week is that, as Projared pointed out, “Ken Griffey Jr Presents Major League Baseball” features the MLB license but not the MLBPA license so no actual players were in the game. On the other hand, “MLBPA Baseball” (which Dylan features at 9:49) had the MLBPA license but not the MLB license, so while actual players are featured, the actual names, logos and stadiums of the teams were not. However, over on the Genesis, “World Series Baseball” (featured at 10:00) was the first game to have both licenses! Genesis does, I guess.
