Man, I used to hate Bubsy! I was married back in 2004 and we retro gamed together frequently, but I knew that she only did it for me. For some stupid reason, her favorite games were Bubsy and B.O.B. They are fairly similar. She passed from brain cancer back in 2015 and now I only have fond memories of Bubsy lol. Funny how these games affect our lives in such odd ways!

It's obvious how much NOT into sports Jared and Dylan are when Haunted Starring Polterguy gets a spotlight instead of Madden 94, arguably one of the most influential sports games ever made. For those who never played it, this was the first Madden game to actually have the NFL (though not the NFLPA license) license, it had Super Bowl teams actually available to play without codes, it introduced the field rotation feature during kickoffs, and the first time "EA. It's in the game!" was ever used. Most football fans actually consider Madden 94 to be the best 16-bit football game ever made.

That Daffy Duck game is quite advanced, with several weapon types you can buy and refill at the shop, and maze-like level design in which you can get to shortcuts and alternate routes with a bit of exploration and clever use of your fuel-limited jetpack! Generally speaking, the yearly sport title refreshes are dull... But NHL 94 is an all-time classic. A rare sports game that could be enjoyed by most gamers as a legit head-to-head game even if you had little to no clue about the sport itself. Even as someone who loves sports and loved sports games in the 90s, this is an insane abundance of sports games for one week to get. NHL 94 definitely holds up as the best among those in the collection. I remember as a kid we had the Sega Sports NFL Football game but it might've been the 95 edition, and I didn't like it much. Same for their version of an NHL game to compete with EA's NHL series, it wasn't as good. The real scary part is what EA's franchises have turned into since then.

I have to disagree with reviewers about the Genesis version of Aero having worse music. It really has the same music as the SNES version, just for some reason its sometimes used in different stages (its noticable as early as the very first stage, where SNES begins with just the title screen music but the Genesis has a high-energy upbeat circus track). I personally think the Genesis is more fun to play but I think its just the version I'm more used to. Also, the sequel attempts to tell a story, but it comes up like the epitome of "making it up as you go."

At first glance, Haunting gave me vibes of Zombies Ate My Neighbours. But hearing about the gameplay, it actually kinda sounds more like Ghost Master. If you don't know what Ghost Master is, it's kind of like playing The Sims sadistically, except you're controlling a bunch of ghosts to scare away all the mortals in the area. MandaloreGaming can tell you more if you want to know more. Also, if Harriet the Pooka awakens something in you, that's perfectly normal.

Sunsoft was on fire in the NES days, with lots of great games. It's like they made a wish on a monkey's paw to be one of the top developers for the NES, but because of how they worded it, they _only_ saw success on the NES, since their releases in the 16-bit era did not impress in quite the same way.
@juststatedtheobvious9633 Жыл бұрын
I forget who made the point, but they said that a fall from grace like this was seen as a victory by developers. Coding for games is demanding, and often unrewarding work, unless it's your passion. When you make enough to just publish other people's work, or get bought out by a bigger studio, it gives you a lot more time to enjoy life.
@juststatedtheobvious9633 Жыл бұрын
Note: being bought out by bigger studios may also cause mass lay-offs, sadistic levels of crunch, brain dead executive mandates, and a complete revolt from the playerbase. Please consult a doctor before deciding whether selling out is right for you.
