Nice job on this. I like watching you showing us these albums. / box sets etc. Saw AEROSMITH/ only twice / both times at MEADOWLANDS NJ. First time. Jan/8️⃣3️⃣ with Richie Dufay and jimmy crespo. Tyler was loaded/ horrific show. Then in 2️⃣0️⃣0️⃣1️⃣. Tyler grabbed my hand as I held it up towards him/ he grabbed it and sang / after like 25-30 secs I got embarrassed/ pulled away and got cut by his rings/ bled entire show. lol. Had slight scar for long time. lol. My three buddies who were with me/ periodically tease me about that. Thanks. Phil. 👍💯

I have the 3-Disc CD-Version of this. Contain pretty much everything I need from Aerosmith. Very neat set.

Agree on the sleeve thing Phil had a few vinyls arrive like that . I have noticed that Nuclear Blast etc do separate the vinyl from the sleeve.

Wasn’t “Come Together” (Beatles cover) a big hit? What about “Lighting Strikes”? Used to see the video on MTV!

Wpuld have loved NO SURPRISE from Night in the Ruts, and WHEN LIGHTENING STRIKES from Rock in a Hard Place! There's also a 6 cd Japanese edition with live tracks!

This is a fantastic video Phil, I don’t wash them before playing😂

Yeah, it’s a pity the outstanding ‘Rock In A Hard Place’ and very good ‘Night In The Ruts’ aren’t represented - no major hits from those albums (bar ‘Remember (Walking In The Sand)’. Great review as always Phil 🤘👍

Very good point about Night in The Ruts!

“Lighting Strikes” and “Jailbait” are great tunes, imo. The band doesn’t seem to give those records the time of day. I’d rather listen to them and “Walk this Way” over Dude or Elevator, which I never need to ever hear again.

Looks nicely put together but really wish they’d done an album box set ( or sets ) like the recent Van Halen releases ( or the Stevie Nicks one ) although appreciate would be far more expensive.

Hi Phil - strangely enough I never got into Aerosmith at all, not sure why but there it is lolol. Nice looking set though. For me I collect CD's, and the occasional secondhand vinyl - these new reissues do look and sound amazing but they are to expensive for me. Question - have you ever done a review of "The Band - A Musical History 6 CD Box Set". I picked it up at one of our local boot sales for $25 AUD - what a bargain that was 🙂 See you on the next one. Cheers Doug

I can't speak for the vinyl collectors because this compilation probably appeals to them a lot, but from the perspective of a CD collector, there's a number of issues with this collection: 1. I don't see anything particularly new that hasn't been on other Aerosmith compilations. 2. There seems to be far too many edited/single versions of tracks rather than the full length album versions. 3. The complete exclusion of anything from "Night In The Ruts" and "Rock In A Hard Place" is insane, both really good albums, in my view. I already own the "Box of Fire" set of remastered albums and that ends exactly at the right point with "Rock In A Hard Place" and the "Classics I" and "Classics II" live albums - I'm really not interested in "Aerosmith The Stadium Rock Band" after that point anyway. "Walk This Way" with Run DMC is one of the few songs that actually annoys me and I really don't need to hear it again - the original was perfect exactly as it was without a "karaoke" version.

That Box of Fire set was a fab item, quite expensive now! I missed out on that - Phil

@@NowSpinningMagazine Yes, I am very pleased that I picked that up at the time. I've always considered "Aerosmith Phase One" to be about the closest that the Americans got to making a "Led Zeppelin" of their own and "Box of Fire" covers almost all of the good stuff - it would have been the perfect Aerosmith box set had they squeezed in "Done With Mirrors" too which is another worthy album but "Permanent Vacation" is really the point where I started to lose interest in their stuff - and, to me, what they did to "Walk This Way" with Run DMC was sacrilege to one of their greatest songs. That was the start of "Aerosmith Phase Two" and I've always just felt a bit "meh" with all that newer stuff.

I actually got into them via Pump and went backwards and forwards from there!

@@NowSpinningMagazine I think my first Aerosmith album was probably Night In The Ruts, which is why I hold it in such high regard. But I just think they had an extremely good album run right from the debut up to Done With Mirrors - albeit there was a lot of upheaval and drug abuse going on during those 6 or so years between Ruts and Mirrors. Live Bootleg was probably my second Aerosmith album because I remember my best mate had it on vinyl, and I just taped it.

I can't really see the point of another compilation. I tend to agree with Chris that this is another cash in. The newly remastered editions are cheaper and ultimately more readily available. And for me, this is something I wouldn't necessarily play very often, if at all. Nice set though it is.

I would only need the first two records. Couldn't listen to them after 1985.

Interesting…… it’s literally a four album greatest hits package. It’s interesting and different that they didn’t just release and remaster their first four or five lps. I may have preferred a more traditional remastering of their best lps.

Saludos 😊

...edited songs. i don't like edited songs. even though i don't buy records anymore its still a turn off when sets like this use edited songs on vinyl or cd's (though for cd's its sometimes a bonus track)

Ignoring Night In The Ruts and the criminally underrated Rock In A Hard Place in favour of the band's later and (in my opinion) inferior material is a shame otherwise i would have made the investment.

I guess calling the collection Greatest Hits meant some tracks had to be included over other deeper hits. Night in The Ruts is a great album.

Hard pass for me. Nothing from night in the ruts and rock in a hard place. Also missing songs from toys in the attic like no more no more. It's a pass for me.

I’m not sure the world needs another Aerosmith best of. There are loads and this sadly offers very little in terms of content. All seems a bit greedy to be honest.

Nothing great here expensive for what you get & track listing , selection is weird sn not chronological at all. Not worth it. Still hoping we get a full repressing of all the albums may be in a decade by decade set /release or just everything at once. Enough with the greatest hits though .
