Great Video! Ian McDonald also plays on a well recorded CD with a recomendable - Set List recorded in the 70s and 80s. The cover most people would overlook!! It could be up there as a must for any 70s Rocker! You probably have it "Foreigner classic Hits Live" is the name of this wonderful live CD. Tracks go up to 4 (Album 4) I would give it a 10!!! CD may have come out in 93 and the live long performances are from 70s and 80s Foreigner Shows...

So sad to hear of Ian's passing. Thanks for the tribute, Phil. Also worthy of investigation is Ian's solo album 'Driver's Eyes' from 1999 which features, among others, John Wetton, Gary Brooker, Peter Frampton, Steve Hackett and Lou Gramm.

This is what makes the channel so special. Fine tribute. Ian was such a vital contributer to some of the seminal moments in rock. We shall get a chance to see him a final time in the upcoming King Crimson doc, 'In the Court of the Crimson King'.

Hi Tino, thank you, i actually find these tribute videos difficult to do and worry about getting the tone right so your feedback is very useful. Another sad loss. Take care - Phil

Well done Phil on another 'tribute' to yet another musician sadly passed on.. he.would have been very proud of your video dedicated to his good self.

Hi David, that is very kind of you to say. I try and approach these as if the direct family might be watching.

Another thoughtful well presented video Phil. Highlighting that musicians have loved ones who will be suffering heartbreak is very kind. Embarrassingly i have had the Electric Warrior album since 1973 (and recently purchased the 45rpm version) and did not connect Ian McDonald as the same chap who worked with King Crimson...a senior moment.

Ian Richard McDonald died from colon cancer at his home in New York City on 9 February 2022, at the age of 75. A trailer for a King Crimson documentary was released a week before his death, where McDonald apologised to Fripp for leaving the band in 1969. 🤔 It seems to me that McDonald and Sinfield wrote all the songs for the first album in 1969, and also Cat Food.

Another really good tribute Phil, getting rather too many of them recently. Loved Ian McDonald's music. Who could envision he'd be a founder member of Foreigner?, I bought the album on release in Woolworths and as I read the back sleeve couldn't believe it was the same Ian McDonald who was in King Crimson...but it was, great musician

Hi Ian, thank you. I feel I have to steady myself in that I might be doing more of these in the future. Each one hits home as it makes us aware of our own mortality. Phil

Without doubt Phil, I'm 62 but still feel young (most days!) but these bad news moments do remind me that life is moving on. However, the music is there forever!

I had the Hit Blooded album second hand. I wasn't keen on it apart from the title track. On the first album for King Crimson, the group was done as a Democracy and Ian played a very large part in the album. Shame Robert Fripp knocked KC on the head after Red. Ian was under the impression he would become part of the group. Sadly not. Gotta love the album he did with Michael Giles. If he had stayed with KC, the long piece they did would have featured on the second side of the second KC album. His passing is a huge loss in many ways.
