In this #ShedSessions video I finally get my hands dirty 🤭 When I start building my custom Prerunner rear bar. After doing a tub chop for better departure angles i needed to add some much needed panel protection. This is part.1 of a 2 part video series. Fun fact - removing the earth from the battery to keep your electronics from frying is a myth, your electronics will fry anyway if you clamp on to your rear bar and weld in the front of the car. The voltage and frequency from your welder will go from the earth on your welder to the arc of your weld, so the name of the game is to clamp as close to your weld as possible. Only time I've seen an issue is when someone at a shop I worked at clamped on to the exhaust and welded somthing in the rear chasis. (In theory that shocked the entire vehicle) that fried a couple control modules

Looks epic man I a really don’t like quarter chops I usually think they look trashy and like you said most people never modify the tow bar so it renders the whole process pointless But this works so well it looks really neat The effort to make it flow with the kick in the guards spot on 👌

Grab yourself a cheap unimig or cigweld welder and start practicing mate. Trust me you will have a blast.

Good setup boss should have done a tray swap, reduce the weight in the rear and you get heaps of clearance, as long as it a Nissan tho 💪

Looks killer man and am sorry to be such a negative nancy as some people might see my comment being but, I would keep in mind if you have an accident while towing and the towbar is at fault you can be in big trouble as its not rated or certified anymore

Love your work mate, Is it legal to weld to chassis ?

cheers Patrolin, it is legal but technically to cover yourself you need to have it signed off by an engineer. I recommend chatting with an engineer before doing any chassis modifications. alternatively you can use a U bracing Tanique instead.

Rear main seal leak, boost solenoids and hot pipe leak.

Instead of mounting your number plate to the bar mount it on the side of your tailgate.

Someone actually made the comment of doing custom panel work and mounting it into the tailgate like the old mini trucks style. 😅 I'm happy with it on the towbar for now.
