Its hard to hate the G series as it's many a sim racer's first hand shake but in the current market it doesn't make sense to me without a serious price cut with the proliferation of low cost direct drives like the Cammus C5.

I found mine didn't line up but I've seen people talking about how theirs did.

Thus far I haven't drilled anything into my cockpit since 2 screws for the wheelbase seem to be just enough for its power (if it had any more I'd fix it better I guess). I'm loving this setup, I mainly play beamNG, Dirt 2 and AC(C) and its SO good

@@NPCLiam biggest difference is probably the pedals. The pedals that come with the R5 aren't load-cell. I was looking at the R5, but knew I'd want better pedals and a different wheel, so I went for the R9 with KS wheel and SR-P pedals. Got it 20% from Micro Center during Prime Day, about $700 total. I usually run 65-70 force feedback, which isn't too far off the R5 at 100%, just a bit more detail.

The R5 with the proper settings on ACC is unreal compared to the G920. I can see why people dog on the G920 and TMX after upgrading now LMAO. BTW if you want to make your TH8A shifter more realistic feeling grab the Clix Beetle GT mod. I ordered one off ebay from AUS and it was worth the $40 and 2 week wait. It adds the feel of the clunk into gears that shifter is missing.

Hey man try playing with the set up abit. It may seem overwhelming but some easy stuff to start with is bb (break bias) and aero. Lower your aero for more top speed or raise it to be more stable in medium/high speed corners. For break bias, if your front tyres are locking up move break bias more rearwards (increase it). Id say set up is also partially preference based on the driver but with the default set up compared to my own one i go just above 2.3 seconds faster. However it is possible to get gold with the default set up (with lower fuel and soft tyres).

Thanks homie! It's an amazing jump for sure. Been loving the experience. The rig is the Next Level Racing GTtrack. They sent it out last year as a review unit for videos and it's been pretty solid. Definitely too expensive for what other companies are offering at the similar tier so definitely shop around! I've seen TrakRacer and PlaySeat have some super solid options there.

I was about to pull the trigger Logitech g923 for 314.00 US. BUT, Moza has the R5 Bundle on sale for 439.00. And with Logitech's hub software a huge fail for their driving hardware, Imma thinking another 125 or so for the R5 is definitely the way to go. Thanks for the review.

I just ordered the R5 this morning. I’m coming from the G923 which does have the true force like the G PRO and I do think I’m going to miss the true force it really does add a lot. I was going to get the G pro for that reason but didn’t because I keep having reoccurring software issues with the Logitech unfortunately. I looked on KZbin to try and find a solution and there are so many logitech G series troubleshooting videos, which is not a good thing. I am looking forward to stronger force feedback on the Moza.

That’s honestly super rad though - but yeah direct drive is a pretty nutty upgrade for sure - depending on how much you wanna spend, work in some budget for better pedals, the SRP pedals that come with the bundle are definitely the weak spot.

I got a moza r12 and i tried an 20+ nm one and I think im just going to go back to belt driven or the r5. since the price point of the r12, pedals, shifter, hand break and chassis wasn’t high but it wasn’t that cheap either so idk. and I rarely use all the force feedback like 4nm is good enough for me.

The g29 really is a solid recommendation - depending on local prices it is definitely too expensive for the current market, but if it's found for a good discount it's still such a win for scratching the itch.

Base looks great, but honestly I have G25 Pedals with mods, and they would blow these Pedals away, plus no clutch included. Seems a bit cost cutting. I think Ill go base and wheel and combine with my pedals and shifter.

That is the nice thing about the hardware is you can mix and match stuff on the game’s end. If the G25 pedals are like the G920, yeah they’re close, the material on the SRP pedals are definitely nicer but just as if not even lighter to press from what I remember. Definitely the weakest part of the bundle.

That really all depends on your budget, but the R9 is a better base yes and overall Moza has a more fleshed out ecosystem for pedals, wheels and accessories for sure.

Oh dope! You either have to use the clamp or drill new mounting holes - the thread pattern on the bottom of the R5 does not line up with the holes the GTtrack. Luckily that mount does come included when you buy the R5 bundle so you could always start with the mount, then drill holes later if you wanted.

First time wheel owner. 2nd day with g920 and it's trash. The gas is too light, the brake it too hard and the secure knobs that hold the steering wheel in place keep disengaging. I do love the feel of the wheel and pedal shifters but that is about all. The feedback is jerky and feels like a caricature of racing.

It definitely misses on a lot of aspects, but how cheap you can find it I think it gets the job done. The real bummer is how Logitech have made those wheel worse over the years instead of improving them.

Why do I see all of these sick sims and setups while I have a plastic wheel c-clamped onto a plastic table with a dell laptop. I just don't understand like why are sims and wheels so much like my plastic wheel was 64 dollars I also have plastic pedals that I hate because when barefoot and you put your foot in the wrong place it pinches it. I just wanted a decent wheel but I thought the wheel was a good deal but I guess it's alright for a fun. Yeah I'm not sure what to do. But if you have any wheels that are good for beginners like are maybe less than 150 or 100. Anyway I'll be going now I have to do other things just chilling with a 64$ plastic made wheel..

The chair is totally solid but they just sent me a review unit GT Elite Front and Side Mount edition and it's so much nicer and also I think $500. Only thing is that one doesn't come with a seat.

My setup is nothing crazy only a 6700xt 3600x rig so I’m sure things could look better but honestly when you’re pegging it through the woods in DR2.0 it doesn’t matter how good or bad it looks. I do recommend using some sort of super sampling though, seems to be the most important setting of all when it comes to VR. Just crank that shit and set most everything else as low as you’re comfortable going

By a TON. Direct drive, which is style of the R5 base is a lot stronger and more detailed that the G29’s gear-driven system, plus Moza has a whole ecosystem of accessories where Logitech doesn’t.

@@aaronvarghese6955 Unfortunately not. That’s the one downside of direct drive is a lot fewer are console compatible. Moza does have an R3 that’s Xbox compatible and Fanatec has a direct drive that’s PlayStation compatible.
