In a case of devaluation and discard by the narcissist due to the target's failure of maternal figure, if the actual maternal figure is still alive and present why can't/wouldn't the narcissist have the unfinish bussiness(seperation/individuate) with the biological mother instead of seeking an external target? Please kindly answer this question it bothers me.

Not an expert, but I could assumev that original mother is highly likely so called "dead mother", apparently there is nobody to separate from, it's simply impossible.

Professor, thank you for your intricate explanation outlining the main features and descriptions of these conditions. I am very curious regarding effective treatment methods. How effective in field practice is the combination of psychotherapy and psychiatric pharmacology on most mental health conditions? As these are the only modern accepted treatment methods, roughly what propotion of patients actually completely resolve their conditions by these means? Are there any? Most individuals I know that struggle with mental health conditions are perpetually stuck on psychiatric pharmacology, and these medications primarily act as a sedative for their whole lives. If I was a healthcare provider, perpetual treatment providing only temporary abatement of symptoms is simply not good enough.

You can write books and sell them... then it might be a blessing... If you live in a big city, you can find on meetup app lecture clubs for networking. Also you have zoom and discord meetings for international networking. You can make a database in excel with a lot of libraries... many of them have different kinds of events including some related to books with online meetings via discord or zoom. It is better if you start to taste the waters with low quality meetings via meetup or yoga meetings (with low intellectual standards and high level of emotional content for training). Asimov had started with pulp fiction so it is not a shame!

Sir ..can you suggest the best way to handle or get rid a covert narcissist.......I was followed by him everywhere..they don't talk directly but gather information & try to break trust among friends, control everyone to create triggers. Thank you Prof. Vaknin for this. In your previous videos you talked about three stages of narcissist stages -idealisation, devaluation and abandonment. You talked about what is going on in narcissist head while all this is taking place. You talked about narcissists in relations with parents and intimate partners. I know its asking for a lot , but could you possibly give some similar advice regarding BPD ? I understand that I have no rights to ask for anything like this and you have your plans regarding this chanel and I hope I don't sound rude or demanding. Looking at my BPD daughter it seems that in relation with her partners all three stages - idealisation, devaluation, abandonment +disappearance occur. Its a bit like Walter Mitty. And there is no way to stop it. Is there any way that BPD people can be helped ? Is there any therapy for them ? Once again , I greatly appreciate what you are doing for all of us as there is so.much idiotic and I believe very damaging information out there. People seem to talk absolute nonsense. It's like agony aunts from daily rags talking about what is obviously out of their intellectual capacity. After watching them I feel more confused than before. Not that I watch any of them anymore to be honest.

Sorry i meant to say "discarded" not "abandoned" . And actually Walter Mitty is wrong description too. What I meant to say is that a person drops all her belongings, move to new place and starts fresh. New partner, new job, new place. It usually lasts few months. It's like burning bridges every time and starting from zero.

Question please: my girlfriend according to her own description is both nihilistic yet very passiionate about justice and love at the very same time in her thinking, both are happening at once and she doesnt choose one or the other. Also, she sometimes doesnt recognise people, even herself in the mirror and yet she does. (These are all descriptions to the best of her vocabulary to explain). She has a fear at night that when she dies at that very moment the whole universe will cease to exist too. She says she doesnt split because she believes two moralities at the same time and not one over the other but i think she does to be honest. Her emotions are inward and very strong. She genuinely seems to care for people but is it a fear of abandonment? She says that she simply exists but when with me its like she becomes like a fire hearth thats been lit and is no longer cold and empty. What please is all of this?
