haha that's not too bad for getting caught in the rain. I'm a cyclist/mountain biker in the Pacific North West we don't have a choice when it comes to rain. Unfortunately I've been side hustling after work so I have had to drive to work for the last two years. Before that I was on a non-electric road bike for my 50 mile round trip to work. Bikes are awesome and electric bikes are opening up the opportunity for America to be less reliant on fossil fuels.

For me of riding in rain or after is serious potential for wiping out from minor ones to serious ones. So far I've wiped two times, one on a turn only coasting , other one down a hill between a wide crack split which was wet deep. Its always at your own choice of riding in rain but you have to ride slower n more aware when in the rain.

You never pregreased the bike out the box,, pull all friction points apart and apply grease to them,, silent smooth running

that's why I like my 750w mid-drive mountain bike build because people don't look twice but when I'm riding my 1000w mid-drive motorbike looking bike people stare all the time in the uk but that's cool

Maybe stick one of those wallet size, cheap plastic rain coats in your pocket and maybe a sandwitch bag for the cellphone.

I used to ride my Rad Mini in the rain on purpose when it was stock. Now that it's been modded, I'm slightly more careful because it has a few JST connectors going to the Phaserunner, but they have been covered in heat shrink tubing and seem to be doing ok in the rain. I was in one sudden storm that rained so hard that cars were hiding under bridges, and by the time I made it 7 miles back to my car, my shoes were full of water! I keep a waterproof windbreaker with me, so at least my top was dry! Bike did ok, except for an aftermarket mode switch that got some water in it. Thanks for the video!

Would you still say heat shrink tubing is the best at waterproofing? I've got a 2021 QuietKat Pioneer, and I'm considering plastic wrap, clear silicone tape, a motorcycle poncho, and more. I'm a travel nut in southern Florida, so a need for this is an inevitability.

Cool video, you guys are riding where I normally ride in Morris Twp and by geralda farms!!! When you ended at the gated area you could have cut across to the parking lot on your left. That street was south street in morris twp.

Ride in the rain all the time fenders help a lot in keeping your backside dry but yes heavy enough your getting soak. I wear rain breaker and thicker clothes if have to go when raining and use to it. What I hate is the snow as have to clean bike every time due to salt they put on roads. Thankfully use to mountain bike downhill at high speeds as a sport so slipping not to much of a issue as a natural instinct to me to handle frontend and know when wheel about to slip. I rode yesterday going 45mph on the road when it was snowing pretty good. Was faster to take the bike then having to defrost car and remove snow as only a 4 mile ride. You get use to get after a while. I use the 5k watt motor electric bike even though some think it more dangerous to me handles well in snow, beside my mid drive which also does well. Just depends on tires and center gravity of the bike. Even though the 5k watt bike has a heavy qs205 hub motor it well balance as have a massive 40ah battery in center and frame is heavy, so handle surprisingly better then most lighter hub motor bikes. Did upgrade the brakes to surron quad piston hydraulic brakes a couple months ago as the dual pistons gave out as overheated and started leaking from seals. The quad brakes no issues good stopping power, no squeaking and have 400 miles on pads already as using the kool stop pads which are way better then most that have to change out every 200 miles before. These pads have 400 miles and barely any wear still a lot of pad left. I ride on the road a lot and hard on them and lasted?

I have a Lectric XP 2.0 which is made from a lot of the same parts as your ebike here, and it also makes lots of grindy noises occasionally when the motor is working hard. It don't know. It hasn't hurt the reliability of my ebike yet. Hope it's not something serious

I have a Lectric XP 2.0. Sorry for the late response. And no extra waterproofing needed for the components. For me, yes. I use various things like a rain cape that's super light but acts like a weighted blanket in the wind keeping me nice and toasty in the cold, although my legs and feet can get a bit cold sometimes.

Lectric bikes stock are waterproof like any cheap ebike is your wild for riding in the rain. But i got caught in the rain in my expensive ebike and i was freaking out. Now im going to wrap the fuck out if the electronics i dont care if its ugly or not

You may want to grease the motor. Many realize the motors are lacking in grease, and run smoother after adding.
@EBikeBuilder_2 жыл бұрын
There is absolutely no reason to open a new bafang hub motor to grease it. That’s a great way to mess up the waterproofing.

6:50 Ive found with my hub direct drive hub motor that when I use a serten amount of throttle under load it makes my Rotor vibrate and it tattles on my brake calipers ore so that what I think it is ive changed my calipers and disks so too many times and its all ways the same story but bright side it dosnt happen as much with ore at all (good quality) rotors that are 180mm upwards on my direct drive hope it helps Sorry if that dosnt make sense and is alot 🤣🤷

Bro. Technically, you're not street legal if you can hit over 28 mph on an ebike. Not saying you can't or shouldn't use it but that ebike technically isn't following ebike laws. In addition, class 3 ebikes with a top speed of 28 mph cannot legally go on trails. And if you can throttle past 20 mph the bike is also technically illegal since it doesn't fall in either class 2 or class 3 categories. Class 3 is 28 mph but strictly no throttles.
