This is one of many reasons why trump is such a horrendous hypocrite when he calls democrats 'obstructionist'. The democrats are opposing horrible and damaging legislation. Republicans would obstruct at every turn solely to make obama a lame duck president. That is all they cared about. They didn't care about whether the policies were good or bad for the people.

Have you ever considered that the American voters KNEW what they were doing when they voted in a GOP majority to stop Obama? Because that's exactly what happened, and they did exactly what they were hired to do.

Not the only one. I think he was kind of a mixed bag, but overall the good outweighed the bad. Will miss his administration terribly-- if the Democrats have any courage left in their corporatist shill hearts, I hope they resist Trump's agenda. It's going to be a long four years.

Are we in the same america??? Have you forgotten that Bush put us in the insane debt, housing crisis, recession, high ass gas prices. The country's financial state has been the best it's been in 14yrs. I personally have not seen this much construction in 8 years. This country is way better off now than before President Obama took office. President Obama did not create the division of hate. People just started showing their true nature and haters really came to the forefront. I am thankful for that because I would rather know who you really are than you keep hiding and sneaking your hatred. He was one of the most caring Presidents we have ever had. His legacy is that Obamacare is such a wonderful thing. This country would have been better off if there were not so many obstructionist in Congress.

I even listened to it at 1.5 speed, and it sounded normal. As a lying LAWYER, he knows very well that he has to carefully think about every word he speaks. Compare that to Trump who says consistent things at all his rallies in a normal speech pattern. Because as Trump speaks the TRUTH, he doesn't have to worry about every little word.

+Truth Hurts (Anti Bix Nood) I think a majority of America will look back & see that Obama was one of the best Presidents, both in terms of progress, his choice of words & actions. He did what he could considering the Republicans tried to block quite a bit of what he wanted to change. He had intelligence briefings & had to make tough decisions, just like Trump will, so we won't fully know WHY he did what he did for a long time. Usually, the FBI releases some classified documents about 25-30(?) years after the event. In MY opinion, he was one of the best President's America has had. Each person is entitled to their own opinion, however, and can politely disagree with me if they want. But I will say this: the man definitely knew how to speak & bring people together, whether through laughter or during times of mourning.

I imagine when holding the mantle of the presidency there are times you have to make decisions that will positively affect others, while negatively affecting others, but I truly believe you always had the best intentions for Americans, it's a shame I can't say that for the future president who has already blatantly made it obvious his policies will only benefit one group of people: the wealthy. @13:40- There is something about our political ecosystem (and we're all a part of it..) that leads us to avoid going deep into the issues that are really gonna affect peoples day to day lives (kids going to college or veterans trying to get benefits). That instead puts a premium on "shiny objects, faux scandals, trumped up controversies and insults flung back and forth." If we don't focus on how that happens we are a body already weakened and that then becomes more vulnerable to manipulation and demagoguery. How much different this commentary is than the vitriolic statements flung back and forth in this comments section...use your intellect and freedom for good, always look to do better. Be incisively and intellectually curious as to how to make things better. Damn, Dawn... Were you ever duped. Barack turned out to be America's most divisive and most corrupt president of all time. We now know he was deeply involved in the coup attempt. @@Sara3346 ... On July 28, 2016, Obama's CIA director, John Brennan, admitted to Obama that Hillary Clinton concocted the "Trump-Russia-Collusion" hoax, including paying for the fabricated dossier put together in large part by Christopher Steele. Trump supporters suspected as much, but Trump's man John Ratcliffe, on October 6 declassified Brennan's handwritten memo, which included enough redactions to confirm this news. Of course, our anti-Trump media and the corrupt Democrats did their best to ignore the huge, breaking news story when it was released, accusing Ratcliffe of spewing misinformation (much like they did when news about Hunter Biden's laptop was released). IT...WAS...A...COUP, Sarah. A long, four-plus year coup in which Trump's predecessor was deeply involved in. You'll also will want to look into Obama's January 5th oval office meeting in which he conveyed his directive to both James Comey and Sally Yates for: (1)f how best to frame General Michael Flynn (because Flynn knew too much); and how James Comey would leak contents of the fake Trump dossier to the media, and how Comey would inform president-elect Trump about the fake dossier (which Comey did the very next day, January 6th). Surely all that I've quickly summarized for you isn't new, right?

You stupid, ignorant fuck,@@Sara3346. I attended that same rally in which candidate Trump sarcastically said that. Damn....you're as ignorant (or corrupt) as the rest of Trump's enemies. Russia did not hack Podesta's emails. It was an inside job (within the DNC) by a person who's allegiance at that time was to Bernie Sanders. You may recall that the Democrat Party and Hillary were both treating Bernie unfairly while making certain that Bernie couldn't possibly win the nomination. Damn...this is all so old news; surprised people really still think as you, apparently, still do. IT WAS A COUP. And what's frightening....our DOJ is far too corrupt to do anything about it, either. I hold no confidence that John Durham will hold the guilty accountable. Dark days ahead for our country. China's puppet (brain-dead Biden) was who they wanted in the White House. WE'RE FUCKED.

Regardless of how we all feel about Barack Obama and what he did/didn't accomplish while as President, can we at least all agree that OVERALL (cause every President does have some failures) the United States of America is in a better place because of his presidency? I am a democrat but I will put political bias aside for this critique (for the most part). Yes, ObamaCare did have its problems, the national debt nearly doubled, Guantanamo Bay has still not been closed, ISIS became a military problem, North Korea is a bigger threat than ever, and shootings are seen as a bigger/more common problem in our society today. Also, he pledged to bring the political parties in Congress together and be a unifier President, but (whether it was his policies or the decisions by the Congress) that didn't happen. There were plenty of failures during the last 8 years, even his biggest supporters won't deny that. With that said, he does have many accomplishments, even with these failures; millions of people now have healthcare, Osama Bin Laden and many terrorist leaders are dead, the wars started by George W. Bush ended, Guantanamo Bay's prison population has been reduced to only a handful, and race-issues can't just be ignored like they used to be in our society. The unemployment rate is lower than it was during George W. Bush's 2nd term, the auto, banking, and housing industries have recovered from the greatest crisis since the 1930s, we have begun re-establishing relations with Cuba and Iran for the 1st time in decades, and the U. S. brought the whole world together on global climate change agreements. Furthermore, every LGBT citizen can legally marry, more states have legalized medicinal marijuana, women's pay wage gaps have decreased, he put 2 women on the Supreme Court, and millions of Hispanic and Islamic immigrants have become citizens. These were a lot of difficult issues to deal with in just 8 years, and even when the majority of politicians and citizens disagreed with this man he never gave up trying to make our country better despite many setbacks. Overall, was Barack Obama a perfect President? No, I will admit that he did have some failures, though he shouldn't be blamed for every bad thing that happened during his Presidency. Is the country as a whole better off now than it was in January of 2009? Yes, but we still have more we need to come together on (Democrats, Republicans, and Independents) to keep making progress to improve the lives of every American. Finally, in terms of being the 1st African-American President, he did the best he could despite the prejudice and racism he faced. Plus, regardless whether you personally liked this man or not, he leaves office with a decent approval rating with more people liking him than those that don't. While we don't know how many of his accomplishments or failures will be remembered in the near future, as a whole Barack Obama will be seen as the 1st African-American President that made this country better than it was when he started despite opposition and uncertainty; that (in my opinion) will be his legacy!

It is a valid point Obama makes.. that when he came to office.. he had inherited a massive mess. There was a lack of distributed wealth, and so infrastructure was neglected...people with basic needs to survive were walking the streets and in many cases living on them... and international relations were swept into the abyss. The reputation of the US abroad was in tatters with transgressions in Iraq .. torturing of prisoners...and like we have now a country that was full of fear and anxiety. And Obama made changes that were not heard of, because they were not bells and whistles or flashy changes. he addressed micro and macro changes. The media forever looking for headlines... only reported what they thought was not done. People wanted improvement instantly. Now, we are seeing the rewards of Obama's efforts, for which Trump is taking credit.. a fall in unemployment and rise in wages... nothing at all to do with Trump, who if anything, has sent a wrecking ball into all the recovery and reform of Obama. A public that was devastated by Bush.. given treatment by Obama...as best he could in his allotted time.. and now before the recovery can fully take place .. Trump has everyone being reckless once more. Governance has declined into sound bites. where the current regime is in election mode instead of governing. Trump won by default... and false promises .. and an unfair assessment of Obama's time in office. Obama apart from inheriting a mess, had to fight the spoilers in the congress, and among the elite and powerful. In other words, if we can not govern.. we will not let you govern. We will make it so the only change you can implement is through Presidential veto..and we (and they did) will hold the country to ransom by blocking supply.. an act which reinforces the bent of the conservatives to care more about politicking than governance. On that basis alone the public should have rejected a conservative govt.. for holding the nation hostage. Trump has no vision or policies for the country. His agenda is simply undoing anything that he thinks elevates Obama... and showcasing like a TV reality show everything he does, which is not reform, simply the politics of fear.. build a wall.. isolate America.. condemn immigrants.. perpetual fear and anxiety to create fervor and then portend to protect the public. Hopefully, we will see either an impeachment on the grounds Trump is unfit for office.. and at the very least he will occupy (because he does not serve) for one term. Lastly, we should take heed, those of us who are indignant at Trump's churlish and reckless behavior that is amoral and derisive, is to make sure we prevent it happening again, to sure up all the instruments that prevent a Bush or Nixon, or Trump winning by default and deceit.

One of the greatest presidents ever! Articulate, measured, and profoundly sincere... probably the hardest working president since Lincoln. Rushmore make space.

President Obama is the kind of president that you send overseas and not worry about the president insulting world leaders not to mention calling them names. Why have a huge staff and not listen to them?

If Trump could sit down for an hour discussion and sound half as intelligent, grounded, and respectful of all people, including opponents, and provide well reasoned assessments of situations as Obama does here, the rest of us could safely take our fingers off of the panic button. Just listen to him redefine the incorrect usage of the term 'political correctness' when what we mean to talk about is 'hypersensitivity', and how it cuts both ways, where liberals are hypersensitive about progressive social issues and conservatives are hypersensitive about traditional issues, like saying 'happy holidays' instead of 'merry christmas'. He is spot on.
