The country owes this president a huge debt of gratitude. He took office with unemployment at 9%, Bin Laden in hiding plotting against us, an economy in free-fall, a failing US auto industry, and more challenges than I can list. The brotha fixed that.

Can Trump have such a conversation? Can he articulate the facts as Obama has done? Can he get done what Obama has done despite the absurd opposition, sorry, even with support? I come from a country that has been riddled with poor leadership for over 50 years, its not pretty!!

Yeah, it would be something like 'I know more than anyone, I have a big brain, believe me' 'Those who oppose me are all losers. Excuse me, excuse me, I'm talking' What's my solution to Mexico? We're going to build a wall. Trade imbalance with China? - A wall. Exporting jobs? Wall. It's going to be HUUUGE'.

I am reluctant to 'support' Hillary. But when it comes to who would be the lesser of two evils, I have to vote for her. How is it that trump can even be considered given he: 1) Refuses to show his tax returns (an audit does not preclude it and he would surely show it were it to serve him well) 2) Has suggested the U.S. government could tactically elect to default on its debt. 3) Suggests that South Korea, Japan and Saudi Arabia might be better off with nukes, so that they can better defend themselves without our support. (military analysts cringe) 4) Advocates torture and violating the Geneva convention, which the U.S. has signed. 5) Advocates mass deportation at a level which would violate constitutionally guaranteed due process, massive expansion of the police force, and creation of a police state. 6) Advocates the killing of not just terrorists, but their families 7) Makes a general accusation against Mexicans rather than focus solely on the issue of tightening our border. 8) Proposes banning Muslims from entering the U.S. (aside from moral and constitutional issues, would entail asking EVERY person entering from EVERY country about their religion) 9) Has Putin as the ONLY world leader to speak well of trump, possibly even enough endorsement as to hack the DNC mail server in an effort to get trump elected 10) Declare Mexico would pay for a wall when it's clear any leader there to even merely suggest it would be impeached (or worse) within days (i.e. it won't happen) 11) When asked in the Republican debates about priorities for our nuclear triad, proved to be utterly ignorant 12) Has demonstrated no understanding of the important issues for other countries or groups like ISIS yet boasts he will quickly know because he has a 'big brain' 13) Advocates the U.S. simply reneging on existing agreements with other countries. 14) Blames negotiators for trade deficits, ignoring that U.S. consumer are responsible, and they are unlikely to accept the higher prices and the trade wars implicit in Trump's 'solution'. 15) Both in his name calling and general use of the English language, behaves like a spoiled, 8 year old brat 16) Has repeatedly filed for bankruptcy and does not even consider them failures because he maintained his gains (while passing the losses on to his investors) 17) Personally marketed 'trump university' yet when probed about its failures, suggests he was not involved, passes the blame, and cites very dubious statistics 18) Consistently exhibits all the characteristics of a huckster, one you would never trust for a used car, let alone be in control of the nuclear option. 19) Gets in a tiff with the press and calls it 'unfair' when they cite his very words. 20) Beyond building a wall, has substituted the phrase 'believe me' in place of citing specifics on policy. 21) Denies the consensus of many thousands of scientists from 200 countries that greenhouse gasses need to be reduced. 22) Will have conflicts of interest with countries such as China, where trump's properties in Macau and elsewhere could be harassed or treated preferentially (i.e. bribe). Then what? 23) Will NOT have the option to say 'You're fired' when senators, congressmen, judges, world leaders and more refuse to cow to his will 24) Chooses a vice presidential candidate with extreme views on religion, including the substitution of science for the likes of creationism 25) Repeatedly makes outright false claims such as seeing 'thousands of Muslims in the U.S. cheering the fall of the World Trade Center 26) Clearly and REPEATEDLY advocating Russia's engagement in our political process but then falsely saying it was just sarcasm. This is just the short list and it should scare the s**t out of you. While I wish there was a better choice than Hilary, opting for Trump is just WAY too dangerous

1% what are you talking about? When everything in my life went to complete shit back in 2008 I never thought I would get back to were I was and beyond. You may be part of the sarcastic "thanks Obama" crowd who seem to blame him for everything that is actually going right (like 5% unemployment, rebound of the housing market and so on) but I am actually one who says THANKS Obama and don't mean it in a sarcastic way! This is coming from a GWB voter (twice) and someone who does NOT blame GWB for the what happened to my life in 2008. However I do give credit to Obama for doing his best to make sure my life got back together and thanks to him and his efforts it did. He kept the unemployment payments coming until I could did myself out of the hole I ended up in. I used to work for GM making the Duramax diesel engine (screen name... dmaxsba, DMAX is the nickname for the Duramax plant and SBA is the line I worked on). I now work the Chinese (imagine that) here in AMERICA making GLASS for all the major automotive companies. How is this possible... THANKS OBAMA! Sad part is now I am (as is everyone in the US) faced with voting for 2 people who I do not care for in anyway possible. I would take another 4 years of Obama or GWB over Trump or Clinton any day! So very sorry for the "fuck you Steven" in my last comment. It is a 3 day weekend (thanks Fuyao Glass America) for me and I had a little to much adult beverage before I commented. All the best to you and sorry again for being my very rude address to you.

dmaxsba I don't know what to tell you. 70% of the American people think the country is going in the wrong direction. It's not just about the economy, but most people have seen stagnant wages and the jobs created are mostly part-time. The economy is growing a meager 1%. Debt has been doubled in the last 7.5 yrs. I ,too, have a well paid job, but it is not just about my own self interest. Other issues America faces: Terrorism is on the rise around the world and race relations in America have been sent back decades. Other than that, I suppose everything is just peachy.

@FernandoCaffroni

I saw that interview, and I don't think that that's "the other side", Paul Ryan opposes Obama's policies, but he doesn't personally oppose him, he doesn't doubt where he was born, he doesn't call him a Muslim. My point is, you can oppose his ideas and not be filled with fear and hate. As a matter of fact, I think that a debate led by people like Obama and Ryan would be great for America. For me, the other side, and what scares me, is people turning to politics of resentment and fear. As a Venezuelan, believe me, I know the damage that this kind of discourse can have on a country, even if it comes from "the left" instead of coming from "the right" as it seems to be the case in America.

It's sad that Obama will more likely be remembered for his shortcomings than his strengths, despite the fact that the latter, by far, outnumber the former. He is so charismatic, and is very perceptive on what America's beliefs are. He may not be a great president, but he's a good president, and an even better person. Intelligent and pragmatic. He embodies much of what a president should be. Nothing but respect for the man.
@speeddemonmodelshop7460

" and is very perceptive on what America's beliefs are" That is true only if you belief what he believes. If you do not agree with his policies, than you are labeled a racist or a bad American. That is what I see as his biggest failure. His Politics are extremely divisive. He always attempts to smear anyone that does not agree with him. It is smart in a way to win politics, but it is by no means understanding to the entire country. It surely does nothing to help unite the country in these troubled times.

+Monster Maniac did you even watch the interview? He's probably the most bipartisan person in politics I've seen. You shouldn't attribute the divisiveness you see as being due to him, but rather the Republican Party and trump. Trump is a big reason right now a lot of republicans are being called racist. So, no Obama does not try to divide.

@Aaron22000, buddy, I was born and raised in the USA. You can sit there and call me an idiot all you like, but that doesn't mean that what I said was wrong. Maybe you should consider being a little bit less of a jackass and maybe you can stop being such a tightassed son of a bitch? And @Monster Manic, no, it is absolutely not only "true if you believe what he believes." I just so happens I agree with what he believes; that said, if you actually watched the interview in its entirety, at many points Obama displays a fundamental understanding of what his opponents want. He understands why the people who dislike him dislike him, but you have to understand that he is to a very significant degree a man of character. No one should ever change his or her core beliefs because people disagree with, or dislike them. Furthermore, he does not "smear" opposition. He represents a (relatively) intellectual following, and he does not 'smear' so much as he calls out blatant bullshit for what it is. For example, background checks on guns. He says that it's idiotic to not have background checks on guns, and enunciates by citing that you need one for buying a car, and other things of the sort. That is not "smearing," but rather listing a point of disagreement and providing anecdotal evidence to support his claim. However, many people who disagree with background checks on guns trashed him for those comments. Does that make him wrong? No. Does that mean he doesn't understand those who disagree with him? Absolutely not. Now I'm all for disliking a president, but credit where credit is due, brother.

Meanwhile, Trump pulled the bait and switch weeks ago by saying that Hillary won't be charged, and you're still here raising your pitchfork with no idea. Again, you're not a very smart person.

He didn't think he was smart, he was asking tough questions and making Obama defend his choices. He did a great job and Obama met the challenge well.

I have nothing but love and admiration for Obama. It really bothers me deep in my heart when all these people are so ungrateful for his work and efforts. They blame him for everything.

Look I respect Obama a bit but you really have to take into account the horrifying implications of his drone policy and what that means for the future of globalism. This is a man that has killed hundreds of civilians and has killed American citizens without trial. I feel like saying you have nothing but respect and admiration really ignores a lot of big issues that were created and expanded under the Obama administration. In retrospect I think Obama will be seen by academics as a pretty run of the mill president

We all know the real deal, He had congress working against him and this country is in denial. He left the White House disappointed but not with a guilty conscience. He is a pure and dignified man with all the best attributes. He is The BEST POTUS (just felt the way you do)

Neuroplasticity can be observed at multiple scales, from microscopic changes in individual neurons to larger-scale changes such as cortical remapping in response to injury. However, cortical remapping is more extensive early in development.[4] Behavior, environmental stimuli, thought, and emotions may also cause neuroplastic change through activity-dependent plasticity, which has significant implications for healthy development, learning, memory, and recovery from brain damage.

The president is the peacemaker and tone setter that moderates the relationship between the government and its constituents. I personally am a conservative but I believe that Obama was a terrific leader in that sense. Have some decency.

Yes we can, but stateside always seems to be an election cycle ie midterms and why. Every 4 years I think would suffice. The political landscape can change every 2 years the way it is.
