I’ve never danced more in my life than Jupiter & Okwess at electric forest 2023. It was the best hour of my life. Their music healed me through dance.

Saw them live in Tenerife and the packed auditorium exploded from the first note. Found this when looking for live footage online and it feels like I have watched it 2 million times since then. Glorious Electric African Perfection. Thank you, Tiny Desk, for absolutely BRILLIANT editing / sound / storytelling in the film-making. This SO captures their power and personalities. No wonder they are touring relentlessly. Thank you thank you thank you thank you thank you thank you thank youuuuuuuuuuuuu. Jupiter & Okwessssssssss !!!!!

I've been fortunate over the years to have spent plenty of time in the DRC. Even in troubling times, of which there has been no shortage in DRC, you can always count on the street musicians to capture both the difficulties and the joys of daily living and survival. Jupiter and Okwess display a true feel for the rhythms and beats of the Kinshasa's vibrant street culture. Thanks Tiny Desk for spreading the joy.
