I’ve been obsessed with Blake Mills for years, one of the most fascinating writers I’ve ever heard. His songs remind me of men I’ve loved (for better or worse). I show up for anything he does, solo, playing, producing, etc. Compelling person and artist.

I’d known about Pino since the 80s. I first got wind of him when he recorded and performed with Paul Young. I remember my ears immediately gravitating towards the bassist’s playing, and thought who is this guy, he’s doing some amazing stuff! Then, a few years later, I hear him on a few recordings with the Eagles Drummer Don Henley… even though I did not know who the bass player was on Don Henley‘s recordings, that bass sound was unmistakable. I knew right away that this was the same guy who played with Paul Young. He is a brilliant player, and legendary on all levels.

Such a wonderful player and a great guy, had the pleasure of touring with the who way back in 2007 when pino was in the bass chair , he was always very generous with his time and dint mind me asking all kinds of Dangelo questions and even got to have a play of his legendary red P Bass. An absolute Master and one of the finest people you could even want to meet, I even spied him side stage checking us out 😝😝👍👍👌

It’s also so loose at the same time, like everything is in time but also so deep in the pocket that it almost seems unorganized, but in a good way. Extremely hard to play like that, but makes for most unique album I’ve heard in a very long time

I discovered Pino when I was a teenager, and of course it was alongside Paul Young. Whatever one thinks of the latter, he had the intelligence and the good taste to work with this exceptional bass player. More than 30 years later, I discovered Sam Gendel alongside Louis Cole. Two artists of different generations, but both steeped in talent

Gary Numan so brilliantly gave Pino his first recording project in 1983. As an unknown, Pino graced Numan’s excellent album, I Assassin, with fully developed melodies, chord progressions and song structures. The exceptional Mick Karn R.I.P. 🌹was either too expensive or uninterested at the time, not sure, but Pino did play somewhat similarly to Karn and Numan was very happy with Pino’s “pocket change” fee! Give I Assassin a listen, or a re-listen. It’s SO good 🌟
