Price of a Thompson at the start of the war was €250. That's why we produced Stens for £10. I know the price of Thompson's came down dramatically but you could still produce several grease guns or sten for the price of a Thompson.

The Americans weren't that happy with paying for the Thompson either, which is why it got increasingly economized with the M1 and M1A1 patterns, and then why the M3 and M3A1 'Greaseguns' were brought about, which can be looked at as the American .45 caliber cousin to the Sten. Very fast and very inexpensive to make, which is what they wanted.

I'm impressed that these guys take the trouble to name it correctly; "Machine Carbine" and not "Submachine Gun". The British didn't use that term until 1955 (interestingly, the first British instructional pamphlets for the Thompson were issued in 1940 and were a straight copy of the American ones and the Thompson was therefore referred to as the "Thompson Submachine Gun". By the time the next pamphlet was issued, in 1943, it had been changed to "Thompson Machine Carbine"; usually abbreviated to TMC).

Is it true the Sten Mk2 was designed to use MP40 magazines so the resistance could use captured German supplies?
@TheJarric4 жыл бұрын
its based more on 28 not sure if mags are comparable with 40
@0neDoomedSpaceMarine8 ай бұрын
The magazines are very similar, but not directly interchangeable.

It's Britain not England, if you just say England you leave out Scotland and Wales plus northern Ireland which pisses them off.

Saying Britain pisses off northern Ireland as well.
