Hey, I just got the new Blue Air 211+ auto air purifier. Got it today June 29th 2022. I have major mold allergies and some others. I’m now living in a 50 year old senior housing apartment complex. Air quality sucks big time. So my allergies and mild asthma acts up big time. As soon as I plugged this in, I noticed a big difference in air quality in my studio apartment. You are so right whisper quiet. With the new one you set it on auto setting, it automatically adjusts to air quality. I’m going to get the 411 model to put in bedroom area and kitchen.

I also did a lot of research and bought the exact same filter. I’ve had it for over a year and I’m delighted with it. It’s really good, so much better than I thought it would be. I leave mine on the lowest setting 24/7 next to my bed and you CANNOT hear it. If the rooms stinky, in the time it takes to have a shower if it’s left on full when I’m back in the room the smells all gone. Anyway, I totally agree with your experience. Cheers.

6 hours of "continual use"! Not six months of using it on and off. I've had it for two years now. It's on its second filter now. Also - very important - do remember to reset your filter timer if you decide to change the filter before the light turns red (just like I did)! I didn't do this, so the light turned red on the second filter way too soon. Now I'll have to guess when it's time to replace it again...

The Blueair 411 is a good unit for physical contaminants (ex. dust) in smaller rooms (160 sq. ft. x 8 ft. ceilings = 1,288 cubic ft.) at a very reasonable price. Pretty good choice.

@AirPurificationEducation
@AirPurificationEducation Жыл бұрын
@@nayhtoo141 IMO, Blueair is good at making 'good looking' air purifiers that are pretty 'quiet' and I think they are 'decent' for particulates. It says the 511 filters at a HEPA level on Amazon - but I seriously doubt it. Esp. for $99. Most air purifiers that say "HEPA" don't actually filter at a HEPA level (even much more expensive units). All that said - I think it will be decent for particulates but I'd personally go with the Coway Mighty or Winix 5500 if I was the one breathing the air... but that's just my opinion - Thanks and Good Luck! 😄

For Mold.... I would currently only trust the IQAir HealthPro Plus and then maybe the Aeris 3 in 1 (soon to be called the Klaara P7 Pro and available in the US in 2024). Next level down, I'd look at an AirPura Super Hepa and/or maybe a Camfil City M (this may be a great unit but I'm not sure yet). I’m finding that the filters don’t last as long as advertised because the carbon inside starts to smell from all the impurities it captured after about 2-3 months. That unpleasant captured odor is then blown back into the air which defeats the purpose of an air purifier. There’s a reason most purifiers have a separate carbon filter that you are prompted to replace every three months, leaving the HEPA filter to do its job for another three months or longer before it need replacing also. I wish I knew that before I purchased 4 Blueair products. The only solution I discovered is to rip out the glued-on carbon filter once it starts to smell. You haven’t noticed an unpleasant odor after a relatively short amount of time?
@NReluctant
@NReluctant Жыл бұрын
I have not had any issues with that. Make sure you buy the filters from BLU and not one of the many places that sell their versions, that’s the only times I have heard about that issue. I’ve had mine for a few years now and my filters last about 3-4 months but should be replaced regularly anyway on any air purifier. Sorry your experiencing that, it hasn’t been my experience though 🙂
@suedepup

@@NReluctant Interesting. We have indeed been buying the brand name filters. It's possible your home is not assaulted with the frequent cooking odors that our home is, thus your carbon lasts longer. So we wanted an air purifier to keep the house smelling fresh with all the additional dander and dog hair (the iLife v3s was much better than our old roomba for dog hair btw) - the blue air 211+ worked really well for us. I just got one a few days ago my god you definitely notice a difference from the quality of air. Granted I live in a state where we have the best air quality. But this is amazing especially when I sleep when I wake up. For the filters you can reuse them just wash them there is a way to clean it.

I am moving into a new apartment that doesn't allow smoking. I smoke but do not want to get caught. So, I will restrict my smoking to the bathroom; keep the door shut and the filter on. Is it possible to keep the smell of the smoke from going outside the apartment. with this filter? I noticed that many of the filters can only trap particles down to .3 microns but the Blue traps VOCS down to .1. Which would be in the range of smoke. How do you feel about adding additional anti-smoke products like the candles and gels?
@NReluctant
@NReluctant Жыл бұрын
I do not smoke, but I do burn candles almost daily and have not noticed any problems with the Blu. The filter on my HVAC unit also catches a lot of these particles, so between the filter on your heating / cooling unit and the Blu you may be good. There are also bigger air purifiers offered by Blu that cover more space, so they may be worth looking into for your situation. Hope this helps :)

A pet peeve about fan reviews is the quietness - they don't measure how much air the fan is pulling/pushing. A rule of thumb for most fans of the same size/type/power is the quieter it is the less air it moves.

It's literally under the 5 PPB required for the zero ozone certification, which is of course under the 50PPB required for the California CARB certification(California being notoriously stringent on their certifications). For example, you'd get more ozone sitting next to a blender or your hvac system. Or opening a window. Or walking outside.

If you’ve never used an air filter these are great. kzbin.infoUgkx_dppjvjF8BYEmPSDTcgCUdRsgWYLXNHN I ended up with three after starting out with one. The noise level depends on the 1-3 settings with how hard you want the machine to work. You can also upgrade the filters and get one better for pet hair and smells which is a must have in my home. I noticed the air seemed lighter and easier to breathe when running the machine for the first time. Works great every time. Highly recommended!

Yes it does emit ozone as it has small ionizer. That why their filters are cheaper since doesn't use HEPA filter. They don't produce dangerous or concerning levels of ozone. I have read some reviews that people get sore throats when using the blueair purifiers. I have seen images of the purifiers from reviews having dirt particles sticking to outside of the case that a sign it's releasing ozone to the air.

@@ChiefBrianIrons Thanks for information Brian ,can you also confirm if we can manually disable the ionizer by cutting it's wiring inside the purifier ?
@ChiefBrianIrons
@ChiefBrianIrons Жыл бұрын
@@pkd2411 I have no clue sorry but if you did disabled it you have effectively just reduced the efficiency of the purifier as it used to kill mould and VOC in the air. Also it might not work if disabled. If you not getting any issues with chest pain, coughing, throat irritation, and congestion. If you not seeing dirty black stains on outside case then it's emitting very low level of ozone into air. Personally still doing research into buying air purifier for myself but I am 100% certain not buying one that emits ozone even if mean sending more money on filters for air purifiers that don't emit ozone.
