Hey Dan, do you have any tips on memorizing vitals from neonates to adult?

Other than pure memorization this is challenging-and memory isn’t great under stress. This is why charts and references are used in the field. I have a few things clinicians have used in the field because they are reliable and easy to remember. Remember the value of mental status, skin color, temperature, and condition in any patient. This is essentially the pediatric assessment triangle (which is the way we recommend identifying criticality in pediatric patients even more than vitals). After one year of age to about 10 years you can use the formula 70 + (2x age in years) to determine shock. If the systolic is below this number, you would expect shock. In a 3 year old, 70 + (2 x 3) = 76 as a minimum systolic BP. Below that would be shock. Other than this, it is memorization which is challenging.

​@@Limmereducation Gotta love the ABC (Appearance, Breathing, Color) approach to Pediatric initial impressions. 🤔 My instructor always says to treat the patient, not the monitor.
