They have dress clothes at Walmart too (maybe not suit jackets), but you can get a pair of Dickies pants (black colored) or dress pants for around $20, then they have dress shirts for around $10, and you can get a zipper tie or a regular one for $10. I get my dress clothes from Walmart, because some of the more premium stores don’t have my size..., and they’re sometimes $80-$100 as well. I don’t know if they have skirts or dresses there, but a woman could still pick out a nice looking outfit there.

This one was an instant classic...the EASIEST thing you can do when going to court is to dress to impress. agree or disagree with the merits, but the *reality* is that it shows the judge (the person you're trying to have on your side) that you have respect for their court

I have long ass hair, and wear jeans n t shirts on a daily basis. Everytime I am required to appear in front of a judge, my hair is wrapped nicely in a bun, slacks, button up and a tie. You need to present yourself professionally in order to be taken seriously.

Anytime I ever needed to go to court in my lifetime, it was understood that one would dress nicely and conservatively. If people had come to court like this, they would be told to leave the courtroom.

@@The_Black_Anarchist Lol You know that people go to court for plenty of reasons (like jury duty), not just because _they_ are directly involved in a case, right? And in the event that you are being sued, it’s in *your* best interest to look presentable because whether you like it or not, people will judge you based on the way that you look. If you can’t be bothered to put on slacks and a nice shirt, it gives the impression that you’re defiant and don’t care. If that’s the case, that’s fine but you can’t whine about being unfairly judged later on if you’re incapable of setting your pride aside for a few hours just to prove a point.

i used to be a huge goth and rebellious in my teens and i thought the same way as his wife. The way judy explains it made me change my mind about "putting on a front". Sometimes you have to be fake because that's just the way things are, you cant change society sometimes.

Agreed I have to wear hospital scrubs for work and can't dress the way I normally want to. However I decided I'd rather accept it and put up with it and earn a wage rather than refusing to do so and be out of work.

I wrote a post here how I won full and complete custody of my kids, because I behaved appropriately in court and dressed the way I went to work. My ex showed up day after day in jeans and a t-shirt. He commented on that calling me a name too.
