What opening drama? Tony expressed that he still doesn't understand why Polin adopts RAW as such a strong part of his identity if he doesn't care about some of the obvious benefits it confers (like a higher dynamic range). Polin failed to provide an adequate explanation on that point. Then they moved on. They didn't even really raise their voices.
@jshariff7865 жыл бұрын
Not only that, but they pretty much buried the hatchet on the whole RAW vs. JPEG thing, by indicating that they both have pretty similar views on their relative utility (with Polin saying just shoot whatever you want in the beginning when you're learning skills/artistry)

Hi Jared. You said you don't care about dynamic range because, if I may quote you "no one ever looked at your images and said that the dynamic range is fu**ing mind-boggling". By that logic there's no reason for you to shoot RAW either because no one's ever going to look at your images and say OMG it looks so great, must have been shot in RAW! But that's not the point. It's perfectly okay for you to not care about something, you just don't have to be so blunt about it.

To be honest I don't know where all the hate is coming from. Jared was great, both when giving critics and when just chatting with Tony and Chelsea. I don't think he was inappropriate at all, and I recon this might be a cultural thing as I live in Europe and not in the US, but I don't get why everyone is so offended because he said "the F bomb" a couple of times; it makes me think a big part of T&C's audience is either over 70 or in elementary school to act that freaked out. I really don't understand this extreme fear of swearing, it's 2019 and every movie or TV series can contain stuff like that on a daily basis, so whatever. On top of that, this was nothing like the Moose Peterson show yet people keep comparing them for reasons I really can't understand. Anyways, I think you guys did a really nice TC Live today and really enjoyed it, and I hope Jared returns again at some point in the future to the show because it was both fun and useful. Damn, I so wanted to catch this and take part, but an OS update ruined it. Anyway, a few things on what Jared said re. getting into a venue with your camera: It really depends on the venue and how popular the artist is. I mostly shoot smaller bands, indie artists, club concerts, newcomers etc. and have absolutely no problem in most cases. From a certain size on it's getting more difficult, maybe around the >€30 ticket mark. "Professional camera" in most cases means system cameras/interchangable lenses, I was able to get into concerts where I had to leave my Fuji X-T1 behind but was allowed to take the X100 in. Speaking of, my Fujis are often mistaken for film cameras, and the security often doesn't care about film cameras. This is actually one major reason why I chose Fuji (I could see some Olympus cameras work in the same way). DSLRs are instantly seen as "Pro", no matter if Rebel or 1D, so depending on the policies of the place it's hardest to get in with. Another main reason to use mirrorless instead of DSLRs is silent shooting, often DSLR photographers tend to annoy the audience around them, especially on acoustic concerts. In any case, I'm getting my cameras into 95% of the concerts I'm actually interested in, and when I'm in I try to be as stealthy as possible to not annoy anyone.

Photo critiques were good, but had to stop watching because of the egos and snark.

I don’t mind Jared lol I feel like his heart is always in the right place he’s just a little sensitive and that comes off wrong sometimes. I think he’s one of those people who, deep down, just desperately wants to be liked and acts out when he senses criticism (often when none is there). Usually never to his benefit but he redeems himself in the rare real moments. Like when you see the videos of him by his mum’s grave and how honest he was about his regrets and the rare moment his guard slips I think there is hope. Jared just needs a hug haha. Brave collab aside from all that! I love you all ☺️

I really enjoy both of your channels for different reasons, but that was a tad awkward in places! Gotta love creatives that don't quite agree!

Jered is ironically pretty RAW. I watch his channel once in a while but I really don’t connect with his style as much as others. He has plenty of great things to share but the crude and often rude edge isn’t necessary. I do like him when he delivers some solid content that informs his viewers. I guess that translates into less of that in-your-face facade and more insightful content would be much better. But hey, you guys got through that show and it was quite a contrast. That’s a huge step and it was worth watching! I think Jered was actually uptight and maybe a different set up would work better. Perhaps all of you on location talking about how you each would approach a particular photography challenge. That would bring out the distinctive styles you each have and would work well. More of a ‘collaboration’ than a ‘his side, your side’ scenario. Next?.... Tony, Chelsea, collaborate with our Canadian bro Peter McKinnon. I’d be very interested to see that collab. My prediction is a really insightful and inspiring hour+ talk. There would be more honest laughter, rather than cringing waiting for a bomb to drop. That was somewhat nerve wracking to be honest. And Chelsea, you are still the goddess, and so hilarious! You were doing your best to keep that talk as civil as possible while not really knowing what was going to happen. That had to have been exhausting. Everyone knew about the obvious Elephant-in-the-room starting point and you all made it through. It wasn’t easy for any of you, but you did it and I do believe there was a benefit for everyone involved. On to the next thing! Well done :-)
