As someone who went to MNSU, Mankato I can say it's really fun watching a game at Blakeslee, especially marching it with the marching band, but it is a very old stadium and the concrete can get perilous when it rains as the stairs are just bare concrete. plus the concrete overhangs a bit onto the sidelines so if a player can't stop running off the sidelines they will get a head full of concrete.

Minnesota State used to be a big time program when Hayden Fox was coaching there. Sad to see how far they've fallen.

Minnesota Duluth fan and football season ticket holder. They renovated Malosky Stadium ~15-20 years ago to upgrade it from "dump" to "average D2 facility." I don't think it could be seen in any of the photos you happened to choose, but on the wall about the small chairback section it now says "FOOTBALL NATIONAL CHAMPIONS 2008 2010" in large vinyl lettering that I helped design and install! One note on Mattke Field for Southwest Minnesota State, the overhead shot at the beginning of the segment is actually their old stadium, not their current stadium that you showed in the rest of the photos. The old stadium is still standing and is used by Marshall High School (you can see the high school's graphics on the field in said overhead shot).

When I was marching in drum corps we had a show at Minnesota State. The one thing I remember was that the field is so close to the stadium that there was no room for the drum major podium between the front ensemble and the stadium wall so the drum majors for that show had to conduct from the bleachers!

For the softball issue, a lot of teams are using their turf football fields for softball in the northern area because it is easier to brush the snow off the turf over the grass

Moorhead is called the Minnesota State Moorhead Dragons. Minnesota State is associated the Mavericks, as they are a bigger school. But old Blakeslee badly needs to be replaced with a new stadium.

Yes. The conference has the stadium with the highest elevation in the country. Many stadiums with picturesque mountain views from the stadium. And one stadium where you can watch the game from your car.

I went to two of these schools (Augustana and Minnesota State-Mankato). Never set foot in either stadium! How could I? There was college football on TV during the football games!

You should have, D2 football cheap and enjoyable. Mankato has had some great teams in the past 10-15 years. MSU-UMD matchups in Duluth usually draw over 6,000.

@@RealHeyMark I was at Augustana from 1997-2001, when games were still at Howard-Wood Field. Being from Nebraska, most of the time I was back in the dorm watching the Huskers, but I MADE SURE to drive out to one Augie game per year, usually on a Husker bye-week. I've been back to Augie twice for reunions since the new stadium opened, & it is pretty nice. BTW, I CAN’T BELIEVE that St. Cloud dropped football!

You should do one for the NCAA Basketball Big East teams! The teams are the Butler Bulldogs, Creighton Blue Jays, DePaul Blue Demons, Georgetown Hoyas, Marquette Golden Eagles, Providence Friars, St. John’s Red Storm, Seton Hall Pirates, UConn Huskies, Villanova Wildcats, and Xavier Musketeers!
