You may want to keep in mind that 3 step protection wasn’t in place until the FRA mandated it as a part of the SOFA rules in the year 2000 so it would be fine for time frames beyond that. You are an awesome model railroader by the way.

Do they make those custom pipe loads on the bulkheads for o scale?
@nsmodeler244 жыл бұрын
No that I know of. These particular loads were made of aluminum tubing, cut to length, and painted. - Josh
@RailRide4 жыл бұрын
@@nsmodeler24 What's the scale diameter are the pipes, if I may ask? I was eyeing MTH's 6-pack of 60' flats with pipe loads, but the ones they supplied are way smaller than anything I've ever seen on the prototype. I could concievably make my own loads and simply mimic the strapping pattern used on the real thing, but haven't had much luck locating info on the size of the larger pipes.

Hi Josh my dad and I are going to be repainting a CSX dash 8 to be an NS dash 8. Do we have to strip the paint before we put the black on it?
@tomclark46544 жыл бұрын
Yes. Get 91% isopropyl alcohol (at CVS) Take the shell off. Separate all the plastic parts. Soak all of them for 4-8 hours (maybe 12) Take a toothbrush and brush off all the paint. Let dry. Prime the parts. Put back together (minus the hand rails) Paint. (1-2 coats) Decal. Put back together. Josh might have a video already on this. Tom.

Don't take this the wrong way, I think your trains sound awesome. Has anyone thought about putting a nice healthy stereo with subwoofers and everything under the layout table so you can really hear the trains rumble and all of the sound effects in very clean and clear sound? I would think anything should sound better than the tiny speaker stuffed in that locomotive.
@jaysecure4 жыл бұрын
A long time ago there was actually a system developed that was meant to be installed under the layout and it was meant to "chase" the train around. I can't recall how successful it was, but I know they can't have done as well as had hoped as they never lasted. I can appreciate how annoying it would be to have to install so many speakers, but for me, the advantage would be great because the one thing that lacks most layouts is ambient sounds. Having train sounds is awesome.. until it's not because of the lack of background noise you hear in the real world.
@tomclark46544 жыл бұрын
The "under the layout" speaker systems doesn't "follow" the trains very well. Sure, ... their fidelity is much better but it loses the realism because it comes from a different direction of the train itself. I believe Broadway Limited tried this recently without much success. Overall, sound has definitely gotten better, and my guess is that it will continue to get better. Tom
