I adore the Gingher embroidery scissors my son bought me as a birthday gift with his first paycheck when he was just 16! I don’t use those anywhere but in my stitching nest! I do love the dovo embroidery scissors my husband bought me several years ago, along with a pair with a curved blade that is wonderful of snipping a wonky stitch of confetti stitching among a background of perfect stitching

I absolutely enjoyed your tutorial on scissors. It was very informative and will be very useful, and so beautiful to look at. As I can never decide what to buy and look for, thank you so much. As I only have one "good" pair , my Ginghers, one discount store pair, this can start off my rabbit hole of discoveries on very informed footing. 🙂✂️

Hi Natalie, thank you for sharing your scissor collection with us! I'm a retiree on a fixed income and can only dream of having so many beautiful ones. I do have some Bohins and Ginghers and will have to be on the lookout for good quality vintage ones. My workhorse scissors are actually a brand you've probably never heard of, Dr. Slick, designed by a surgeon for fly tyers. On their website I discovered that their products are made in Pakistan, Taiwan, and Japan, and because the scissors are made of Japanese stainless, I assume these are made in Japan. They're very, very sharp with a needle-sharp tip and have a hefty feel. I love them.

Thank you for the education. It was very good. I didn't know the difference in scissors. I would love to get this kit. I don't remember the brand of my favorite scissors . They never leave my stitching spot. I do have a pair of Ginghers still in the box.

Scissors are so different today than when I was young. I have about 6 pairs from my mom that I love. This video taught me a lot. One of my pet peeves is cheaper scissors that do not cut all the way to the point. I am protective of my embroidery scissors and do not let other people use them. :)

I have a pair of 4" Gingher scissors that I bought to use on my first hardanger project. I love them. I also bought a pair with wooden handles from my lns that I love. The oils from your hands will, over time, cause the color of the wood to change slightly. I have some I keep an eye out for and one day, when I have the $ I will get some of those more expensive scissors. Loved the video.

My favorite scissors are a pair that I won in a trivia game online with Fortnight Fabrics a few years ago. They are figural Bohin, Butterfly. They are my only true embroidery scissors. I mostly use snips 😊❤

Thanks for sharing this. I learned a lot from the video. I told my husband we need to hit up some yard sale and thrift stores to see if we can get lucky and find any of these brands! The only ones of these I've used are Fiskar. So they would have to be my favorite. I would love a pair from German someday!

I love your collection of scissors, Nat. I also am a collector. Your video was very enjoyable and informative. I have several pair of Dovo scissors that I bought before they went out of business. I guard them with my life. Haha! I bought a red pair of Cohana embroidery scissors from an American shop and paid over $100 for them. Also a pair of Cohana shears from the same company. Thank-you for letting us know about ordering directly from the Japanese company that makes them. That's a big difference in the price! Love your cat. He was so good during the video. I guess my overall favorite scissors are the Dovo. Thank-you for the video. Pam Miller

I love Dovos(but I don’t travel with them because I don’t want to risk losing them), however since they are no longer available I use WASA’s. I have a large collection of all kinds. Check out 1928 scissors, very decorative. Ragnar stole the show.
