Excellent information, Dr. Thank you. I wake up every day depressed and have negative thoughts and worse constantly. I will try this and I feel I'll be able to make the connections to my negativity. Thank you again.

Love all your advice, youre a smart guy. I just wish it was as easy as you make it sound. I have past bullying incidents that race through my mind 100's of times a hour and I cant ever seem to get them to stop. Its led to horrible anxiety and depression to the point where I barely leave the house now

Hi Cody - trust me, I know how difficult it can be to challenge these types of negative thoughts. But cognitive therapy is a skill and the more a person practices the skill, the better they get at it. I have done some videos on understanding and dealing with past traumatic events, so you might want to take a look and see if they could be of help: kzbin.info/aero/PLG_XiSJeP3s1k4GVplvoHSesDIofh-AUc

I feel like when I'm in the shower is when I notice my mind thinking about a whole bunch of things. A lot of times traumatic events or something hurtful someone said will come backup into my mind and I'll be thinking about it randomly which triggers emotions.

That's pretty common. It's when our minds are not occupied that negative thoughts can seep in

Did you know the link to the thought sheet is broken?

A thought record is a good idea.... but what do you do when you wake up in the middle of the night? I'm not going to pull a thought record out and start recording everything at 1:00 a.m. my issue is having thoughts wake me up in the middle of the night. Any suggestions?
@DrRamiNader2 жыл бұрын
Hi Rodger - you're correct, you wouldn't use a written thought record in the middle of the night. However, the idea is to practice using thought records until you get so familiar with them that you can start doing the thought record in your head. The written thought record is a tool to help a person get proficient at the skill of challenging negative thoughts. Hope that makes sense.
