So Happy Batman Day everyone! I didn't even know that there was a Batman day until I was told in the comments 2 weeks ago, but I'm so glad that I got this finished in time for it. I've spent the last 2/3 months working on this on the side as well as doing the normal covers, but for the past 2 weeks I focused all of my attention on it.
When I was first looking up the themes for this, I have to admit that the only ones I really recognised were the 80s/90s themes, the new ones seemed new to me, I think that has to do with the shift in movie themes to the more booming epic score as opposed to an interesting orchestral arrangement, you can even hear the change throughout the video.

Zeo1229 I agree man. I actually like Forever more than Returns. I know that's not the popular opinion but I feel like Forever gets hate just because it isn't as dark as its predecessors, and also because Joel Schumacher was the director. Same guy who directed that abomination of a movie Batman & Robin. Forever actually has a really good plot and I love how they focused a lot on Bruce's psychological torment, which the Burton films never did.

Forever was hated because of poor acting, poor writing, a shitty and inconsistent tone, and a bad and under developed villain and lol Burton's movies did deal with Bruce's psychological torment, he did it in a visual and subtlety interesting way with only the expressions on Bruce's face telling us how he feels and when they did finally put in a conversation about Bruce's past in the film with Bruce talking to Vicky it felt like a real conversation, just because they don't spell it out and spoon feed it to you or put in a thousand instances in the film where Bruce says "I'm damaged and edgy and I have dead parents" doesn't mean that the subplot or character narrative isn't there and nobody cared if Joel Schumacher was directing it, the masses were angry that Tim Burton wasn't in the film because the studio wanted the movie to be targeted to a more general audience. And I don't think that the more lighthearted and silly feel to the movie was a good choice either because there are scenes where Riddler would literally murder people like that one scene where he pushed his boss through the building window and out the building, it felt unbalanced and incoherent because in literally the next scene they treat it like a looney tunes sketch. Riddler is basically the 60s Joker in this film, even at Riddler's most ridiculous versions he still was a much more methodical and intellectual character he was crazy kind sure but he wasn't Joker shit your pants crazy and WOOOOW what a great setup for him... Riddler's only reason for turning into a villain is that Bruce rejected one of his ideas and that's it, the filmmakers tried to pull of the obsessed fan thing with him but it felt fucking petty, with the Penguin he was rejected by his parents because of his deformity and abnormality literally throwing him down the drain instilling a great confusion, rage, and grief in the character, the Penguin paralleled Batman in the sense that both have lost their parents in different ways and that they both hide behind an outer persona fit for the public eye to hide their pain the Penguin is a great villain in that movie because he's so similar to Batman in many ways yet so different in other ways, he's what Batman sees himself as, a horrible mistake filled with nothing but the pain of loss and a thousand masks, it's also a clever way of conveying to the audience that our hero despite being in the side of the law is a monster himself. Now let's look at Joker, Joker is Batman's best villain in the Burton and Schumacher movies because he's once again at a personal level with the hero, he's the man that killed his mother and father, he's the reason why Batman is in deep pain, and in contrast to Penguin's character the Joker is the complete polar opposite of Batman, Joker is loud bombastic and flashy, Batman is quiet self contained and sticks to the shadows, the one similarity between them is their equal level of intellect, and the Joker is basically Batman's Tyler Durden (Fight Club) he's what Batman fears of becoming one day, believing that he's only one step away from becoming Joker. And Burton's movies aren't just better movies, their better "comic book" movies, The plots to Batman and Batman Returns were written in in way where it felt like two separate great comic book stories both Batman and Batman Returns actually felt like they were comics coming to life on screen and it added a lot of style to both movies, just because something is cartoony and full of bad puns and one liners doesn't make it the least bit stylized or unique or even good, being cartoony and silly can be done in a movie, modern examples are Guardians of the Galaxy 1&2 and some of the marvel movies, but just because something done in one movie is good doesn't mean that it should automatically be good to every movie. If you like Batman Forever that's fine, no one cares, but the film isn't an underrated gem and it isn't good, it's mediocre at best...

I like how the theme in Dark Knight Trilogy has the almost exact opposite feel to the one in BvS. The first felt like Batman is struggling and fighting because he has hope among all the chaos, and the latter felt more fearful because Batman had lost so much and so torn up that he's fighting like he had nothing left to lose.

IMO, TDKT wasn't the absolute best it could've been. If they would've gotten someone with a deeper voice who didn't sound like they had smokers lung every time they spoke, I would've enjoyed them a lot more. I grew up with the 90's show, with Kevin Conroy and Mark Hamill as Batman and Joker, and they slaughtered it. No adaptation will ever beat the Arkham games VA. It upsets me that they couldn't try to find someone similar to them for the role. Bruce having smokers lung is my least favorite voice for batman, and it's annoying that THAT'S the voice everyone goes for. Even as voice overs they would've been better than what we got. I hate Bane's voice too, and as a matter of fact, his whole character adaptation. NOTHING like the comics. Bane was never a mastermind, although he was smart enough to determine Batman's identity.

Spider Man Yeah, not a fan of Bale’s voice. Although I actually kinda like Affleck’s artificial voice. Using a voice filter in the cowl to sound scarier makes a lot more sense than just trying to sound like you’re gargling marbles the whole time, and Affleck’s voice ends up sound more unnatural and scary because of it. You’re right about one thing, though. Nobody beats Kevin Conroy’s voice.

And for Bane, I think it's portrayed really good, first of all, it's an adaptation, not a literall translation of the comics, second, he doesn't even is the truly evil mastermind, is Talia al Ghul, so I think he has the important things that define him as a character, he is not a muscle idiot, he's actually an strategist and he can actually beat Batman in strength.

Your video brought me so, so many good memories, from when I was a child, from when I discovered they had released a Batman movie in 89, from when I went to the movies with my first girlfriend to see Batman Forever... The scene in Burton's Batman (1989) where Batman drives the Batmobile through the forest with Kim Basinger on his side, always gives me goosebumps! So dark and powerful. 2016 theme portrays perfectly Batman's darkness and rage against Superman.

Batman forever is so ICONIC! it was so different from the rest. Total 90s! Neon colors. I can recall the dream of being Batman as a kid. Still my favorite super hero of them all.
