NSW Railways - Mungindi and Main Northern Lines: Australian Trains

Freight and Passenger rail action on the Mungindi and Main Northern lines in the mid north of New South Wales on Friday 2 November 2012.
The video commences with former Danish MZ locos 1443, 1440 and 1445 on a QUBE freight at Boggabri before heading south east to Gunndedah for the up Moree Countrylink Xplorer passenger service.
Due to the lack of rail activity in the area following the Xplorer, I headed south to Willow Tree on the Main Northern line and captured a coal train commencing the climb up the Liverpool range with triple TT's on the front and three 82's banking on the rear.
The action continues with 8241, 8204 and 8224 departing Werris Creek and then following it south to Blandford. Also included are the down Northern Tablelands Xplorer, a down empty coal train with three TT's on the front at Ardglen and double 81's on a grain at Blandford.
The final train for the day is TT112, TT124 and TT111 on another empty coal train at Blandford (after crossing the 82's at Murrulla) and finally entering Ardglen loop at the old Main North Road level crossing.

arh the old MZ 1445( MZ generation 3 Build by Nohab) from Korsør Habour the first Train missed a ship and drove straight into the Harbour many years ago. Nice to see that the old MZ´s still works

Thanks for the feedback. Part of the reason for the lack of high fencing is due to filming this video between 350km and 515km from Sydney :)

and class 304 from british railways is now operating in india, but these units have been reformed to typical indian trains so, it is difficult to notice

0:40...this trains is the spanish 333 operated by renfe, which also operates in argentina...lots of trains which renfe operates in spain are operated my other companies in other countries as: 592.2 renfe(spain) and cp(portugal), lg334(known as euro 4000) is operated in spain by renfe, and in england, france, italy, etc...as euro 4000, while in spain it is lg334, the argentinian talgo(which operates in morocco, germany and other countries too) is pulled by a spanish 319, but in england there is other version of the renfe 333 which is newer been operated by ews....this happens with locomotives from other countries as thye famous german siemens trains which are operated even in india, england, france, spain, and the usa, so...keep an eye on this type of details

Ah no, sorry for being two years late to tell you, but these are DSB Mz-class engines that the 333 was based on. In other words, they're danish not spanish.

Speaking about keeping eyes on facts, try these facts en.wikipedia.org/wiki/RENFE_Class_333 It says clearly that the 333 was based of the danish Class Mz. Class Mz 1436 and 1442 was sold to Comsa in Spain, so that's why you have seen them before ;) Also the 333 was rebuild, and coincidentally became to look bit like the Mz Mark III (Generation, series)

hi argentina do not have the 3000 hp 333 series from spain, only a bunch of 319 ex renfe, which has the 16 645 , but not turbocharged, and the talgo did not survived, it is stored but nobody knows its future, our politicians are very smarts, buying a lot of chinese trains, cheap and without the strongness, of american built locomotives as in the past

Nice video, but its not Mungindi. Mungindi is on the NSW Qld border NW of Moree - you probably meant Murrurundi where the line crosses the great divide.

No, the title is correct - he's talking about the names of the lines, not the town where the footage was taken. Boggabri and Narrabri are on the Mungindi Line, Murrurundi, Duri, Limbri and Quirindi are on the Main North Line. Eye?

James, does the railroads down under make much use of bankers on their coal trains?

Jim Johnson The only place bankers are used in NSW is the 1 in 40 grade for up (loaded) trains to the summit at Ardglen. In Queensland, distributed power on coal trains is common (ie: mid train helpers), but as far as I'm aware not bank engines that are only used on a grade.

US made GM/EMD engine in a Swedish build locomotive by Nohab in Trolhatten. Look up "DSB MZ III"

Denmark made the shape of the Mz's, only 1401 was full build in Sweeden ;)
