NSW Railways - Main Southern Line: Australian Trains

Footage from the Main Southern Line in New South Wales between the highest point of the line at Cullerin and Frampton, between Cootamundra and Junee on a very wet 7 November 2012.
The video commences with NR9, NR27 and NR56 passing through Gunning with 1PS6 up Pacific National freight and then climbing the Cullerin range at the middle bridge and finally to the highest point of the Main Southern line at Top Bridge. Following 1PS6 is 4490 and 44211 on the returning Heritage Express "Melbourne Cup Aurora", which is also filmed at Top Bridge.
The action in the Cullerin Range is then followed by 8169 and 8158 working hard upgrade past the site of Goondah station with a loaded Pacific National grain, ST23 down XPT speeding through the closed station at Wallendbeen and finishes with ST24 up XPT passing Frampton in very dark and wet conditions.

Most U tube videos showing trains in NSW or Victoria seem to have mud holes on track and the trains bounce around like a yoyo, there needs to be some serious cash spent on track maintenance to bring them up to high standard.

I remember going up this track on a sleeper on the Mel_Syd express in 1990 and it was fairly smooth and they were working on the track in a few places. The ride was not bad. About 4 years ago I went from Inverness to London on the sleeper train and it was unreal. Over 160 km/hr for mile after mile and smooth as silk. Quite a few freight trains around too. Don't understand how we can let essential infrastructure get so bad. It must be costing the country billions. I bounced from Mel to Albury the year before, so I do have a comparison.

The ATO would be processing thousands of taxation transactions a second (inc the internet charges here). Most of those transactions will cost more too process than the taxation they'll bring in.In any case, if the government prints the money supply, what do they need taxes for? (& at huge cost to administrate). + If the government actually had money to spend on infrastructure, they'd wave it in front of our noses & say " follow us" (too the ballot box). This interstate rail line is basically as it was when it connected 2 cities of around 1 million people, Melbourne now has over 4.5 million & Sydney over 5 million. & Australias government debt is now $815,974,500,000. The track seems to be in bad shape from 0:28 to 1:36. The wagons are bouncing all over the place.

The track is a bit bouncy when the Pacific National Train Was coming but I like the video.

Not at all surprising. The NSW government has been anti-rail for so long that I have lost track of the decades that the railway infrastructure has been allowed to deteriorate.
