I just love this opening. I'm not really a fan or a hater of GT, but this opening really gives the feeling that makes you think "this is the end. This is where Goku's journey will end". Though this series definitely could have been a lot better and had a lot of issues regarding plot holes and general inconsistency, it has this certain charm to it. Unlike Super, it has this feeling of darkness and constant danger that didn't quite get replicated in the new series. At the same time, the opening presents a contrast of happiness and carefree outlook, as though they all knew someday Goku wouldn't be there for them and that with his journey at an end, the remaining Z Fighters will rise to the occasion when needed.

It's been 12 years... This song is the essence of the winding-down finality of Dragon Ball. GT felt like an _end_ to the series, and this song embodies that. Nothing against Super, it's actually better written in its better arcs, but there's something especially nostalgic about GT that strikes me even though I've never seen the series.

In the opening, there’s one part that (while it wasn’t correctly translated in this) means: one planet’s last remnant of hope. Go to 1:13. Even the mistranslation is chilling to see.
