Ever since I was a child. My mother would abuse me and my little brother. I always stepped in front of him so he didn't get hit. This went on for years until I was big enough to stand up to her @14 years old. I excelled at soccer & hockey as a kid. I should be in the NHL, but when I was 17 drugs were a way to numb the thought of the previous pain. Fast forward now I'm 37, addiction has riddled my life. Heroin, coke, percocet, u name it. I recently started goin to church. Today I have 5 days clean from everything. I'm listening to this song while withdrawing from the opiates, all week long. Never again will I return to my old ways. This week has been hell on earth and is a clear reminder of why I have to stay clean. Praise God for the pain and the joy. This is my battle and I walk alone on my own 2 feet.

I left Ohio in 2016 and moved to South Florida. I ran from my heroin addiction and all my problems. I've been clean ever since and I've even managed to get married and have a son in 2018. It's hard finding people that I can relate to. Most people I'm around don't know shit about the struggle. It's also hard for me to trust people after everything I've put myself through.
