There's a song on that self titled Mudvayne where Chad actually complains that CDs aren't selling anymore as an example of how little bite there is lyrically on this album. There's also that hilarious memory of seeing all the high priced glow in the dark editions of this disc at Best Buy when they came out.
@monkehm2 жыл бұрын
It depresses me that the guy who wrote Death Blooms also wrote that steaming turd. Chad Gray didn't appreciate what Mudvayne was doing and the position they had and he threw it away for easy money and the brain-damaged gorilla concept of combining the words "alcohol" with the phrase "haulin ass".
@michaelstewart4461 Жыл бұрын
Yeah, that's not a lyric on this album. That's a ridiculous interpretation of that line. I swear, it's not their best, but the derangement people have about some bands they used to like is so weird.

“Saturday Night Wrist has no real duds.” Okay, I love that album, I think it’s easily one of the best on this list, and Cherry Waves might be one of my favorite songs ever. But I’m curious about your opinion on track 9, Pink Cellphone. That’s my ultimate example of a bad song on a great album. I honestly can’t stand that song and I immediately hit the skip button every time I play the album. But other than that, I agree with pretty much everything on here, move Untouchables up a tier and swap The Grey Chapter and Living Things and then it’s my ranking exactly. Great video as always, skeleton man.

Dark Ages is a big personal fave, great followup to Prophecy and set the stage for Soulfly's last few years, which I've found consistently good to great. Also agree with Cannibal and Hypnotize being pretty underrated, I'd take both over some of the "bigger" entries in those discographies.

The Mudvayne slander is way too much, man. 1) the prior album was way more watered down and commercialized. 2) You can hear his bass on this album. Its right there. Its not as prominent as I like, but its not gone. 3) your highschool garage band must have been impressive It's like some people didnt hear the same album. Its still not a return to form, but it was a step back in the right direction.

All Hope Is Gone gets out to an outstanding start with Gematria, Sulfur, and Psychosocial. Unfortunately, the rest of the album is just ok, save for Snuff. Vol. 3 is an album that is great upon first listen, but loses something with each replay, but has it's highlights, for sure. I agree that Grey Chapter is their most underrated album. I would probably place it 4th, under We Are Not Your Kind, but still solid. Slipknot has yet to release an album that is straight up bad.

Any chance Mudvayne was knowingly phoning it in on album 4 and 5 just to finish their contract? I know 10 years did that with Feeding The Wolves. Actually 10 Years would’ve been a cool band to do in these tier lists. I almost wanna try to do a companion video series to this for some bands that didn’t make it on your lists. I like to think I can appreciate the more melodic stuff from Slipknot and I at least appreciate some more artsy lyrics but I think the grey chapter kind of falls short because they were trying to escape their sound while also maintaining a similar appeal while also attempting to bring in extra fans with devil in I and killpop. I don’t hate killpop by any means yet I think Slipknot’s symbolism and abstract lyrics are mostly just using a description of a girl that is representing the desired meaning, it feels like they need new metaphors because they are simply using the same type of abstract writing since vermillion (a song which I love, I find both the first part and part 2 rather emotional) which is growing into a method that just leaves me feeling like it’s lazily constructed.

I mean, Living things was definitely better than most Linkin park's discography. I personally like this album the most out of everything they've done. I don't know what it is, but here the more melodic songs were absolutely amazing and that's my main hook with that band. The first 3 songs were really strong, then we had Lies greed misery, which is the only song I disliked. Other than that only amazing stuff! Castle of glass is really really good song, Roads untravelled has special place in my heard and has been my favourite Linkin park song ever since it's release. Victimized is a fun minute and something track, skin to bone is fun background song that I find rather catchy and honestly listen to it quite a lot, Until it breaks at first disliked, but it's all worth it for the Chester's parts. And lastly tye Tinfoil, Powerless duo. These two are one of my favourite Linkin park songs of all time aswell. Again, keep in mind that the softer stuff by them are my main hook so this album did cover all the points that I need for a good Linkin park album. That's surely just me tho 😅

The Gray Chapter is definitely Slipknot's weakest album Mushroomhead has some good and even great songs but most of their discography is bland and boring. They have 8 members but they sound like a 4 piece band; some of the most basic and boring riffs you'll hear out of any genre of music, boring drumming, percussionists where? I keep trying to like them more than I do but holy fuck I don't think it's possible. Wasted potential. As for Mudvayne, I really liked their self titled album. Let's debate on Mudvane. Burn the bridge is a banger, strange and beautiful do encompass beautiful songwriting. I get it but I can argue that you're probably less than the age of 30 and have no musical background just musical opinions. Write a song, start to finish. Like drums, bass, guitar and lyrics with vocals. Smh
@MetalTrenches11 ай бұрын
I hate it so much when people pull the age or "do u even write music" cards. For the record, I am 37 and can sing, play the guitar, and have also played drums and piano. I'm by no means a superstar, but have written songs. Toss that all out the window though, because the reality is none of that really matters when we are talking about personal taste: if you listen to a broad variety of music, you are allowed to have an opinion on how something sounds to you. I listen to hundreds of albums a year at this point... I don't need a music degree to understand what I like and what I don't. Have you ever not enjoyed a meal? "Oh... are you a 5 star chef?" Have you ever been disappointed walking out of a movie? "What... where's YOUR directing Oscar?" Give me a break. You like that shitty song... more power to you. I think it sucks. No need to bring ad hominem into the argument. That's bad debate.
